GAME DAY RECAP: September 27-28, 2023

RHA Winnipeg (6) vs Delta Hockey Academy Green (7) U15 Prep

A high scoring affair started off with a bang as the two teams combined for an eight goal first period, with RHA Winnipeg scoring five of those. Delta Green would respond with three goals in 2:48 midway through the second to take a 6-5 lead before Max George tied the game heading into the third. Delta Green captain Bryson Roberts (1G, 1A) would score the game winning goal off a face-off 3:55 into the third period. Delta Green skaters Dylan Hurrren (2G, 1A) and Kishan Saggu (1G, 2A) led all skaters with three points. 

Shawnigan Lake School (4) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (2) U15 Prep

Liam Chamberlain (42/44) made 42 saves to backstop Shawnigan Lake to a 4-2 victory. Shawnigan held a 4-0 advantage after 40 thanks to goals from Charlie Kittleson (1G, 1A), Ellis Thurmeier (2G) and Matthew Morris (1G, 2A). Gavin Noseworthy would get PMHA on the board early in the third and Cole Landreville would score late to give Pilot Mound life but Shawnigan would hold on for a 4-2 win. 

BWC Academy (6) vs Notre Dame (2) U15 Prep

BWC Academy outshot Notre Dame 61-25 en route to a 6-2 victory Thursday. Grayson Tash (4A) led all skaters with four points while Kyle Obobaifo (2G) and Jayden Simpson (2G, 1A) each scored twice. Kurt Stajkowski (55/61) made 51 saves for Notre Dame in the loss. 

Champions Hockey Academy (3) vs Ontario Hockey Academy White (1) Eastern U17

After a scoreless first Champions Hockey Academy forward Bryson Robinson scored the first goal of the 2023/24 Eastern Division season 15:46 into the second period. Ty Berube would tie the game 4:16 into the first with a power play marker before Jackson Shaddick re-gave his team the lead less than three minutes later. Charlie Morrison would secure the Champions Hockey Academy victory with an unassisted goal with 6:17 remaining in the game. Scott Leblance (16/17) made 16 saves for the win. 

Delta Hockey Academy Green (11) vs Prairie Hockey Academy (2) U15 Prep

Cortland LeMieux (1G, 3A) led all skaters with four points and Wyatt Callander (1G, 2A), Alexander Laing (2G, 1A) and Caden Leibel (2G, 1A) each had three point games as Delta Green defeated Prairie 11-2. Reg Huebner and Aaron Kowalyk scored for Prairie in the loss. Blake Clark (20/22) picked up the win in net for Delta. 

Delta Hockey Academy Black (3) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (4) U15 Prep

Davin Hart opened the scoring for Delta Black before Tristan Follick (1G, 2A) and Dalin Nixon responded with first period goals of their own for PCHA. Shane Moscatello and Kesler Curtis (1G, 1A) would give Delta Black the lead in the second but Treytin Frizzell (1G, 1A) would score just 36 seconds later to tie the game. In the third Tyson Jeske would score with 35 seconds left to give PCHA a 4-3 win. 

Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (4) vs Rink Hockey Academy Winnipeg (1) U17 Prep

Piet Mierau (42/43) made 42 saves and 2023 WHL Draft first round pick Carson Carels (2G) scored twice as Pilot Mound defeated RHA Winnipeg 4-1. Jake Brown and Zane Price (1G, 1A) added the other PMHA goals while Dwight Sawatzky (2A) recorded two assists. Carter Haney scored the lone RHA Winnipeg goal in the second period. 

Shawnigan Lake School (4) vs Bishop’s College School (6) Eastern U17

Shawnigan Lake jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals from Matthew MacKay (1G, 1A) and Easton Sangris before Logan Charby got Bishop’s College on the board 55 seconds later. Dominic Schnarr would tie the game in the second but John Park would restore the Shawnigan lead just minutes later. Bishop’s School would take a 4-3 lead heading into the third on a Masanori Black goal. Emanuel Di Paolo (1G, 1A) and Zach Jockers would score 1:03 apart in the third to put the game out of reach. Nolan Blankstein would score a late consolation goal for Shawnigan Lake. 

Ontario Hockey Academy Prep (7) vs Mount Academy (2) Eastern U18

Takanobu Hiraga, Tomas Lukes and Marcus Fjeld (2G, 1A) would all score within the first 5:53 of the game as OHA Prep took a commanding 3-0 lead. Brandon Gauthier would get Mount on the board midway through the first but second period goals from Jett Jock and Oliver Nilsgaard saw OHA Prep lead 5-1 after 40. OHA Prep would add two more goals in the third and George Foti (28/30) stopped 28 shots for his first win of the season. 

Okanagan Hockey Academy (3) vs Edge School (1) U15 Prep

Tristan Hoko, Eli Tverdovsky and Cooper Vogt provided all of the offence OHA would need with first period goals and Linden Sobocan (46/47) made 46 saves to backstop his team to a 3-1 win. Ben Oliverio would score short handed early in the third to provide Edge with their lone goal. 

Mount Academy (7) vs Fort Erie International Academy (2) Eastern U17

Jacob MacMillan-Dallai (1G, 1A) scored just 37 seconds in and Shane Delamaire (4G, 1A) found the back of the net four times as Mount Academy defeated FEIA 7-2. Cogan LeBlanc (3A) would chip in with three assists while Dylan St-Onge (20/22) made 20 saves in net to earn the win. Ryder Papatie and Samuel Schelling scored for FEIA in the loss. 

Fort Erie International Academy (7) vs Ontario Hockey Academy Gold (3) Eastern U18

Backed by three power play goals and four third period markers FEIA defeated OHA Gold 7-3 Thursday. Tyson Scott (2G) scored twice while John Adlys (2A) and Dylan Orr (2A) had two assists in the win. Jeremy Deschambault-Perron (1G, 1A), Vincenzo Di Rocco, and Louie White scored for OHA Gold in the loss. 

Yale Hockey Academy (2) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (3) U15 Prep

Memphis Adeniken opened the scoring with his first of the season and Jackson Tetreault extended the NAX lead early in the second. Ollie Reid would score on the power play late in the second to get Yale on the board before a Ben Harvey (1G, 1A) marker put NAX back on top by two. Yale would score another power play goal with 43 seconds left when Jacob Dumansky (1G, 1A)buried a shot from the slot but Oliver Bryks (25/27) would shut the door the rest of the way to secure an NAX victory. 

Notre Dame Team (1) vs Prairie Hockey Academy White (5) U17 Prep

Prairie White led 4-0 after 40 thanks to goals from Kale Pratte (1G, 1A), Rylan Aulin, Austin Gammon (2G), and Griffin Horne. Ryder Gilroy would break the Cameron Beisal (27/28) shutout bid 6:58 into the third. Gammon would score his second goal of the game with 27 seconds remaining to clinch a 5-1 PHA White win. 

OHA Edmonton (5) vs St. George’s School (6) U15 Prep

The two teams traded first period goals before OHA Edmonton scored three unanswered to grab a 4-2 lead heading into the third. Jacob Schwartz and Jason Gao (1G, 1A) would score 44 seconds apart to tie the game midway through the third. Walker Filewich would restore the OHA Edmonton lead but it was short lived as Jayan Sinha tied the game again 1:28 later and Brock Cripps (1G, 3A) scored his fourth of the season with less than four minutes remaining to complete the St. George’s comeback. 

RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (5) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (3) U15 Prep

Knox Burton opened the scoring 1:15 into the game as part of a five goal first period that saw RHA Winnipeg leading 3-2 after 20. After a scoreless second Max George and Cohen Lweko would score 13 seconds apart to extend the RHA Winnipeg advantage. Mathis Paull (1G, 1A) would get a late consolation goal for RHA Kelowna but Tate Barnaby (30/33) shut the door the rest of the way for his first win of the season.
