The Pittsburgh Penguins and defenseman Owen Pickering have agreed to terms on a National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Level Contract.
The Penguins selected the St. Adolphe, MB defenseman 21st overall at the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.
Pickering has spent the last two seasons in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Swift Current Broncos. In 85 WHL games Pickering has recorded 11 goals and 31 assists. The Broncos originally drafted Pickering in the ninth round, 177th overall at the 2019 WHL Draft. This season Pickering represented Team Canada at the U18 World Championships, finishing with two assists in four games.
Prior to joining the Broncos Pickering spent the 2019-20 season in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) with the RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg U16 Prep team, tallying 21 points in 34 games. He would play three games with their U18 Prep team the following season before joining the Broncos for the remainder of the 2020/21 campaign.
