The Edmonton Oil Kings have signed Blake Fiddler, their first overall pick from the 2022 Western Hockey League (WHL) U.S. Priority Draft, to a WHL Standard Player Agreement.
Fiddler spent the 2020/21 season in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) with the Okanagan Hockey Academy U15 team. In 9 games the Irving, TX defenseman recorded 5 goals and 13 assists.
Blake is the son of NHL veteran forward Vernon Fiddler, who spent 14 seasons and 877 games in the NHL with the Nashville Predators, Phoenix Coyotes, Dallas Stars, and New Jersey Devils.
