GAME DAY RECAP: March 21, 2026

Bishop’s College School (5/SO) vs Kuper Academy (4) East U17 Prep Championships Semi-Final

Bishop’s College stunned undefeated Kuper in a semifinal classic, a 5–4 shootout win that felt like a slow‑burn upset building in real time before erupting into one of the tournament’s most dramatic finishes. BCS came out fearless with Marc‑Antoine Larochelle (1G, 1A) striking first, Greyson Hnatiuk (2G) doubling the lead on the power play, and for a full period the No. 5 seed looked like the only team dictating pace. But Kuper, perfect in regulation all season, punched back with four straight goals across the second and early third: Thomas Issa (1G), Alexander Beck (1G), Alessio Servello (1G), and Luca De Pastena (1G) flipping the game and restoring the familiar script of the top seed taking over. Bishop’s refused to fold. Thomas Roy (1G) buried a power‑play lifeline, Hnatiuk tied it with under two minutes left, and overtime turned into a tense stalemate between two teams suddenly playing not to blink. In the shootout, Grady Cohen and Dominik Bickos delivered, while Dax Doiron who stood on his head the whole game, sealed a seismic upset and sending BCS to the championship game.

Ontario Hockey Academy (3) vs Lower Canada College (7) East U17 Prep Championships Semi-Final

Lower Canada College punched their ticket to the championship game with a 7–3 win over Ontario Hockey Academy, a semifinal that started as a runaway, briefly tightened, and then snapped right back into LCC’s control as their top line took over. LCC blitzed OHA with a four‑goal first period from Gianluca Gatto (1G, 2A), Harry Miller (1G, 2A), Mario Lapenna (1G, 1A), and David Fellen (2G) all finding the sheet as the No. 2 seed looked every bit like a team intent on ending things early. OHA refused to fold, though: Mykyta Staskevych (2G) dragged them back into it with a pair of goals less than a minute apart in the second, Kingston Dery added another, and suddenly the Mavericks had life. But LCC’s depth and structure re‑asserted themselves in the third through Alex Gervasi (1G) restoring the cushion before Fellen iced it late, while Alessandro Sforza (20/23) stayed composed behind a group that controlled pace for most of the night. OHA’s goaltending tandem absorbed 39 shots, but LCC’s early avalanche and late push proved decisive as they advanced with authority.

Ontario Hockey Academy (5) vs Bishop’s College School (6/OT) East U18 Prep Championships Semi-Final

Bishop’s College School survived a wild semifinal scare from Ontario Hockey Academy, outlasting the #6 seed 6–5 in overtime in a game that swung so violently it felt like the tournament’s script was being rewritten every five minutes. BCS looked in full control early with Kayden Robitaille (3G, 1A) scoring late in the first and again on a second‑period power play, but OHA kept refusing to go away, answering through Nathaniel Noah (1G, 1A) and then detonating in the third with four goals, including a stunning late push powered by Jordan King (2G) and Mathis‑Cael Aurelius (1G). Each time OHA clawed back, BCS countered: Luca Stasi (1G, 2A) at 3:30, Zach Jockers (1G) at 7:44, and then Robitaille completing his hat trick with just four seconds left on a power‑play dagger that forced overtime. The extra frame barely lasted a shift because Taitt Dobbin (1G, 1A) buried the winner at 0:46 off a clean feed from Bastien Michaud, finally ending a semifinal that turned into a full‑on track meet. BCS stays undefeated and moves on, but OHA leaves having pushed the top seed to the brink in one of the tournament’s most chaotic, unforgettable games.

Stanstead College (3) vs Bourget College (4) East U18 Prep Championships Semi-Final

Bourget punched their ticket to the championship game with a composed, quietly ruthless 4–3 win over Stanstead. A semi-final that flipped hard after Stanstead’s fast start but ultimately settled into the kind of disciplined, opportunistic performance you expect from a #2 seed. Stanstead came out flying, grabbing a 2–0 lead in the first through Alexis Lavoie (1G) and Juuso Mustonen (1G), but the second period belonged entirely to Bourget: Maxémile Richard (1G) struck just 19 seconds in, and Elie Robert (2G) took over from there, scoring twice to turn the game on its head. Tanner Hayden (1G) briefly pulled Stanstead level early in the third, but Bourget’s structure never cracked, and Antoine Grenier (1G) delivered the dagger at 17:42 on the power play, capping a comeback built on patience and timely finishing. Jakob Cyr (17/20) held firm behind a Bourget team that tightened every screw after the first, while Renaud Auger‑Mongrain (18/22) battled to keep Stanstead alive despite the momentum swing. In the end, Bourget’s second‑period surge and late execution were the difference, sending them through to the final with the confidence of a team peaking at exactly the right moment.

Notre Dame Hounds (3/OT) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (2) U17 Prep Division II Western Championships Semi-Final

After a scoreless and eventless first period Lukas Lundgren (1G, 1A) opened the scoring for Notre Dame with 5:05 left in the second. Joe Wakabayashi would double the lead late in the period, taking advantage of a Pilot Mound turnover and beating Yuki Kido (24/27) with a backhand move on the breakaway. However, Pilot Mound would continue to apply pressure, resulting in Tucker Derkach and Maddox Ramage scoring 17 seconds apart in the last minute of the game to force overtime. Notre Dame ultimately avoided the collapse as a Levi Lillejord shot from the slot found the back of the net, high blocker side, to send the Hounds to the Div II final. Caden Smith (50/52) made 50 saves to backstop Notre Dame to the win.

Shawnigan Lake School (4/OT) vs St. George’s School (3) U17 Prep Division II Western Championships Semi-Final

Holden Tuttle (2G, 1A) would score on the power play 4:04 into the game as St. George’s took a 1-0 lead. Tuttle would score again 5:34 into the second to double the lead before Darwin Ketch (2G) and Spencer Currie scored back-to-back goals 2:06 apart to tie the game. St. George’s would lead after 40 as Alex Rode scored another power play goal 1:12 later. It would look like that would hold up as the eventual game winner, but Ketch would score on the power play with less than two minutes to play to even the score and force extra time. In OT, a great individual effort by Cache Thomas would lead to him beating Joffrey Chan (43/47) with a move to the backhand to secure the Shawnigan 4-3 victory.

RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (6) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (2) U17 Prep Western Championships Semi-Final

Saskatoon Blades prospect Alexander Sharman (2G, 2A) scored just 27 seconds in before doubling the RHA Kelowna lead late in the period with his third of the playoffs. Griffin Hoy extended the lead 6:30 into the second as RHA Kelowna looked set to run away with the game. Affiliate player Cole Schellenberg would get OHA on the board late in the period to stop the bleeding before Cooper Giarraputo made it a one goal game 3:18 into the third. OHA would continue to push but Kaius Millan (2G, 2A) put the game to bed with 4:54 remaining, taking a Sharman feed and going back hand shelf on the breakaway. Millan then added an empty netter with 2:21 left to play, putting the game well out of reach. Charlie Schmitt would add a goal with nine seconds left, stripping an OHA defender and beating an unexpecting Tyson Kuiack (21/26). Matthew Palmer (30/32) made 30 saves in net for the win.

RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (3) vs Calgary International Hockey Academy (4) U17 Prep Western Championships Semi-Final

In the final game of the day CIHA would erase a 3-1 deficit to grab a 4-3 win and a spot in the U17 Prep Western Championship Finals against the defending champs, RHA Kelowna. CIHA led 1-0 after 20 as Sutton Hodgetts scored the lone first period goal but Cole Ewonchuk and Atley Feniuk (1G, 1A) countered for RHA Winnipeg in the second. Murphy Johnston doubled the RHA Winnipeg advantage 2:45 into the third as he scored his first of the playoffs. However, the tide began to chance less than two minutes later as Tomas Figura (1G, 1A) made it a one goal game with his third. Keegan Brown would even the score 3:14 later and Rylan Wood (1G, 1A) completed the comeback with a power play goal with 7:22 remaining. Colton Lutz (33/36) and Miller Fettes (28/32) were in net for their respective teams.
