King’s Edgehill School (3) vs Ontario Hockey Academy Mavericks (6) East U18 Prep
The beginning of Sunday’s game between King’s Edgehill School and the Ontario Hockey Academy Mavericks started slanted in the Mavericks’ direction. The OHA Mavericks opened up a massive lead, running out to a 5-0 advantage barely halfway through the second period. Manuel Beaudoin led the way with a hat-trick, scoring three of the first four goals in the game, but after the Mavericks had opened up the five-goal lead, KES began to fight back. Kasper Kossila (1G, 1A) scored shorthanded, and KES scored two more to follow that in the third period, but they couldn’t get closer than a two-goal deficit. The Ontario Hockey Academy Mavericks won 6-3 by the time the game wound down.
Calgary International Hockey Academy (2) vs Prairie Hockey Academy (4) U18 Prep
The Calgary International Hockey Academy outplayed Prairie Hockey Academy in at least the final forty minutes of the game. However, Prairie played an extremely strong first period and did enough damage in the first twenty minutes to maintain the lead throughout. Brady Keith (1G, 1A) scored twenty seconds into the hockey game, and Seamus Dillon (1G, 1A) scored the eventual game-winner after just six minutes of the first period. Drake Mooney stopped 35 of 37 in all, including 22 on 23 shots in the final forty minutes of play.
South Alberta Hockey Academy (12) vs Notre Dame Hounds (0) U18 Prep
Seven losses in the first eight Notre Dame Hounds games in the U18 Prep season didn’t inspire too much confidence as they took on the Southern Alberta Hockey Academy this weekend. SAHA scored four goals apiece in each of the three periods, led by four-point performances from Kingston Chisholm (3G, 1A), Ryker Klassen (1G, 3A), and Damen Vanderberg (1G, 3A). The loss leaves Notre Dame further searching for their second win, while SAHA picked up their second victory of the weekend over Notre Dame, bouncing back from their loss to Prairie Hockey Academy.
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (2) vs STAR Hockey Academy (3) U17
The score of Saturday’s game between RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna and STAR Hockey Academy was only 4-2, but RHAK outshot STAR 62-28 in the contest, controlling the bulk of the game even if STAR stuck around. On Sunday, RHAK yet again had their control of the game established, leading 2-1 after two periods that saw them outshoot STAR by a combined 32-13 margin in those first forty minutes. STAR Hockey Academy pushed back come the third, and their efforts were aided early, with Eli Solberg scoring on the powerplay to tie the game at two early on, before another man advantage not long after presented STAR the chance to take the lead. Camden Freeman’s goal stood as the game-winner, and Ry Jeffries made 42 saves on 44 shots for the victory.
OHA Edmonton (3/SO) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy (2) Female U18 Prep
Sunday’s game between OHA Edmonton and the South Alberta Hockey Academy in the Female U18 Prep division saw a duplicate result to the two teams’ matchups one day prior, to the joy of one team and the chagrin of the other. OHA Edmonton led 3-1 through two, and a late SAHA goal made it 3-2 on Saturday, but on Sunday, it looked like anyone’s game through two periods. Forty minutes came and went with both teams deadlocked a two goals apiece, but for OHA Edmonton, it took less than 100 seconds of the third-period for them to find a goal through Jocelyn Bodnar (1G, 1A), her third pf the season and the tiebreaking goal that stood as the game-winner with OHAE prevailing 3-2 over SAHA for the second consecutive game.
North Shore Warriors (3) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy (4) U15 Prep
The North Shore Warriors’ U15 Prep team by no means played a bad game on Sunday against the Southern Alberta Hockey Academy, but SAHA’s stretch of six minutes of the second period ostensibly won them the game. Will Thompson had a shorthanded goal for North Shore in the first period, but in the second, SAHA picked up goals from Carter Jarvis, Nash Davis (1G, 1A), Rowan Oddie, and Nelson Sonna Soufo, and while North Shore continued to fight back hard, it wouldn’t be enough. Cole Anderson in the SAHA crease made 29 stops on 32 shots in all to preserve SAHA’s win streak.
Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (3) vs Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (4/SO) U18 Prep
At different points in Sunday’s game, both the Pacific Coast Hockey Academy and Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy looked like they had victory in their hands. The two teams went into the third period deadlocked at a goal apiece, and in the third, the game began to twist every which way. Easton Margettie scored on the power play to give CDA a lead, one they’d hold to until there were less than eight minutes on the clock in the third. In less than a two minute span, PCHA struck back with two more, and going into the last two minutes with a lead, it looked like they’d take a result out of CDA. Tate Serfas (1G, 1A) scored with 69 seconds to go in the third to tie the game up, and after a scoreless overtime, Ewen Willers scored the game-winner in the shootout for CDA to give them a dramatic 4-3 win.
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (5) vs Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy (4) U17 Prep
The U17 Prep game on Sunday between RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna and the Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy was another that saw the win probability swing in both directions as the game went on; RHA Kelowna had a 2-0 that was alleviated by Keagan Nussbaum alone, with his two goals tying the game, before the two teams would trade goals 22 seconds apart, keeping the game squared up despite the further twists. Wenatchee’s Mason Richardson scored on the power play late in the second period to give Wenatchee a lead, but down by one, RHA Kelowna hit the ice motivated to come back and earn a result Aiden Andrews scored 21 seconds into the third to tie the game again and Mason Poitras (2G) scored the eventual game-winner with less than eight minutes to play in the third, giving RHAK a come-from-behind 5-4 win.
Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (1) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (5) U17
An Okanagan Hockey Academy winning streak wasn’t one they’d want to let slip away on Sunday; five straight wins included a win over Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy on Saturday night, meaning a second consecutive victory on Sunday shouldn’t have been out of the question. Much like yesterday, Nathan Marques popped up early, scoring his fourteenth goal of the season to break the ice, which only proved to be a jumping-off point for OHA. Chris Pellatt ended up with two goals, and while CDA didn’t have nearly as much offensive pressure as OHA, they still gave Holden Tamm a handful, with the OHA goaltender stopping 23 saves on 24 shots.
St. George’s School (3) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (4) U15
Sunday’s game between St. George’s School and the Pacific Coast Hockey Academy’s U15 squads would have struggled to reach the levels of offensive output that Saturday’s head-to-head matchup saw. The first of back-to-back games between those two teams ended in an 11-6 scoreline favouring PCHA, and while Sunday’s St. George’s performance was a stark upgrade to the eleven goals they conceded on Saturday, they still couldn’t do enough
Delta Hockey Academy (5) vs Shawnigan Lake School (2) U17 Prep
After ending off October on the high note of back-to-back victories, Shawnigan Lake School’s U17 Prep side had a tall task in pulling out similar results in the back-to-back against the Delta Hockey Academy. Delta prevailed 5-1 on Saturday, but looked to be in a different situation on Sunday, thanks to Matthew Morris’ go-ahead goal early in the first for Shawnigan. As hard as SLS fought to hold on to that lead, Delta’s consistent pressure prevailed, with Brady Cyr (1G, 1A), Cash Field (1G, 1A), and Brady Oatman (1G, 1A) all popping in with a second-period goal to extend Delta’s lead to 4-1 in the second. Delta didn’t need to extend the lead further come the third period, but in spite of the cushion they had, they still controlled the game, outshooting SLS 15-4 in the third period to eventually win 5-2.
Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (3) vs BWC Academy (4) U17
BWC Academy went behind first on Sunday morning against the Pacific Coast Hockey Academy in the U17 division, with Kingston Fisher’s power-play goal giving the Sea Devils an early lead. However, BWC’s big guns would respond with a pair of powerplay goals of their own, with Eric Prexler’s pair of goals assisted by all three of Kaz Westcott, Max Joseph, and Easton Coupland to send BWC en route to what would end up a 4-1 lead. That three-goal cushion was held by BWC until the last five minutes of the third, when PCHA popped up to mount a comeback push. Jackson Squire scored twice for PCHA to pull the game back within one, but PCHA would run out of time before they could hit back with an equalizer.
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (3) vs St. George’s School (4) U15 Prep
The U15 Prep matchup between RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg and St. George’s School on Sunday was one RHA Winnipeg will feel they let slip. At three different points, RHA Winnipeg had gone behind by a goal and tied the game; Easton Pitz himself scored two tying goals in the third period, and down the stretch, the game looked destined for a dramatic finish. An unfortunate moment for RHAW, with just over two minutes to play in the third, not only sent St. George’s to a late power play, but the penalty being a five-minute major gave St. George’s an extended opportunity. If they couldn’t get it done at the end of the third, they’d have an opportunity to get it done in overtime. They wouldn’t need overtime, though, as with 43 seconds to go, Nick Hill (1G, 1A) scored his ninth goal of the young season to secure St. George’s a win.
Okanagan Hockey Academy (5) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (2) U15 Prep
Okanagan Hockey Academy’s U15 Prep squad looked like a team determined to snap their five-game losing streak when they hit the ice against PCHA, but despite their domination of the first period, it was Pacific Coast Hockey Academy to hit the front. Jason Thomson struck on the power play to give PCHA the lead heading into the second period, in spite of OHA’s 14-6 shots on goal margin. James McRae (27/32) stopped all 14 shots he faced for PCHA in the first, but through no fault of his own, OHA finally broke through in the second period. Lux Naka tied the game at one on the power play in the second period before OHA would go on a run of four consecutive five-on-five goals, two of which were from Cohen Short, to give OHA a big lead. The victory was OHA’s first since October 19, a run they’d be relieved to be free of.
Notre Dame Hounds (0) vs Calgary International Hockey Academy (7) U15
You have to feel for the goaltenders who have had to face Calgary International Hockey Academy’s U15 squad this season. Their 4-3 loss to the Prairie Hockey Academy early in October was the only game so far this season they failed to score five or more goals in a game, and after Saturday’s 10-2 win over Notre Dame, Sunday promised another chance for CIHA to fill the net in a win. Lucas Beaudin scored twice, and three assists from Gavin Worobey led CIHA’s way to an eventual 7-0 win, now CIHA’s seventh win in a row.
St. George’s School (2) vs STAR Hockey Academy (5) U17 Prep
St. George’s School and STAR Hockey Academy’s U17 Prep squads played two thrillers before Sunday, the first won by STAR Hockey Academy in overtime, and the second by St. George’s School in a shootout. In the deciding game three, STAR Hockey Academy got a few big performances, and their first three goals of the game led them to victory. After going behind early, Hunter Hoggan scored two and Zakhar Kovalenko picked up a goal and an assist in less than a ten-minute span of hockey that saw STAR turn the deficit around into a 3-1 lead. STAR went on to score two more for a 5-2 win, with Erik Sims making 27 stops on 29 shots.
Selwyn House School (3) vs CIH Academy (0) East U17 Prep
Selwyn House School sandwiched a win between two losses in the month of October, and CIH Academy came in still in search of their first win of the season. CIH’s goaltender Shahrukh Levac made 48 saves on 51 shots in the game, keeping things close for CIH, but the 51-12 shots on goal margin for Selwyn really didn’t give CIH much of a chance. Aadi Patel, John Chatzis, and Jackson Pitfield scored goals for Selwyn in their 3-0 victory.
Ontario Hockey Academy (0) vs Stanstead College (7) East U17 Prep
Stanstead College’s weekend started with a massive win over Mount Academy, and come Sunday’s clash with Ontario Hockey Academy, it looked like a team incredibly keen on keeping that goal-scoring streak alive. Stanstead completely controlled the first period, outshooting OHA 12-2, and building the foundation on which they’d need to eventually prevail. Three points apiece from Vincent Chevrier (2G, 1A), Sean Dwyer (1G, 2A), and Shane-Alexandre Dubé (1G, 2A) let Stanstead’s way, and while Jaxon Ford was the less busy of the two goaltenders, he still made 16 stops to earn his shutout.
Okanagan Hockey Academy (5/SO) vs Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (4) U15
The first two periods of the Okanagan Hockey Academy and Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy’s U15 clash didn’t seem like the game was trending towards too much excitement. OHA led 2-1, and the two teams combined for only three penalties in the first forty minutes. The game blew wide open after the conclusion of the second intermission; TJ Podollan popped in with two goals and an assist, now bringing his season totals to 15 goals and 27 assists in just 13 games. OHA responded in turn in the third period, fighting back enough to push the game to a shootout. Come the shootout, Kristian Bowen scored the first goal on the first shot, and from there, OHA goaltender Linden Hartford (45/49) was the hero, keeping out all three shots in the shootout to help his team to the shootout victory.
