GAME DAY RECAP: September 27, 2025

Ontario Hockey Academy (2) vs Ulysse Academie (5) East U18 Prep

Our first match of the day took place in Saint-Roch-de-l’Achigan, QC, as Ulysse Academie hosted Ontario Hockey Academy. The opening twenty would see its fair share of chances, but no one could make a dent in the scoresheet. Fast forward to the second, and Ulysse would strike first as Alessandro Kowalski (1G, 1A) buried one in tight. However, OHA would respond instantly as Matvei Maklakov (1G, 1A) put away his first of the campaign. Ulysse would eventually take back the lead after Nathan Lajoie (1G, 1A) nabbed his first of the season. Ulysse would make a run for it in the third after Eliott Guevin (2G, 1A) scored a quick pair of goals to bolster Ulysse’s lead to two goals. Zachary Landry would put the icing on the cake, capitalizing on a breakaway to put Ulysse ahead by three. Benjamin Pilon (25/27) collected 25 saves in the winning effort.

Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy (3) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (5) U17 Prep

Collin Lee opened the scoring for PCHA shorthanded while Dane Dyer (2G, 1A) added a second to close out a successful first for the Sea Devils. However, that progress would be erased after Wenatchee took control in the second as Luca Lira and Jacobi Magnotta tied the contest up at 2-2. Owen Hyde (1G, 1A) would restore PCHA’s lead early in the second but was quickly matched by Alex Haglund’s shorthanded marker just over a minute later. Late in the third, Dyer would play hero, cramming a loose puck home in tight to secure the win for PCHA. Kaden Jeffrey would supply the empty netter. Wenatchee goaltender Mikai Mast (61/65) would put in a valiant effort in the loss, racking up 61 saves to give his team a chance.

Edge School (4) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (5/OT) U15 Prep

It was all Edge in the opening half as the potent first line of Brody Antignani (1G, 1A), Luke Bodtker, and Matteo Dufour (1G, 1A) would assist in building a 3-0 lead. RHA Winnipeg would show some pushback in the second with goals coming off the sticks of Wyatt Sydenham and Easton Pitz (2G, 1A). Keyn Lindberg would restore Edge’s two-goal advantage in the third. However, Declan Champagne would cut the deficit back down to one, allowing RHA Winnipeg to pull their goalie in the late stages. In heroic fashion, Pitz would place one top right to send this game to overtime. In the extra frame with only two seconds to spare, RHA Winnipeg’s David Ring would put home the GWG, capping off an impressive comeback over Edge School. Haize Brightnose (50/54) was key in RHA Winnipeg’s win, making 50 saves in the match.

Stanstead College (3) vs Rothesay Netherwood School (1) East U18 Prep

RNS would come out on top through a quiet first period as Kilian Alves Pereira put home his third of the season. However, Stanstead would find their footing in the second as Rimouski Oceanic prospect Aaron Chipp (2G) scored back-to-back goals to put Stanstead ahead through forty. Stanstead would hold on in the third with Juuso Mustonen putting the icing on the cake with the insurance marker. Jaxon Ford (18/19) walked away with the win between the pipes, making 18 saves in the process.

Yale Hockey Academy (5) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (2) U15

Brady Barrett (2G) scored the lone goal of the first for Yale, making a crisp move on the breakaway before sliding it five-hole. Yale would keep pouring on the offence in the second with Carson MacLean (2G, 1A) and Barrett adding more goals to their tally. Landen Gray would break the scoreless drought for RHA Kelowna, ripping one five-hole to bring them to within two before the third. However, Yale would keep their composure in the third, adding another two to secure a 5-2 win. 2013-born defender, Matthew Tang (1G, 2A), put on a strong display from the blueline, adding three points and his first career CSSHL goal.

North Shore Warriors (7) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy Black (1) Female U18 Prep

Following a scoreless first, North Shore would find their offensive groove, scoring three unanswered in the second period. North Shore would keep this pattern going in the third, adding another four goals to ultimately take this contest 7-1. Alexa Roberts (2G, 1A) would lead the charge offensively with three points, while five separate skaters also recorded goals. Shriya Bhatt would score the lone goal for OHA Black.

South Alberta Hockey Academy (8) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (1) U15 Prep

After Aiden Kelly opened the scoring for Pilot Mound, SAHA would tighten their grasp and run away with this one, scoring eight unanswered goals. Four skaters would register three points, with Mason Bryksa (2G, 1A) leading the way with a pair of goals. Patrick Curtis (19/20) registered his second win of the campaign, making 19 saves in the win for SAHA.

Edge School (5) vs OHA Edmonton (6) U15

Edge School would take the lead through a back-and-forth opening twenty with Gio Niven (3G) scoring the difference maker late in the frame. Niven would go on to add two more to polish off his hat-trick in the second, extending Edge School’s lead to three. However, a late goal from Max Holland (1G, 1A) would generate some momentum in OHA Edmonton’s favour before the ice clean. OHA Edmonton would take control in the third, scoring three unanswered to complete the comeback over Edge. Jack Kuzio would net the game winner while Bronson Kasturi (22/27) picked up the win between the pipes.

North Shore Warriors (1) vs Delta Hockey Academy White (7) U15

Two-goal outings from Sajan Chatha (2G, 1A) and Parker Fast (2G) highlighted a 7-1 victory for Delta White as they defended home ice against their regional rivals. Cody Simmons would score the lone goal for North Shore in the third while Ayaan Rao (42/49) made 42 saves in the loss. Tyler Rydberg (18/19) registered the win in goal, making 18 saves for Delta White.

North Shore Warriors (2) vs Yale Hockey Academy (4) U17 Prep

The opening weekend of U17 Prep action sees the North Shore Warriors play once and Yale Hockey Academy twice, with a date with Shawnigan Lake School tomorrow following their first game of the season against North Shore. YHA scored first through Nicholas Voinea (1G, 2A) before Daniel Harvard scored again to make it 2-0. North Shore conceding two goals in less than three second-period minutes was a debilitating blow, and while NSW goals from Haydn Goetzinger and Marshall Lyons pulled the Warriors back into the game, it wasn’t enough. Daniel Harvard’s second-period goal didn’t end his day. Harvard scored in the third period to make it 3-1 YHA, a goal that stood as the game-winner, before Harvard ultimately capped his hat-trick off into an empty net. Yale won 4-2 to open their U17 Prep season.

OHA Edmonton (8) vs Calgary International Hockey Academy (6) U15 Prep

Calgary International Hockey Academy will feel slightly hard done by losing their season opener last weekend; they scored seven, often enough for victory, but conceded nine in their loss to Edge School. OHA Edmonton’s U15 Prep team had CIHA in their crosshairs on Saturday for their first game of the year, and their offensive output would suggest they had their legs underneath them. OHAE led 6-2 through forty minutes of play, but much in the same manner that CIHA’s game went against Edge School, they’d push back offensively hard in the third period. George Matheos (3G, 1A) scored two in the third to complete a hat-trick, but CIHA’s push ultimately ended without the success of a comeback. Kane Strudwick and Marek Pashko (1G, 2A) both scored in the third period for OHAE, helping them prevail by an 8-6 scoreline, leaving CIHA’s comeback short of what was needed. Jaxon Weisgerber finished a hat-trick in the second period for OHAE, ultimately crucial in the two-goal victory.

Prairie Hockey Academy (1) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (8) U15

Back to the U15 division, Prairie Hockey Academy’s weekend series in Winnipeg against the Manitoba-based RINK Hockey Academy contingent started in heartbreak, thanks to RHAW’s Nash Smook scoring in overtime a mere 15 seconds into the extra frame. Unlike their PHA counterparts, RINK Winnipeg already had their season well underway coming into this weekend, having ripped through last weekend’s four games in Calgary, seeing them beat CIHA and Edge School twice each. After the overtime victory last night, RHAW forged forward with the goal of extending their winning streak even further than the five victories they started the year with. RHAW and PHA played a hard-fought first period that saw RINK escape with a 2-1 lead, but from there, it was RINK Winnipeg’s night. Jax Fellner (2G) and Liam Hailstone (1G, 1A) led the way in what resulted in an 8-1 RHA Winnipeg victory.

Yale Hockey Academy (15) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (0) U15 Prep

The U15 Prep division soldiered on Saturday, with a pair of teams playing their second head-to-head games in as many days. Yale Hockey Academy won big over RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna on Friday, with RHAK falling 10-3 on home ice, and Yale remaining perfect after their win over Delta Hockey Academy two weeks ago. RHA Kelowna won twice over the North Shore Warriors last weekend, and now sitting on two wins and one loss, Saturday marked an opportunity for RHAK to stay above a .500 record. Yale’s offensive domination from last night looked somewhat weak in contrast to what they produced today, especially in the first two periods, in which YHA scored 12 goals on 54 shots. Teagan Dernisky (4G, 2A), Parker McMillan (2G, 6A), Hayden Zygarliski (3G, 1A), Connor Baines (2G, 3A), and Lukas Bachler (5A) led the way for Yale in big point nights. Yale scored a couple more in the third period to put a cherry on top of what resulted in a 15-0 victory.

BWC Academy (4) vs Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (3) U15

Burnaby Winter Club’s first game of the season was a heartbreaker, with an excellent effort ending in a 6-5 defeat at the hands of Delta Hockey Academy Black. Coeur d’Alene, conversely, beat the North Shore Warriors twice, including a thrilling 8-7 win in their first. BWC beat CDA in last night’s weekend opener, winning an 8-5 thriller in the first of three head-to-head matchups. An early goal from Reed Witham gave CDA a lead, but BWC rallied, scoring one at the end of the first and two early in the second to lead 3-1. The two-goal lead proved flimsy, however. Two CDA goals in less than two minutes pulled the hosts back to level ground, but late in the second period, Mars Zhang (1G, 1A) scored to break the three-all tie. Logan Hooper (1G, 2A) and Owen Chapman (1G, 1A) both had big games for BWC, and William Houle stood tall to preserve a scoreless third period and BWC a 4-3 win.

Fort Erie International Academy (4/OT) vs Okanagan Hockey Ontario (3) East U17

Okanagan Hockey Ontario felt they had a score to settle against Fort Erie International Academy. Back on September 14, FEI pumped OHO in an 8-2 game, with Saturday’s game giving OHO a chance at redemption. Luka Lang (2G) opened the scoring for OHO, but FEI took the offensive torch from there. Jackson Power, Etienne Guo, and Alexis Timbro scored to pull FEI two goals ahead, but as was seen throughout the day, the two-goal lead proved flimsy at best. Lang’s second pulled OHO back within one before Emilion Martinez struck to tie things up late in the third period and force overtime. Despite Okanagan Hockey Ontario’s third-period comeback, they couldn’t continue their momentum into overtime. Charles-Antoine Racette scored merely 57 seconds into overtime, giving Fort Erie their second victory in as many head-to-head matchups against OHO. Their opponents fought hard, forcing overtime after the big defeat to FEI in the first matchup, but OHO ultimately came up short.

Delta Hockey Academy (4/OT) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (3) U17

Delta Hockey Academy’s U17 squad had been ripping through their season leading up to their game against Okanagan Hockey Academy last night. Six straight DHA victories was stopped by OHA in a contest that ended 3-2 for Okanagan, and the two teams playing their second game in as many days on Saturday. Delta were fighting from behind from ostensibly the outset of the game; two OHA goals within 42 first-period seconds gave Okanagan an early lead. Delta were eventually rewarded for their fight, and similar to their opponents, it was a pair of quick-fire goals to do the job. Sam Hioe and Jovan Sandhu (1G, 1A) scored themselves in the span of 24 seconds to pull DHA back to tied, a score that would hold until the later stages of the third period. Nathan Maruqes scored his second goal of the game shorthanded to propel OHA back into the lead, but it was a lead that lasted under three minutes. Saajun Aujla (1G, 1A) struck back, pulling Delta to level once more. An entertaining overtime was controlled by DHA predominantly, and despite never having led in the game, they got their winner. Josh Racic scored with a mere 14 seconds left in the overtime period, sparing the game a shootout, and earning Delta’s U17 squad their seventh win in their first eight games.

Northern Alberta Xtreme (0) vs Balmoral Hall School (10) Female U18 Prep

Balmoral Hall School’s Female U18 Prep contingent pressed the gas pedal all the way down on Saturday against the Northern Alberta Xtreme, exemplified by the never-ceasing pressure throughout. Ultimately, Balmoral ended up sending 61 shots on target, including 28 in a second period that saw them score five goals. Ultimately, Balmoral ended up scoring ten. Mya Rosenbaum (3G, 1A), Lydia Hill (3G), Hudson Bradley (2G, 1A), Matylda Stepien (4A), Payton Henwood (3A) all had dominant nights themselves, and while there wasn’t much pressure on Mimi Ferreira in the Balmoral goal, she still made 16 stops for a shutout.

Northern Alberta Xtreme (5) vs Notre Dame Hounds (1) U15

Northern Alberta Xtreme’s U15 squad rolled through their opening weekend, triumphing over OHA Edmonton and Edge School, while the Notre Dame Hounds awaited NAX for their season opener. The two teams face each other once again on Sunday, but it took NAX some time to get their legs going. In a first period that saw nine penalties and a combined 22 penalty minutes between the two teams, it was unsurprisingly special teams to open things up. NAX took two quick penalties, finding themselves on the wrong end of a five-on-three, on which Notre Dame struck. Tripp Simms opened the scoring for Notre Dame, but from there, the Hounds were outclassed. The goal lit an almost immediate fire under NAX, and they weren’t behind for long. They weren’t even behind for the duration of the penalty they still had to kill, with Mason Zimmer (1G, 1A) scoring shorthanded to pull his team level after trailing for a mere 44 seconds. Eventually, the penalty problems were shared enough that NAX found themselves with multiple first-period power-play opportunities. They scored twice in quick succession through Corbin Blatz and Cale Royer, with three special teams goals suddenly propelling NAX into a two-goal advantage. From there, Northern Alberta flexed their muscles, not profusely filling the net, but dominating enough to stay in control. Through sixty minutes, NAX outshot Notre Dame 49-17 and won 5-1. The Hounds will have a chance at redemption tomorrow, while NAX has an opportunity to seal their fourth straight victory to start the season.

BWC Academy (2) vs Delta Hockey Academy (5) U15 Prep

Burnaby Winter Club’s U15 Prep team started their season with a victory over the North Shore Warriors last night, doing so in emphatic fashion, winning 8-2. Delta fell in their season opener, an overtime loss to Yale, before a huge win of their own over PCHA last weekend brought them to one win and one loss to start their September schedule. BWC picked up where they left off offensively, with Wyatt Lowther (1G, 1A) scoring the lone first-period goal to give his team the lead through one. From there, though, it was Delta’s night, as two goals in twenty second period seconds swung the tide back in their favour. Miles Teiffel tied it, Ronan Gow made it 2-1, and Carson Brown (1G, 1A) extended the lead to 3-1 through two periods. Delta’s 3-1 lead through two was cut into by Ryder Bui’s goal for BWC early in the third, but Nathan Roberts helped Delta further with the 4-2 goal, and Delta ended up with a 5-2 victory. BWC’s loss leads them to one win and one loss through their first two games. They’ll have the opportunity on home ice tomorrow to improve their record back above .500.

OHA Edmonton (5) vs Edge School (6/OT) U17

The U17 game Saturday between OHA Edmonton and Edge School swung in both directions, with the goal scoring back-and-forth throughout. Both teams traded goals throughout the first period, with three Edge School leads countered by three tying goals from OHA Edmonton. OHAE took their first lead of the game early in the second, but after going behind, Edge School’s Brik McCord Cooper scored his second goal of the game to pull things back to 4-4. Later, Easton Armstrong scored to give Edge their lead back, but the hosts couldn’t hold on. Hunter Jacobs (1G, 2A) struck in the third, forcing overtime at the end of a 5-5 game. Trent Caines (1G, 1A) for Edge School lugged the puck down the left side on the ice, eventually taking the shot on himself on a two-on-one rush. Caines’ second goal of the season ended the game in Edge School victory, winning the see-saw game 6-5.

BWC Academy (2) vs Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (3/SO) U17

Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy’s U17 squad have a tall task this weekend; back-to-back games against a Burnaby Winter Club Academy team that scored six goals in each of two victories last weekend to open up their season. CDA goaltender Gunner Podollan stole the show early, fighting off 28 of 29 shots through two periods. A pair of Mitch Wells goals saw Coeur d’Alene take a 2-1 lead into the third period. With 45 seconds remaining, down 2-1, BWC took an unfortunate too many men penalty. With a power play and ahead by a goal, CDA looked primed to survive. However, BWC would get one more chance, and Kaz Westcott (2A) sprung Max Joseph on a shorthanded breakaway. Joseph scored with 17 seconds remaining on the clock, tying the game up. Both teams traded chances in overtime, but after 65 minutes, the game ended 2-2. BWC outshot the hosts 43-29, with Podollan making 41 stops to force the shootout. Kirill Zhikharev (1A) scored the only goal of the shootout, with CDA dodging the bullet of blowing the victory late by winning the shootout.

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (3) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (5) U15

Interestingly enough, both Pacific Coast Hockey Academy and Okanagan Hockey Academy have two head-to-head games today; their U15 squads face off Saturday afternoon in Penticton and their U15 Prep teams play Saturday evening on the same sheet of ice. The earlier U15 game looked to be all PCHA early. Austin Christian (1G, 1A), Brayden Castelsky (1G, 1A), and Koen Nicholas all scored first-period goals within 1:50 of one another to propel PCHA into a big lead after a first period that saw them outshoot OHA 17-6. An early second-period power play for OHA proved the start of a swing of momentum in their direction. Ben Delege scored on the man-advantage, and less than three minutes later, Kristian Bowen scored to make it 3-2. The game felt like OHA’s from there, and Lukas Pandachuk earned his third assist of the second period by feeding Vincent Biro the pass that led to Biro cashing in the game-tying goal. Through two, the teams had scored three goals in one period apiece, with OHA having come from behind to tie the game. Biro took no more than 80 seconds of the third period to score the go-ahead goal, and after conceding three in the first, Jonah Gamble made every save he needed to make in the third period. Gamble ended up with 30 saves on 33 shots, and an empty-net goal helped OHA to the come-from-behind 5-3 victory.

Delta Hockey Academy Black (9) vs St. George’s School (2) U15

Delta Hockey Academy Black won thrice in their first three U15 games of the year, winning a thriller over BWC before comfortable wins over Okanagan Hockey Academy and PCHA. Unfortunately for St. George School, their season opener saw them fall 8-1 against the same OHA team beaten last weekend by DHA Black. It’s rare for a hockey game to have that many goals at all, meaning the nine seen in SGS’s first game of the season doesn’t often occur. But, how about nine goals in one period? After Alan Qiu (1G, 1A) scored 40 seconds into the first period for St. George’s, an avalanche of Delta Black goals followed. Kevin Goodale and Nate Anderson scored twice apiece, and Bentley Gillis scored his seventh of the season as Delta ended up outscoring SGS 7-2 in the first twenty minutes alone. Anybody tuning in from the second period onwards expecting nine goals per period, however, would have been disappointed from there. That was largely due to Rhys Williams in the St. George’s net, who, after conceding seven in the first, made 36 saves on 38 shots in the final two periods of play. Delta ultimately won 9-2, outshooting St. George’s 67-31 in the process.

North Shore Warriors (0) vs STAR Hockey Academy (4) U17

STAR Hockey Academy would have been really hoping that “home, sweet home” would apply after back-to-back weekends on the road to start the season. Their first saw them lose twice against Delta, followed by two losses to BWC. North Shore, likewise, hadn’t yet won so far in the U17 division, with losses to Delta and PCHA marking a disappointing start to the season. The tilt of the ice was evident from the outset; STAR Hockey Academy outshot North Shore 13-3 in the first and 17-4 in the second periods, peppering Warriors goaltender Ben Boudreau (37/41) with countless grade-A scoring chances. North Shore survived through the first period, but second-period goals from Eli Solberg, Braden Payne (1G, 1A), and Graham Gerritz (1G, 1A) helped STAR pull ahead. STAR goaltender Ry Jeffries didn’t have an incredibly stressful game, but stopped seven of seven in the third to cap off a 14-save shutout ahead of North Shore and STAR’s rematch tomorrow.

Delta Hockey Academy Green (5) vs Shawnigan Lake School (1) Female U18 Prep

The start of Delta Hockey Academy Green and Shawnigan Lake School’s Female U18 Prep seasons established great familiarity between the two sides, with three games in three nights at the Charlie Purdey arena kicking off the season. Through the first two games, Delta Green established themselves as the better of the two teams. A 5-0 victory on Friday was followed by a similarly dominant performance over Shawnigan on Saturday. Delta opened the game up in the second period, jumping out to a 4-0 lead less than halfway through the game. Adie Schneider (1G, 1A) scored the first for Delta, with DHAG getting five goals from five different goal scorers en route to the 5-1 win. Mya Young’s season debut saw her make 22 saves on 23 shots for the victory, with DHA Green having the chance to sweep the season series tomorrow.

Okanagan Hockey Academy (0) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (4) Female U18 Prep

Both Okanagan Hockey Academy and RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna have merely one game apiece, this battle, in the entire month of September in the Female U18 Prep division. At the start of a season, with both teams void of any big game action, it’s often shining performances that help teams to victory. On Saturday, RHA Kelowna got those performances from three key players. Coming off 24 goals and 63 points in this division last season, Alida Korte stood out, with two goals and one assist. Likewise, returnee Kennedy Sisson had a big performance, matching Korte’s two goals and one assist for three points. The last piece of the puzzle for the RHAK victory was their goaltender, with Jaya Schippel stopping each of the 24 shots she faced in the game. Schippel’s shutout and the three-point performances from Korte and Sisson propelled RHA Kelowna to the 4-0 victory, leaving OHA’s U18 Prep team looking ahead to next weekend to earn their redemption.

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (2) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (5) U15 Prep

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy’s season opener, unfortunately, couldn’t have gone any worse. Delta sent 73 shots on PCHA’s goal, including a third period that saw PCHA outshot 25-3. DHA prevailed 11-2. Okanagan Hockey Academy started with a 6-2 victory over the North Shore Warriors, with OHA doing all six goals worth of their damage in the first two periods, and leading 5-0 prior to the game’s halfway mark. Jaiden Naslund gave OHA the lead through one, and while Mason Sokolosky’s early second-period goal tied the game, OHA took off from there. A pair of goals from Mason Liebel and Cooper deWal’s (1G, 1A) second goal of the season gave OHA a 4-1 lead through forty minutes of play, outshooting PCHA by a 34-9 margin after the second period. PCHA and OHA traded third-period goals from there, with OHA’s 5-2 victory giving them two in two games to start their U15 prep season.
