Indigenous Sports Academy to Join CSSHL

The Indigenous Sports Academy has been accepted into the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) as its 26th member for the 2022/23 season as voted by the league’s Board of Governors.

“The Indigenous Sports Academy is both proud and excited to be named the 26th member program in the CSSHL. We have worked hard to provide a first-class experience for our student athletes and their families. We look forward to being a part of an accredited and professional organization such as the CSSHL as well as providing Indigenous youth the opportunity to excel personally, academically and athletically,” said the Indigenous Sports Academy Director of Hockey Operations Courage Bear.

Located in Treaty 6 territory in Saskatoon, SK, the academy is currently playing out of Canlan Ice Sports Agriplace, while their students attend City Park High School. The Indigenous Sports Academy will operate one team at the U17 Prep level this upcoming season.

“We are pleased to be adding another Hockey Canada Accredited School in Saskatchewan and look forward to the Indigenous Sports Academy’s growth in the coming years.  Their partnerships with four First Nations communities and City Park High School will allow the program to develop quality individuals that will be the leaders of tomorrow,” added CSSHL Chief Operating Officer Kevin Goodwin.
