GAME DAY RECAP: March 10, 2023

RHA Winnipeg (5) vs Shawnigan Lake School (2) U15 Prep

Zach Lansard had a three-point game, with two goals and an assist, Tyler Wamboldt and Josh Shaganya had a goal and an assist each, while Kyler Zulyniak scored a solo tally to round it out for RINK Academy Winnipeg. 

Edge School (3) vs Yale Hockey Academy (6) U15 Semi Final

Gavin Bradley and Seth Castronuovo both scored two goals in the game for Yale Hockey Academy, Maxx Trites notched a goal and an assist, and Rocko Stordy added a solo tally. Aiden Lazazzera turned aside 34 shots he faced to pick up the win between the pipes for YHA, while Mirco Dufour scored his sixth goal of the postseason for Edge School in the loss. 

BWC Academy (6) vs Delta Hockey Academy Black (5) U15 Prep

Noah Frick scored a pair of goals for BWC Academy, while Otto Spofforth lit the lamp twice for Delta Hockey Academy Black. With the game tied 5-5 in the final minute of the third period, Gianni Bosa scored the game-winner with less than a minute remaining in regulation to win it for BWC Academy.

Okanagan Hockey Academy (3) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (5) U15 Semi Final

Brody McLean, Ethan Dimand and Ryan Bengert scored for Okanagan Hockey Academy, while Memphis Adeniken, Jackson Tetrault and Jaggar John scored for Northern Alberta Xtreme, as the game was tied after 40 minutes. In the third period, Kale Breton scored the go-ahead goal on the powerplay, while added his second tally of the game for NAX.

Edge School (6) vs Yale Hockey Academy U15 (1) Prep Quarterfinal

Owen Cooper (1G, 2A) scored 1:47 in and Cruz Pavao (2G, 2A) scored with 52 seconds left in the first as Edge led 2-0 after 20. Brendan Rudolph (1G, 2A) would extend the lead 20 seconds into the second, Zach Olsen would score midway through the frame and Pavao would add another as Edge grabbed a 5-0 lead. Kaeden Kalkat would get Yale on the board late in the second but a Ryan Boyce third period goal put the game out of reach. Cole Prelusky (22/23) made 22 saves in the win. 

Prairie Hockey Academy (2) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (12) U15 Prep

Declan Andrews (2G, 1A), Madden Cruickshank (2G, 1A), Elliott Hill (2G, 2A), and Roman Lavery (2G, 2A) all scored twice as PCHA defeated Prairie 12-2. Drew Stinka (1G, 4A) led all skaters with five points and Joshua Nuttall (21/23) made 21 saves in the win. Kane Domres and Cohen Hayes (1G, 1A) scored for Prairie in the loss. 

Delta Hockey Academy Green (2) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (7) U15 Prep Quarterfinal

NAX scored three goals on the power play and outshot Delta Green 36-22 as they earned a 7-2 win. Nolan Stewart (2G, 2A) led all skaters with four points and Nathan Guenther (3A) chipped in with three assists. Parker Snell (20/22) made 20 saves in the win. Nathaniel Danielson and Cooper Harrington scored the Delta Green goals in the loss. 

Notre Dame (5) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (11) U15 Prep

Jack Perrier (3G, 2A) recorded a hattrick and Carson Carels (5A) added five assists to lead PMHA to an 11-5 win over Notre Dame. Liam Chartrand (2G, 2A) would add four points and Cole Marlatt (20/25) made 20 saves to earn the win. Brodyn Pladson (2G) scored twice for Notre Dame and Jacob Carroll (2A) tallied two assists. 

OHA Edmonton (3) vs RHA Kelowna (7) U15 Prep Quarterfinal

Kiran Fedun scored 2:31 in for RHA Kelowna before Jake MacDonald responded for OHA Edmonton less than two minutes later. Cruz Waltze (2G, 1A), Brock Heidecker, and Theo Salikhov scored three unanswered for RHA Kelowna before Patrick Sopiarz halted the run late in the first. Calum Giese brought OHA Edmonton within one early in the second before Joe Iginla, Keaton Verhoeff (1G, 1A), and Waltze would respond for RHA Kelowna to give them a 7-3 win. 

St. George’s School (4) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (5/OT) U15 Prep Quarterfinal 

Liam Ruck (2G) gave OHA a first period lead and the game would remain that way until early in the second when Kadyn O’Brien extended the lead. After a potential save of the year candidate by Eric Tu, St. George’s would score four unanswered as Sam Auld (2G), Lucas Benn and Eli Barrett (1G, 1A) all found the back of the net. But Ruck would score with just under three minutes remaining to bring OHA within one and Mathis Preston (2G, 3A) would score with 25 seconds left to tie the game. In the extended overtime Preston was the hero for OHA with a bar down shot 5:50 in as OHA advanced to the semi finals.
