GAME DAY RECAP: September 30, 2024

St. Mary’s High School (0) vs St. Mary’s Academy (9) Female U18 Prep

Defenseman Hannah Marks-Arnold (3G) recorded a hat-trick while Brooke Froese (2G) and Payton Henwood (2G, 1A) each scored twice as St. Mary’s Academy defeated St. Mary’s High School 9-0. Camryn Falloon (3A) chipped in with three assists while Keyauna Robinson-Prefontaine (13/13) made 13 saves for the shutout. 

Northern Alberta Xtreme (3) vs BWC Academy (2) U17 Prep

BWC Academy led 1-0 after 20 as Logan Fuller scored his first goal of the season. Brody Dawson (2G) replied for NAX 3:16 into the second with his first goal of the year. Aiden Across The Mountain gave NAX the lead late in the second with a power play tally. Dawson would add a power play goal of his own 3:06 into the third to extend the lead. Kai Smith countered for BWC Academy just 1:14 later but Matthew Coyle (23/25) finished with 23 saves to end the BWC Academy comeback and give NAX a 3-2 win. 

South Alberta Hockey Academy (5) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (4) U17 Prep

A shorthanded goal by Kutcher Aquila gave SAHA a 1-0 lead midway through the first. Treytin Frizzell would reply for PCHA 33 seconds later and Jack MacMillan scored a power play marker to put Pacific Coast ahead. Holden Duggan (2G) scored back-to-back goals to give PCHA a 4-1 lead late in the second period. Matthew Cameron-Skidmore would start a SAHA comeback 22 seconds later and Madden Wright brought his team within one 1:10 after that. Rhyder Arnold tied the game 11:40 into the third with the second SAHA shorthanded goal of the game and Noah Alexander (1G, 2A) scored the game winner with just 1 second left on the clock. Hunter Zawislak (25/29) made 25 saves to secure the SAHA victory. 

Balmoral Hall School (4) vs North Shore Warriors (3) Female U18 Prep

Balmoral Hall led 1-0 early after Makenna Williment scored 2:34 in. They would take a commanding 4-0 lead heading into the third as Maddie Kaiser (2G) scored twice and Shayna Bannister once in the second. North Shore would attempt to mount a comeback that started when Elise Miller scored just eight seconds into the third. Lily Zohner (1G, 1A) scored 6:44 into the period and Castilla Rubin brought her team within one 1:10 later. But Lauren Cherkas (25/28) kept North Shore off the board in the final 12:06 to ensure the Balmoral Hall School victory. 

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (3/SO) vs North Shore Warriors (2) U15 Prep

William Thompson (1G, 1A) scored the lone first period goal as North Shore led 1-0 after 20. Sebastian Nuttall and Nixon Szadkowski scored second period goals to put Pacific Coast ahead going into the third. Riley Taylor tied the game 8:15 into the final frame to force overtime. After OT solved nothing, Rio Manhas (20/22) and Elias Mitrikas (54/56) each stopped the first six shooters before Cole Gann scored in the seventh round to give PCHA the 3-2 win. 

Delta Hockey Academy (2) vs St. George’s School (4) U15 Prep

Joffrey Chan (47/49) made 47 saves to backstop St. George’s to a 4-2 win over Delta. Tripp Fischer beat Chan 6:25 in on the power play to give Delta the initial lead. Louis Oscar Holowaychuk (4G) tied the game late in the first and then gave SGS the lead 9:38 into the second. Defenseman Ryker Doka scored his third goal of the season less than two minutes later to tie the game heading into the third. Oscar Holowaychuk would complete the hat-trick with the game winning goal 2:43 into the third and added an insurance marker with 40 seconds left, scoring all four goals for St. George’s in the win. 

RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (5) vs Calgary International Hockey Academy (3) U17 Prep

Quinn Bouchard scored 6:46 in to give CIHA the initial lead but Jackson Brown countered 10 minutes later with a power play tally. Mason Moran re-stored the lead 1:53 into the second but Preston Kelly-Paquet (1G, 1A) replied just 18 seconds later. Carson Smith (1G, 1A) and Rhett Tubello scored 2:16 apart midway through the second to put RHA Kelowna ahead by two for the first time Monday afternoon. Chale Morgan scored a power play goal 2:33 into the third to bring CIHA within one but a Porter Rossi goal midway through the final frame secured the 5-3 win for RHA Kelowna. 

Edge School (3) vs Delta Hockey Academy (2) U17 Prep

After a scoreless first 20 Ashton McCann scored a power play goal to open the scoring and give Edge the lead 7:07 into the second. Antonio Cazac and Kishan Saggu (2G) traded goals to close out the second period as Edge remained ahead by one. Jack Bissoon scored the eventual game winner 7:47 into the third as Edge pulled ahead by two. Saggu brought Delta within one less than four minutes later but Adam Courchesne (35/37) finished with 35 saves to clinch the Edge victory. 

Shawnigan Lake School (2) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy (5) Female U18 Prep

Alyssa Worsley and Sophie Erlam (1G, 1A) traded first period goals as the game was tied heading into the second. Makayla Peters scored 2:01 into the second and Jaylee Skog added a power play goal 3:01 later as SAHA grabbed a 3-1 lead. Taya Lonsdale would get Shawnigan within one heading into the final period with her second of the season. In the third Kamryn Reiber and Keyana Bert (1G, 1A) scored less than three minutes apart late in the period to put the game out of reach and provide SAHA a 5-2 win. Hannah Palumbo (26/28) made 26 saves for the win. 

RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (1) vs Delta Hockey Academy Green (8) Female U18 Prep

Delta Green scored eight straight goals en route to an 8-1 win Monday. Rylee Lyseng ended the Maisie Cope (20/21) shutout bid with 26 seconds left to play in what otherwise was a game dominated by Delta Green. Molly Cole (2G) scored twice while defenseman Audrey Church (1G, 3A) led all skaters with four points. Payton Finnie (3A) and Kira Bui (2A) combined for five assists in the win. 

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (1) vs North Shore Warriors (5) U15 AAA

North Shore (2-3-0) earned their second win of the season with a 5-1 win over Pacific Coast (0-2-0) Monday. Keegan Hole (2G) scored 3:17 into the hockey game to give North Shore a 1-0 lead. Nicholas Sheldon extended the lead 9:06 into the second but it was quickly countered by Brayden Lindsay just 34 seconds later. Hole and Cohen Waite (1G, 2A) would score 2:53 apart to close out the second and Breh Guest (1G, 1A) scored 5:24 into the third to round out the scoring. 

BWC Academy (3) vs St. George’s School (0) U18 Prep

Noah Singowitz (38/38) made 38 saves to earn his first win and shutout of the 2024/25 season. Christian Revel (1G, 1A) scored the game winning goal while shorthanded with 2:18 left in the first period. Singowitz and affiliate Les Toth (30/33) would keep clean sheets in the second before Lukas Lima gave BWC Academy an insurance marker 8:27 into the third. Kai Anderson would score BWC Academy’s second shorthanded goal of the game with 1:31 remaining to round out the scoring. 

Yale Hockey Academy (4) vs Prairie Hockey Academy (2) U17 Prep

It took Seth Castronuovo (3G) just nine seconds to give Yale the lead while Brady Elbert added a late first period goal of his own. Kade Kahovec (1G, 1A) and Dane Chalupa scored in the second to tie the game heading into the final 20. Castronuovo would score twice in the final period to record the hat-trick and propel Yale into the win column with a 4-2 victory. Carson Lang (35/37) and Drake Mooney (26/30) were in net for their respective teams. 

Northern Alberta Xtreme (1) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (15) Female U18 Prep

RHA Kelowna scored 10 first period goals en route to a 15-1 win to close out their weekend. Hayley McDonald (4G, 1A) and Emelia McDermid (3G, 2A) each recorded five point games while Alida Korte (4A), Jillian McLaughlin (2G, 2A) and Kennedy Sisson (2G, 2A) all had four points. Madison Brazeau scored the lone goal for NAX in the loss. 

Okanagan Hockey Academy (3) vs Edge School (2) Female U18 Prep

A late first period goal by Tiani Makokis gave OHA the lead heading into the second period. Abby Lee (1G, 1A) would tie the game 14:42 into the second with her first goal of the season. Madison Deschamps responded for OHA just 35 seconds later to re-store the lead. Brooklyn Deck (1G, 1A) tied the game on the power play with 40 seconds left in the period but Mena Bhatt scored the go-ahead goal just eight seconds later. Maive Gosselin Berg (22/24) made seven third period saves to keep Edge from mounting any type of comeback. 

OHA Edmonton (3) vs Delta Hockey Academy Black (1) Female U18 Prep

In their first season in the CSSHL the OHA Edmonton (3-0-0) Female U18 Prep team improved to 3-0-0 with a 3-1 win over Delta Black. After a scoreless first Ryann Chimera scored with 15 seconds left in the second to get OHA Edmonton on the board. Mercedes Dunbar and Peyton Carter (1G, 1A) scored 1:10 apart early in the final period to give OHA Edmonton a comfortable 3-0 lead. Kinleigh Blane would end the Ava Antle (29/30) shutout bid with 3:03 remaining but Delta Black was unable to cut further into the lead. Nicole Flesher (40/43) made 40 saves in the loss. 

Delta Hockey Academy (7) vs North Shore Warriors (4) U17 AAA

Christian Sum scored on the power play just 2:13 in but Nishaan Jauhol (1G, 1A) tied the game 21 seconds later. Delta would quickly regain the lead as Akash Raj (1G, 1A) found the back of the net 1:23 later. Santiago Skinner and Lincoln Arkinstall (1G, 3A) each scored their second of the season for Delta to start the second period, while Graeson Miller (1G, 1A) and James Koch scored 1:02 apart to bring North Shore back within one. Kaydin Halladay (2G, 1A) extended the lead 48 seconds into the third before Santino Esposito (1G, 1A) replied for North Shore midway through the frame. However, Halladay scored less than two minutes later and Ewan Torrance added an empty netter to secure the Delta win.
