Game Day Recap: October 5-7, 2021

Prairie Hockey Academy (4) vs Notre Dame Hounds (1) U16 Prep

Despite outshooting Prairie 23-9 in the first period, Notre Dame found themselves down 1-0 after one. Prairie would go on to outshoot Notre Dame 37-18 in the final 40, picking up their first win of the season in their home opener, defeating Notre Dame 4-1. Tyson Borshneck made 38 saves and Bryson Aikens, Dylan Duzan, Brady Magarrell, and Dayton Reschny (1G,1A) scored for Prairie. Defenseman Ryder Ellis picked up two assists in the win. Bauer Genest scored for Notre Dame, while Ethan McCallum made 42 saves in the loss. 

Notre Dame Hounds (5/SO) vs Prairie Hockey Academy (4) U17 Prep

The first battle of the season between the two Saskatchewan U17 Prep teams took 65 minutes plus six shooters to decide as Notre Dame beat Prairie 5-4 in a shootout. Four different skaters scored in regulation for Notre Dame including Gabriel Bugeaud who had a goal and an assist, his first two points of the 2021/22 season. Macade Ochitwa scored twice and added an assist for Prairie, who were playing their first game of the new campaign. Josh Muir made 29 saves in regulation and overtime, and stopped two of three Prairie skaters in the shootout to earn the victory. Silas Currie made 49 saves in the loss. 

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (1) vs Shawnigan Lake School (5) U18 Prep

Dallas Earl and Coden Fournier each scored their second and third goals of the season as Shawnigan defeated Pacific Coast 5-1. Sean Walia made 20 saves and Marcello Giorgi, Cole Patterson, and Ionatan Raatikainen all assisted on two goals in the win. Carson Lesiuk scored the lone Pacific Coast goal while Damon Cunningham made 44 saves in the loss.
