GAME DAY RECAP: November 4, 2024

Notre Dame (4) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (5) U15

Jason Thomson (1G, 1A) put Pacific Coast (4-8-0) ahead just 3:31 into the hockey game. In search of their first win of the season, Notre Dame (0-8-1) scored three straight with Jax Baumuller (3G) scoring twice in the first and Ryder Fiddler (1G, 1A) adding his fifth of the season 35 seconds into the second. Kaz Westcott brought PCHA within one late in the second but Baumuller doubled the advantage when he scored his hat-trick goal late in the second. However, Pacific Coast would mount a comeback in the final 10 minutes as Carter Campbell, Tommy Nemeth and Jacob Gillie all found the back of the net to give their team the come from behind victory. 

Prairie Hockey Academy (2) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (4) U15

Owen Magness (1G, 1A) and Hudson Wicharuk scored less than five minutes apart in the first as OHA led 2-0 after 20. This lead would hold through a scoreless second until Cruz Rasmussen added a power play tally 1:03 into the third to increase the deficit. Addison Wanner and Tristan Reimer scored early in the third for Prairie as they broke through and brought themselves within one with more than 10 minutes remaining. But Landon Ruck would double the lead just 2:07 later and Deakon Beaudry (17/19) finished with 17 saves as OHA defeated Prairie 4-2. Patrick Curtis (44/48) faced 48 shots in the loss. 

Rink Hockey Academy Winnipeg (9) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (7) U15

A high scoring affair started just 10 seconds in when Dexter Labrecque scored his fourth goal of the season. RHA Kelowna would lead 2-0 after 20 as Harrison Sharman (2G, 1A) added his eighth of the year midway through the frame. Reed Witham (2G) and Sharman scored power play goals 11 seconds apart 32 seconds into the second, and Witham scored again 4:02 later as RHA Kelowna took a commanding 5-0 lead. The tide would start to change as Josh Harvey got RHA Winnipeg on the board 46 seconds later and Beck Van Kemenade (1G, 2A) added another 17 seconds after that. Cooper deWal (1G, 1A) briefly halted the run but RHA Winnipeg closed out the second with goals from Nash Dolyny, Aiden Christie (1G, 1A) and Shea Streu. Down one after 40, Bo Sabourin scored shorthanded 3:54 into the third to tie the game and Declan McNicol gave RHA Winnipeg their first lead less than two minutes later. A power play goal from Luke Turner levelled the score but Kelson Hawreluik (1G, 3A) and Josh Harvey (2G, 2A) scored in the final five minutes as RHA Winnipeg overcame a 5-0 deficit to win 9-7 in one of the crazier games of the 2024/25 season. 

OHA Edmonton (2) vs Yale Hockey Academy (6) U15

Yale (13-0-0) remains undefeated after the first showcase weekend of the year with a 6-2 win over OHA Edmonton (1-9-2). Connor Baines (2G, 1A) opened the scoring with the lone first period goal. Carter Di Stefano (1G, 2A) and Lane Huscroft traded goals in the second as the score remained close heading into the final 20. But Yale would take over in the third as Ryker Stevens (3G) scored a natural hat-trick and Baines added a power play goal 10 seconds later as the game began to open up. Eli Swift would reply for OHA Edmonton 21 seconds after the Baines power play goal but that was as close as they would get in what ended as a 6-2 Yale win. Fresh off being named the U15 Player of the Month, Lucca Tassone (39/41) made 39 saves in net for the win. 

Northern Alberta Xtreme (5) vs Delta Hockey Academy White (1) U15

NAX scored five straight goals to start the game with Jared Ryan scoring in the first, Gavin Van Brabant (1G, 2A), Easton Mattersdorfer and Mohamed Garcia (2G) tallying in the second, and Garcia scoring again in the third. Colby Walker brought the Zayden Maclean (26/27) shutout bid and NAX run with 6:44 remaining. Cohen Wood (34/39) made 34 saves in the loss. 

STAR Hockey Academy (1) vs Delta Hockey Academy Black (7) U15

An early penalty to Delta Black put them down a man just 35 seconds in but Cash Field (2G, 1A) scored shorthanded to give his team the 1-0 lead. Seve Paladino tied the game 4:43 into the second with his eighth of the season before Delta Black rattled off six unanswered to claim the commanding 7-1 win. Woojin Seo (2G), Silas Colina (1G, 2A) and Field scored in the second with Jesse Parmar (1G, 2A), Jack Delaney (1G, 1A) and Seo finding the back of the net in the third as Delta Black fired 35 shots at Cameron Rusyniak (28/35). Luc Wilson-Kurenoff (24/25) made 24 saves in the win. 

Edge School (8) vs St. George’s School (0) U15

Edge outshot St. George’s 70-21 en route to an 8-0 win Sunday. Luke Bodtker (3G, 3A) recorded a hat-trick and led all skaters with six points. Cade Mazurski (5A) and Brody Antignani (2G, 2A) had five and four point games in the win while Caden Stanley (21/21) stopped 21 saves for the shutout. Hudson Waddell (62/70) was in net for St. George’s. 

Calgary International Hockey Academy (5) vs BWC Academy (1) U15

A power play goal from Aiden Brown 2:20 into the game gave CIHA the early 1-0 lead. Jase Morey (1G, 1A) would add another goal 10 minutes later and Loic Lebel (1G, 1A) scored the lone second period marker to increase the deficit. In the third, Eric Sexton added another power play goal and Liam Nycholat hit double digits with his 10th of the season. Quinn Collins scored his first of the year with 9:27 remaining to get BWC Academy on the board and end the Alexandre Montembeault (37/38) shutout bid.
