Oilers Sign Former PHA Defenseman

The Edmonton Oilers have signed former Prairie Hockey Academy (PHA) defenseman Max Wanner to an NHL Entry Level Contract.

Wanner spent the 2017/18 season with the PHA U15 Prep team, recording 25 points in 39 games. The following season PHA would join the Canadian Sport School Hockey League, and Wanner would play for their U16 Prep team, tallying 14 points in 35 games.

Undrafted to the WHL, Wanner would make the Moose Jaw Warriors for the 2020/21 season, finishing with 4 assists in 17 games. The Oilers would like what they saw from Wanner in his limited WHL showing, selecting him in the seventh round, 212th overall at the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.

The Estevan, SK product would follow that up with 6 goals and 17 assists in 55 games during the 2021/22 campaign. In two WHL games this season Wanner has one goal and one assist.
