PHA’s Drake Mooney (53/59) fended off an onslaught of shots from the defending U17 Prep champions, CIHA, giving his squad a fighting chance at securing the win in their season opener. However, Prairie would come off one short as CIHA’s Mason Moran (1G, 3A) chipped in on four of Calgary’s six tallies. Zane Rains (2G, 1A) would also pick up a pair to kick off the season while Logan Penston, Aidan McIntosh and Aedan McCarry slotted the other markers for CIHA. Bragg Creek, AB’s Ethan Mann (21/26) picked up the win in net for CIHA.

Camille Birch (1G, 1A) would restore North Shore’s lead shortly after but a buzzer beater from Waugh with five-seconds remaining in the frame would be enough to eventually force an overtime and a shootout. Lily Zohner (2A) would hand NSW the early advantage in the shootout before Emma Biros levelled the playing field in the second round. Ultimately, Jaylah Bottle would nab the winner in the third round, handing North Shore the victory. Haylie Hedges (36/38) made 36-saves in the season opening triumph while Sonja Reed (40/42) hit the 40 mark, stealing a point for Delta Black.

St. George’s School (1) vs Yale Hockey Academy (3) U17 Prep
Daniel Havard (1G, 1A) buried one on the powerplay just over a minute into play for Yale before Byron Chin brought St. George’s School back into the competition with time dwindling in the frame. St. George’s momentum was quickly shot down in the second after Adrien Comeau snuck past a shorthanded goal only 37-seconds into the third. Carson Lang (28/29) would shut the gate for the final 40-minutes, turning aside all 18-shots in the previously mentioned time frame. Kamloops, BC’s Macguire Newman would add the dagger late in the third to confirm Yale’s victory in their home opener.
North Shore Warriors (2) vs RHA Kelowna (4) U17 AAA
Steady back and forth action was the name of the game early in Winfield, BC this afternoon until Maximillian Köppel wired home a shorthanded marker after stripping it away in his own zone. Wesley Morrison (1G, 1A) would bury a feed from Noah Russo early in the second to erase RHA Kelowna’s lead. However, Tate Serfas (1G, 1A) would blast home a one-timer halfway through the frame to restore RHA Kelowna’s lead. Kaustav Pradeep would build on RHA Kelowna’s lead early in the third. Despite a late push, RHA Kelowna would hold on to secure their first win of the season with a consistent offensive performance and the steady goalkeeping from William Stewart (28/30).
Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (1) vs Wenatchee Wild (2/SO) U18 Prep
Geon Park got it all started offensively for Wenatchee in what would be a tight knit game. Wenatchee would stifle all of CDA’s chances but would fall just short with 10-seconds left after Kash Benson made his mark with the buzzer beater to force extra time. A shootout was eventually needed where markers from Wenatchee’s Otaro Inoue and Gregor Ermellini would secure the Wild their sought after victory. Bennett Byers (42/43) turned aside 40+ shots for the second straight start while Nathaniel Madrigal (31/32) picked up the win in goal, just shy of the shutout.
STAR Hockey Academy (3) vs RHA Kelowna (5) U15 AAA
After splitting goals late in the first, STAR got off on the right foot in the second with the go ahead goal from Mason Olson. However, RHA Kelowna would rally back with four unanswered over the next two periods with Hayden Carpenter coming out of it with the eventual game winner.
