GAME DAY RECAP: November 3, 2023

OHA Edmonton (0) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (13) U15

NAX improved to 9-0-0 with a 13-0 win against OHA Edmonton. Easton Arndt (2G, 2A), Kaysun Brunham (2G, 2A), Ahmad Fayad (2G, 2A), Bronsyn Mouille (2G, 3A), and Brady Ondrus (2G, 1A) all had two goals in the victory. 

Notre Dame (3) vs OHA Edmonton (4) U18 Prep

Clarke Schaefer opened the scoring with the lone first period goal. Sokratis Markarian (1G, 1A) and Fran Romano would score 25 seconds apart as Notre Dame took an early second period lead. But Nolan Schmidt, Kayden Lemire, and Spencer Brazal would all respond for OHA Edmonton as they led heading into the third. Liam Schaentzler (1G, 1A) would bring Notre Dame within one with 1:06 left but Corbin Sanderman (23/26) would hold steady to close out a 4-3 win. 

Prairie Hockey Academy (0) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (11) U15 Prep

Aidan Poulin (3G, 2A) tallied a team high 5 points as NAX beat Prairie 11-0. Jaggar John (1G, 3A), Asher Halliday (1G, 2A), Aiden Wagner (1G, 2A) and Kayne Wright (1G, 2A) all had a goal and multiple assists in the win. Cam Hoose (12/12) made 12 saves for the shutout. Brady Robert (90/101) faced a whopping 101 shots in net for Prairie. 

Okanagan Hockey Academy Black (0) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (2) Female U18 Prep

Jaya Schippel (13/13) stopped all 13 shots she faced and Sofie Thompson scored the eventual game winner, shorthanded, with 9:11 remaining in the game. Sara Gerdel (1G, 1A) added an empty netter with 19 seconds left to secure the victory. Korie McGill (2A) assisted on both goals. Mya Lesage (46/47) stopped 46 shots in the loss. 

RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (2) vs Edge School (8) U15 Prep

Jordin St. Louis (2G) scored 1:11 in as part of a 4 goal first period for Edge School. St. Louis and Brock England would add second period tallies before Jake Ritson broke the Leif Oaten (32/34) shutout 1:32 into the third. Ben Oliverio (2G) and James Matheos would score for Edge in the third while Max George countered for RHA Winnipeg. 

RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (5) vs Yale Hockey Academy (4) U15

Elias Papadatos, Dylan Khakh, and Christopher Kokkoris scored first period goals as Yale led 3-0 after 20. Zane Horn and Aiden Andrews would bring RHA Kelowna within one heading into the third. Alexander Sharman (2G, 2A) would score 11 seconds into the third and again 1:59 later to give RHA Kelowna their first lead. Kaius Millan would extend the lead with a power play marker. Michael Kuzik (1G, 1A) would bring Yale within one with 40 seconds remaining but RHA Kelowna would hold on for their first win of the season. 

BWC Academy (3) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (5) U15 Prep

Jayden Simpson (1G, 1A) and Ryan Fox scored first period goals while Cohen Baker added a power play goal in the second as BWC Academy held a commanding 3-0 lead 35 minutes into the game. But Griffin Hoy would get OHA on the board late in the second and Trey Tourigny (1G, 1A) would bring them within one before Tristan Hoko (2G) scored twice and Carson Smith (1G, 1A) added another in the final 2:30 of play as OHA completed the comeback in dramatic fashion. 

OHA Edmonton (2) vs Notre Dame (1) U15 Prep

After a scoreless first Zachary Schwartz would score his third of the season exactly halfway through the second period. The lead was short lived as Ethan Fitzpatrick scored the tying goal just 20 seconds later. Jihwan Kim scored the go ahead goal with 2 seconds remaining in the second and Daniel Marsden (30/31) kept a clean sheet in the third to secure an OHA Edmonton victory. Kurtis Stajkowski (57/59) made 57 saves in the loss. 

Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy Navy (2) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy Black (9) U17 Prep

OHA Black outshot CDA Navy 58-19 en route to a 9-2 win Friday. Ethan Dimand (3A) and Alex Garagan (1G, 2A) each had three points while Brayden Tremblay (2G) scored twice in the win. Artem Gunko (1G, 1A) and Siwoo Lee scored for CDA Navy in the loss. Kaleb Miller (17/19) and Mark Michelson (49/58) were in net for their respective teams. 

Yale Hockey Academy (3) vs BWC Academy (6) U18 Prep

After a 5-0-0 start Yale suffered their first loss of the season with a 6-3 defeat to BWC Academy. William Paterson (1G, 1A) scored 35 seconds into the second while Lucas Jakubec and Ryan Harris (2G) added goals shortly after to give BWC Academy a quick 3-0 lead. Hunter Aura (1G, 1A) and Jonathan Lee would trade goals to close out the period. Tommy Lafreniere would strike early in the third for Yale, with Harris responding for BWC Academy. Kainoah Brankovic would find the back of the net just 41 seconds later for Yale but a Christian Revel (1G, 1A) goal halted any comeback attempts.
