Game Day Recap – March 9, 2023

There were 13 games played in the CSSHL on Thursday with the U15 Quarterfinals and U15 Prep wrapping up their seasons today. 

Delta Hockey Academy Black (0) vs RHA Kelowna (16) U15 Prep

Cage Smith (6A) led all skaters with six points while teammates Benjamin Bowtell (1G, 4A), Joe Iginla (3G, 2A), and Cruz Waltze (4G, 1A), recorded five as RHA Kelowna defeated Delta Black 16-0. All but one RHA Kelowna skater recorded a point and Calder Barry (11/11) and Steele Bass (4/4) combined for a 15 save shutout. 

BWC Academy (2) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (10) U15 Prep

Parker Snell (21/23) made 21 saves and 13 skaters recorded at least a single point as NAX defeated BWC Academy 10-2. Jordan Duguay (2G, 2A) and Nolan Stewart scored first period goals for NAX while Ty Bonkowski (1G, 1A) responded for BWC Academy. Kai Anderson would tie the game early in the second before NAX scored eight unanswered. Sawyer Dingman (2G,) Duguay, and Jacob Harkness (2G) each scored twice in the win. 

Shawnigan Lake School (2) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (8) U15 Prep

Liam Ruck (1G, 4A) and Markus Ruck (3G, 2A) each had five point games as OHA beat Shawnigan 8-2. Parker Parrish (21/23) made 21 saves in net and Keegan Bailey (1G, 2A), Maddox Bentley (2A), and Rhett Tubello (2A) all had two assists in the win. Nigel Alberts and Colten Roberts scored the Shawnigan goals.

St. George’s School (0) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (5) U15 Quarterfinal

Blake Wilejto and Jaggar John scored less than a minute apart and Kale Breton (1G, 1A) added his sixth of the playoffs as NAX led 3-0 after 20. Harry Mattern would score the lone second period goal and Reid Soper the lone third as NAX defeated St. George’s 5-0. 

OHA Edmonton (3) vs Edge School (4) U15 Prep

Kayden Lemire opened the scoring but it was Edge School who led 2-1 after 20 as Zach Olsen and Landon DuPont (2G) scored 52 seconds apart in the final minute of the period. Calum Giese would tie the game midway through the second before Cruz Pavao (1G, 3A) re-gave Edge the lead late in the second. Noah Kelly would score with 6:36 remaining to once again tie the game but a powerplay goal by DuPont with 3:27 remaining would give Edge the 4-3 win. 

South Alberta Hockey Academy (4) vs Edge School (3) Female U18 Prep

Kenzie Carson, Keira Grant (1G,1A), and Kendal Davidson (1G, 1A) scored three straight as SAHA led 3-0 midway through the game. Shannon Pearson (2G, 1A) would give Edge School life scoring just 44 seconds after the Davidson goal before scoring again early in the third. Brookly Deck (1G, 1A) would tie the game on the power play midway through the third but Kiyra Kletzel (1G, 1A) would score with 1:51 remaining to give SAHA the 4-3 victory. 

Delta Hockey Academy (3) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (7) U15 Quarterfinal

Okanagan Hockey Academy fired 62 shots on net against Delta Hockey Academy to help pick up the win. Maxx Parfitt had two goals and two assists for OHA, Trey Tourigny had a goal and two helpers, and Brody McLean added a goal and an assist. Luke Anderson had a three-point night for Delta Hockey Academy in the loss.

RHA Winnipeg (1) vs Yale Hockey Academy (11) U15 Prep

Jake Henderson had five assists in the game for Yale Hockey Academy, Ryker Swanson recorded a hat-trick, and Jonathan Bitonti scored twice and added an assist for YHA. The lone goal for RHA Winnipeg was scored by River Arnason, as Aiden Eskit made 29 saves to pick up the win between the pipes for Yale Hockey Academy.

Delta Hockey Academy Green (2) vs St. George’s School (4) U15 Prep

Harshaan Kaila had four points for St. George’s School, scoring twice and adding two assists, while Eli Barrett and Lucas Benn notched a goal and two assists to round it out. Eric Tu made 30 saves to register the win in net for the Saints.

Prairie Hockey Academy (2) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (9) U15 Prep Consolation Side

Jack Perrier scored four goals in the game for Pilot Mound Hockey Academy, Carson Carels scored a goal and added four assists, while Hank Thompson (2g, 2a) and Liam Chartrand (1g, 3) had four-point nights for PMHA. Zachary Rogers made 10 saves to register the win for the Buffaloes between the pipes.

Edge School (8) vs OHA Edmonton (7) U15 Quarterfinal

It was a barn burner between Edge School and OHA Edmonton, as OHAE scored five goals in the third period to make it close, but came up short in the end. Noah Stone scored twice for OHA Edmonton in the loss. On the other side, Mirco Dufour had a hat-trick and two assists for Edge School, Lynch Evans scored twice and Luke Jamieson added four assists. 

BWC Academy (2) vs Yale Hockey Academy (7) U15 Quarterfinal

Shaun Hildebrandt scored two goals and added an assist and Daniel Havard scored twice for Yale Hockey Academy. Matteo Di Stefano and Seth Castronuovo both had a goal and an assist each, while Carter Bylycia scored a solo tally to round it out for YHA. Bruce Zhong added a goal and an assist for BWC Academy in the loss. 

North Shore Warriors (1) vs Notre Dame (4) U15 Prep Consolation Side

Brodyn Pladson had a three-point effort for Notre Dame, scoring two goals and an assist, while Carter Hudyma notched a pair of tallies. The lone goal for the North Shore Warriors came off the stick of Christopher Mah in the losing effort. Ethan Suhr turned aside 43 of 44 shots he faced between the pipes to record the win for the Hounds.
