Game Day Recap – October 10, 2021

 

RINK Kelowna (5) at Delta Hockey Academy (2) U16 Prep

RINK Kelowna picked up their seventh straight win (7-0-0) with a 5-2 decision over Delta Hockey Academy. Cole Balkovec scored his third goal of the season with just 11 seconds left in the first period to give RINK Kelowna the lead. Logan Hamilton (2G,1A)  added to that lead with his first of two goals in the game, while Maddox Watson (1G,1A) scored the game-winning goal at 3:58 of the third period to keep RINK Kelowna’s winning streak alive. 

West Van Academy (2) at BWC Academy (6) U18 Prep

Nico Grabas registered a natural hat-trick, scoring three times in a row to open the game. He scored at 1:14 of the first period, and added two more goals in the second period, to give BWC Academy a 3-0 lead. Ryder McIntosh (1G,2A) added some insurance late in the game with his fourth of the season, while Charlie Tritt made 20 saves in the win.

BWC Academy (2) at Okanagan Hockey Academy (6) U16 Prep

Peyton Dickie (2G,1A) and Kayden Clarke (2G,1A) led the way offensively for Okanagan Hockey Academy, and Landon Garbitt picked up his first win of the season, making 28 saves. Ryan Zhang (1G,1A) factored in both of BWC Academy’s goals in the loss, and has now scored a goal in three-straight games.

Okanagan Hockey Academy Black (5 OT) at St. George’s U17 Prep (6) 

The powerplay was effective for St.George’s, capitalizing three times with the man-advantage on goals from Connor Pankratz, and two from Brady Miller (2G). OHA Black converted two times on the powerplay, scoring goals from Connor Quam (1G,1A) and Cole Wadsworth (1G,1A). Overtime was needed to determine a winner and Nick Ershadi didn’t disappoint, scoring his third goal of the season at 4:20 of OT to secure the win for St. George’s.

Yale Hockey Academy (3) at Delta Hockey Academy (7) U17 Prep

Jordan Gavin continued his incredible start to the season, with a three-point performance (2G,1A), extending his point-streak to seven games. Gavin has scored 31 points (10G, 21A) in that stretch for Delta. Cayden Lindstrom (2G,1A), Gavin Garlan (2G,1A) and Miguel Garland (1G,2A) all had multi-point efforts in the Delta win.

OHA Edmonton (1) at Northern Alberta Xtreme (4) U15 

Jake McDonald put OHA Edmonton on the board early, scoring just 23-seconds into the game. The score would stay 1-0 until the second period, when James Powell went to work, scoring twice in the period, with his second goal coming on the powerplay to give NAX the lead. Eric Ripka and Jordan Duguay added insurance markers in the third to seal the win for NAX. Parker Snell stopped 17 of 18 shots to pick up his second win of the season.

Edge School (5) at OHA Edmonton (3) U16 Prep

It was a close contest in this one, with OHA Edmonton scoring first (18:44) on a goal from Spencer Brazel. Edge answered back just 37-seconds later, as Luke Lawford netted his second goal of the season to tie the game 1-1. The back-and-forth action continued until the third period, when Ty Gordon was awarded a penalty shot and scored, just 58-seconds into the period. Bowen Grycan added the late insurance goal into an empty net, as Edge pulled out the win.

West Van Academy (7) at St. George’s (1) U15

Rhett Cotton opened the scoring for St. George’s at 5:50 of the first period, however, West Van Academy took over from there. First, Otto Spofforth scored shorthanded to tie the game (15:30) and Logan Barnes (1G,1A) scored the go-ahead goal (17:16) before the period ended. Suhaan Nagra (2G,1A) scored twice, as did Marko Udovicic (2G), while West Van Academy fired 50 shots on goal in the win.
