Delta Hockey Academy (5) vs North Shore Warriors (1) U15
in the first U15 game of the 2022/23 season, Delta held a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes of play before outshooting North Shore 36-10 in the final 40, earning a 5-1 victory. Kesler Curtis (1G, 1A) and Treyce Pavlic (2A) led the way offensively for Delta, while Alexander Laing scored the first goal of the U15 season for Delta. Sean Murphy scored the lone North Shore goal and netminder Oscar Hicik stopped 46 of 51 shots.
Edge School (3) vs OHA Edmonton (0) U16 Prep
The lone U16 Prep game of the day saw Edge School defeat OHA Edmonton 3-0. Lachlan Hanton would give Edge a 1-0 lead just 29 seconds into the game, and a Lucas Frame (1G,1A) goal 13 minutes later saw Edge grab a 2-0 advantage heading into the second. After a scoreless second Lincoln Martin would score shorthanded 1:42 into the third period to secure the 3-0 victory. Brooke Davis made 24 saves to pick up the first shutout of the 2022/23 season.
Okanagan Hockey Academy (3) vs OHA Edmonton (2) U15
Brody Bradshaw would give OHA a 1-0 lead just 0:57 seconds into the game before a scoreless second period. Ethan Dimand and Zephyr Harms (1G, 1A) would score four minutes apart in the third as it looked like OHA would cruise to victory. But OHA Edmonton would score two goals in the final three minutes to make things interesting, but ultimately would fail to find an equalizer as Tyson Kuiack made 37 saves for the win. Oliver Bryks made 34 saves for OHA Edmonton in the loss.
Northern Alberta Xtreme (5) vs Edge School (4) U15
NAX would explode for four goals in the first period as they took a commanding early lead. Edge would win the second period 2-1 to give them some life heading into the third, where they would outshoot NAX 22-8 and score twice to bring them within one. Cam Hoose (37/41) was able to shut the door the rest of the way, securing an NAX victory. Edge forward Nathan Cole recorded a hattrick while Mirco Dufour, Sam McLean, and Reeve Waugh all had two assists. Kale Breton (2A), Gavin Harrison (1G,1A,) and Jackson Tetreault (2G) led the way for NAX.
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (6) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (4) U17 Prep
A back and forth game saw the two teams trade first period goals before each scoring three times in the second period. Deadlocked at 4-4, Kelsen Podworny (1G, 1A) would break the tie and give RHA Kelowna the lead with less than four minutes remaining. A shorthanded empty net goal by Ryker Rougeau (2G, 1A) would secure the win. Brody Martin scored twice for OHA in the loss.
Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (5/SO) vs Shawnigan Lake School (4)
Logan Bainbridge opened the scoring 1:45 into the first as Shawnigan jumped out to a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes of play. Three second period goals from Pacific Coast would give them a 4-3 lead heading into the third, before Eliot Compton (1G, 2A) would tie the game midway through the final 20 to force overtime. Overtime settled nothing as the two teams headed to a shootout. Ryan Zhang and Noah Gebicki (1G, 1A) would each score for Pacific Coast while Koen Cleaver (34/38) would stop both Shawnigan shooters.
BWC Academy (7) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (2) U15
Tobin Schaefer (2G, 1A) scored twice and Connor Liu had three assists as BWC Academy defeated RHA Kelowna 7-2. BWC Academy went 2/5 on the power play and six skaters record multi-point games. Kesler Hamilton and Ryan Sadovia scored for RHA Kelowna in the loss. Cash Christie made 23 saves to earn the win, while Cohen Fowler stopped 37 of 44 shots.
Yale Hockey Academy (6) vs St. George’s School (4) U15
St. George’s led 2-0 after 20 thanks to goals from Byron Chin (3G) and Jason Gao but goals 37 seconds apart in the middle of the second frame would tie the game at two. Chin would add two more and one from Yale forward Adrian Comeau (1G,1A) would see St. George’s up 4-3 nearing the end of the third. But Yale would score three goals in the final four minutes to claim a 6-4 victory in the final game of the night.
