VAUGHAN, ON – Aydar Suniev (Moscow, Russia) scored twice late in the third period to propel the Hill Academy to the 2020 World Sport School Challenge 18U Division Championship after a thrilling 2-1 victory over the Ontario Hockey Academy on Sunday.

Trailing 2-1 with 8:22 remaining in the third period, Suniev knotted the game at 1-1, and then broke the deadlock 6:18 later, giving Hill the 2-1 lead.

Hayden Dunford (Guelph, ON) earned the win between the pipes, stopping 15-of-16 shots fired his way.

After 40 minutes of scoreless hockey, Alexander Barakhtin (Moscow, Russia) got Ontario on the board just 47 seconds into the final frame.

Aidan Foley (Grenville-Sur-La-Rouge, QC) turned aside 24 shots in the loss.

The win for the Hill Academy marks the end of a four-year streak of Western Canadian teams winning the World Sport School Challenge and they become the first Ontario-based team to win since St. Andrew’s College in 2015.
