Game Day Recap: October 23, 2022

St. George’s School (5) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (1) U15

St.George’s School got out to a three-goal lead after the first period, with goals from Byron Chin, Jason Gao and Keenan Canales. They would continue to push the pace offensively throughout the game, firing 37 shots towards the RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna net. Lukasz McIsaac and Ishaan Sharma would extend the lead to 5-0, but in the final minute of the game, Harry Watson scored his first goal of the season for RHA Kelowna, breaking the shutout bid for Les Toth, who made 14 saves for the win.

North Shore Warriors (2) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (14) U15

Maxx Parfitt put on a dazzling offensive 6-point hat-trick performance with three goals and three assists in the game for Okanagan Hockey Academy. Cooper Vogt is credited with the game-winning goal after scoring his sixth goal of the season as OHA fired 69 shots on net as they ultimately secured their sixth win on the season (6-3-0).

RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (2) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (6) U18 Prep

Hayden Paupanekis opened the scoring for RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg just 2:15 into the game but it was an uphill battle from there. Drew Williamson scored late in the period to tie the game, and added another in the third for Northern Alberta Xtreme. A powerplay goal from Avery Laliberte drew RHA Winnipeg within a goal early in the third period, but Jason Huang, Lukas Kaplan and Dylan Ronald scored three-unanswered to propel NAX to the win.

OHA Edmonton (8) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (4) U15 Prep

Patrick Sopiarz registered a hat-trick, scoring three goals and adding three assists, while Kayden Lemire notched seven-points with two goals and five helpers, as OHA Edmonton doubled up Pilot Mound Hockey Academy on Sunday. Rowan Houweling turned aside 17 shots to pick up the win in net for OHAE. Jack Perrier scored two goals in response for Pilot Mound Hockey Academy in the loss.

St. George’s School (7) vs Shawnigan Lake School (2) U15 Prep

St. George’s School fired 64 shots on the Shawnigan Lake School net, leading to a big day offensively. Sam Auld scored a hat-trick for the Saints, with Brenden Morgan and Henry Liu adding three assists each in the game. On the other side, Eli McKamey scored twice for Shawnigan Lake School, including a powerplay marker. Kyle Taylor registered the win between the pipes for St. George’s, turning aside 20 of 22 shots.

Northern Alberta Xtreme (7) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (2) U15 Prep

Northern Alberta Xtreme remains unbeaten on the season improving their record to 7-0-0. Knox Bendera opened the scoring for his third goal of the year for NAX and tallied his eleventh assist on Owen Chapman’s second goal of the game with a minute left in the first. Daxon Yerex and Koy Funk with RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg both answered back with a goal a piece bringing the score to 2-2. NAX’s Nolan Stewart and Ben Harvey each scored a goal and ended the second period 4-3. NAX scored three more goals to seal the deal.

RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (9) vs Delta Hockey Academy (0) U16 Prep

Cole Serdachny had five assists for RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna, while Aidan Fisher added a goal and three assists in the game. Forward Julian Galenza scored twice for his 5th and 6th on the year. Both of Delta Hockey Academy’s netminders factored in the game with Jake Poblete making 14-saves and Shay McViker making 15-saves. The win for RINK Kelowna improved their record to 7-1-0 on the season. 

Edge School (7) vs BWC Academy (5) U15

A high scoring affair saw Edge defeat BWC Academy 7-5 Sunday. Edge forwards  Mirco Dufour (3G) and Luke Jamieson (3G) each recorded hattricks, while Nathan Cole (1G, 2A) registered three points. Ermolai Yarygin (1G, 2A) led the BWC Academy offence with a three point game of his own. 

Yale Hockey Academy (4) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (6) U15

Gavin Bradley would open the scoring for Yale while Harry Mattern would respond for NAX as the two teams entered the second tied at 1-1. An action packed second period would see Yale hold a 4-3 lead after 40 minutes of play. Jackson Tetreault would tie the game just 53 seconds into the third, and Jaggar John would score the eventual winner shorthanded with 6:30 remaining. A Thayne Wasyluk marker 2:21 later would secure the NAX comeback win.

Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (1) vs OHA Edmonton (8) U18 Prep

Landen McFadden would score just 1:35 into the game, kickstarting a five goal first period for OHA Edmonton. Two more goals in the second, and one early in the third would give OHA Edmonton a comfortable 8-0 lead. Justin Shih would end Luke Roberts (18/19) shutout bid with 3:39 remaining in the game. Miles Gordon stopped 72 of the 80 shots he faced. 

North Shore Warriors (1) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (12) U15 Prep

OHA would improve to 6-1-1 with a 12-1 win over North Shore. Will Scott (6A), Zee Jamal (4A), Markus Ruck (4A), and Riley Steen (1G, 3A) would lead the OHA offence. Liam Ruck would record a hattrick, while Micah Davidson (10/11) would earn the win in net. Logan McAloney (58/70) faced 70 shots in the loss. 

RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (6) vs Notre Dame (2) U16 Prep

With a 6-2 win Sunday RHA Winnipeg improved to 8-0-1 on the season. Tied at 1-1 after one, RHA Winnipeg would score three second period goals, including two by Connor Bear (3G, 1A). Nick Wytrychowski would score early in the third to give Notre Dame life, but Wyatt Stinton (2G) would score two goals in a span of 43 seconds to secure victory for RHA Winnipeg. 

Notre Dame (2) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (4) U17 Prep

Pilot Mound would score twice on the powerplay and kill off all five Notre Dame odd man advantages en route to a 4-2 victory. Jack Smith (2G) and Ryder Stimson (2G, 1A) would score 2:13 apart in the first as PMHA grabbed a 2-1 lead heading into the intermission. Stimson would score again just 2:22 into the second, before Matt O’Toole would bring Notre Dame back within one heading into the third. Smith would score his second of the game late in the third and Quinn Burfoot would stop 39 of 41 shots to give PMHA the victory. 

RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (5) vs Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (1) U18 Prep

RHA Kelowna would fire 58 shots at Alex Illus (53/58) and Preston Patenaude stopped 33 of 34 for the win. Hudson Kibblewhite (2G, 1A) and Bronson Ross opened the scoring for RHA Kelowna while Reegan Kominko scored early in the first to give his team a 3-0 lead. Ripley Garden would respond for CDA just 34 seconds later, but third period goals by Kibblewhite and Cole Balkovec (1G, 1A) would secure the RHA Kelowna win. 

BWC Academy (9) vs Delta Hockey Academy (4) U18 Prep

BWC Academy scored the first four goals of the game as they held a 4-0 lead just 22:04 into the game. Bryan Kim would score 29 seconds after the fourth BWC Academy goal, starting a run of three straight Delta goals. But Liam Payne (2G, 1A) and Carter Lundie (2G, 1A) would score late in the second to restore a three goal BWC Academy lead. Three more consecutive BWC Academy goals, and a late tally by Sean Minhas for Delta would see the game end 9-4. 

Delta Hockey Academy (6) vs OHA Edmonton (3) U15

In the final game of the U15 showcase, Delta defeated OHA Edmonton 6-3. Alexander Laing (1G, 2A) would score just 1:59 in, and Delta would score three straight, to hold a 3-0 advantage heading into the third. After being unable to find the back of the net in the opening 40, OHA Edmonton would score three goals, all by Tyson Chrunik (3G) in the third. But Delta would equal this tally to secure the victory. Jack Morgan (1G, 2A) and Treyce Pavlic (2G, 1A) would record three point games for Delta in the win. 

Shawnigan Lake School (2) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (4) U18 Prep

PCHA would score the first three goals of the game before Cole Patterson and Josh Polak would respond for Shawnigan to bring them within one. This was as close as they would get, as Grady Sluggett (2G,1A) would score an empty net goal with 1:16 remaining. Ryan Parker (38/4) would make 38 saves and Jordan Ramsay (1G, 2A) would record three points in the win. 

Delta Hockey Academy Black (0) vs BWC Academy (4) U15 Prep

Cole Dowling (42/42) stopped all 42 shots he faced, backstopping BWC Academy to a 4-0 victory over Delta Black. Gianni Bosa (1G,), Jonathan Lee (2G) and Dominic Seminoff (1G, 1A) scored for BWC Academy in the win, while Logan Lepinski (2A) recorded two assists. Korbin Rodel (34/38) was in net for Delta Black in the loss.
