GAME DAY RECAP: January 11, 2026

RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (3/OT) vs STAR Hockey Academy (2) U17

What a comeback! RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg earned a 3–2 overtime win over STAR Hockey Academy on Sunday morning after a late effort and power-play heroics. The response was immediate, as Grayson Speirs (2G, 1A) took over late in regulation, scoring twice in a 2:29 span with goals at 17:19 and 19:48 to tie the game, finishing with a dominant night offensively. With momentum firmly on their side, RHA Winnipeg completed the comeback in overtime when Ebenezer Shaganya (1G, 2A) scored the game-winner on the power play, sealing the comeback victory. DJ Mecas (37/39) was steady in goal for Winnipeg with 37 saves, while Ry Jeffries (47/50) made 47 stops in a strong effort for STAR, but Speirs’ late surge and Shaganya’s overtime finish proved decisive.

Notre Dame set the tone early with goals from Liam Bird (1G) and Carter Rands (2G), answering a Coeur d’Alene power-play marker from Haruga Kondo (1G, 1A) to take a 2–1 lead after one. Rands struck again in the second to extend the advantage before Hudson Saltarella (1G) kept CDA within reach. The Hounds pulled away in the third as Kohl McDonald (1G) and Peter Forbes (1G) provided key insurance, while Devin Doyle (1G) sealed it with an empty-net goal late.

North Shore Warriors (5) vs Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy (3) U17 Prep

Wenatchee pushed back early in the third with goals from Soren Huvane (1G) and Lucas Osborne (1G) to briefly pull within one, but Vladimir King (1G, 1A) responded just 22 seconds later to restore the two-goal cushion, and Rex Norman (1G) sealed the game late.

Northern Alberta Xtreme (4) vs Edge School (3) U17 Prep

Northern Alberta Xtreme earned a hard-fought 4–3 road win over Edge School, snapping their losing skid against Edge after dropping the previous two meetings this season, including a one-goal loss the night before. Edge struck first on the power play through Malcolm McLeod (1G), but NAX answered late in the opening frame with Seth Kshyk (1G, 1A) tying the game. Special teams continued to shape the contest in the second as Barrett Fogolin (1G, 1A) converted on the power play for Northern Alberta Xtreme before Edge responded with power play and even-strength goals from Cade Mazurski (1G) and Luke McGuire (1G) to take a 3–2 lead. RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (6/OT) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy (5) U17 Prep

RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg earned a dramatic 6–5 overtime win over South Alberta Hockey Academy on Sunday, January 11, 2026, capping off a back-and-forth contest decided 3:22 into OT. RINK Winnipeg jumped out early with power-play goals from Conner Lamb (1G, 1A) and Colton Ross (3G), while Tyson Vandesype (1G) also found the back of the net as the teams traded chances in a physical first period. South Alberta stayed within reach thanks to goals from Nixon Bettenson (2G) and Cole Siewert (1G), sending the game into the second with RINK holding a narrow edge. The momentum swung multiple times in the third period, as Bettenson struck again early before RHA Winnipeg responded with goals from Ross and Brady Filmon (1G, 1A). Liam Green (1G, 1A) tied the game late for South Alberta to force overtime, but Ross completed his hat trick on the game-winner, assisted by Filmon. Drayden Champagne (3A) and Markus Knaub (4A) were key contributors for RINK Winnipeg.

OHA Edmonton (8) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (5) U15 Prep

OHA Edmonton came out flying and never truly looked back, striking for four first-period goals and pouring on the pressure to hand Northern Alberta Xtreme an 8–5 loss, led by Jaxson Weisgerber (2G), who set the tone early, while Steven Martyniuk (2G) also struck twice to keep the momentum firmly on Edmonton’s side. OHA’s depth showed throughout the night, with Steven Leavitt (1G), Nate Harrington (1G, 1A), Ian Kim (1G, 1A), and Kobe Pellack (1G, 2A) all contributing as the lead ballooned to 8–3 after two periods, including a shorthanded marker from Harrington (1G, 1A). Northern Alberta Xtreme pushed back late through Rylan Edwards (1G, 1A) and Jared Ryan (1G, 1A), while Jett Evans (1G, 1A) and Liam Bordt (1G, 1A) chipped in earlier, but Connor Phillips steadied the game with 26 saves as OHA’s pace and offensive balance proved too much to overcome.

Shawnigan Lake School (3) vs STAR Hockey Academy (10) U17 Prep

STAR Hockey Academy exploded offensively in a 10–3 rout of Shawnigan Lake School, with Blaise Weibye (1G, 2A) and Adam Neilson (2G, 2A) leading the charge and Dylan Gale (, 4A) setting up plays all over the ice. Colton Brum (1G, 3A) and Cam Hoggan (2G, 2A) added key contributions, while Braden Payne (2G) and Kyler Bush (1G) helped pile on the scoring. For Shawnigan, Bryce Todd (1G) and Spencer Currie (2G) found the back of the net, and Cache Thomas (2A) chipped in with assists, but the home team couldn’t keep pace against STAR’s relentless pressure and clinical finishing.

Bishop’s College School (1) vs Stanstead College (6) East U17 Prep

Stanstead College controlled the game from start to finish, skating to a convincing 6–1 win over Bishop’s College School on Sunday as their pressure and depth overwhelmed BCS early and often, with Vincent Chevrier (1G, 1A) opening the scoring and Kristian Tlstovic (2G) continuing his strong weekend with a pair of goals to build a 2–0 first-period lead. The second period belonged entirely to Stanstead, as Nicholas Alicea (1G, 1A) and Mathieu Généreux (1G, 1A) stretched the advantage before Cole Toms (1G,) briefly answered for Bishop’s, but Jack Adams (1G, 1A) capped the outburst late in the frame to put the game out of reach. As Stanstead closed out a dominant weekend series win with authority.

BWC Academy (5) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (3) U18 Prep

BWC Academy edged out Okanagan Hockey Academy 5–3 in a hard-fought contest, with Mark Lee (3G, 1A) leading the charge and Dominic Seminoff (1G, 2A) and Charlie Robinson (2A) controlling the play in the middle. Otto Spofforth (1G) and Kadyn O’Brien (1A) also contributed key points for BWC, while on the Okanagan side, Maxx Parfitt (2G) and Eli Tverdovsky (3A) generated offense, and Wade Gallamore (1G) got on the scoresheet. Josh Wu was solid in goal for BWC, stopping 23 of 26 shots, while Linden Sobocan faced 40 shots for Okanagan.

Shawnigan Lake School (0) vs St. George’s School (5) U15 Prep

St. George’s School overpowered Shawnigan Lake School 5–0. Breaking the deadlock early in the second period with Luca Rogers (1G) and Theo Wesik (1G, 1A) setting the tone. Nick Hill (1G) added a power-play strike before Enzo Drath (2G) sealed the victory with two late goals, showcasing St. George’s depth and relentless forechecking. Shawnigan Lake’s Bryce Roache (47/52) faced 52 shots and made 47 saves, keeping the deficit from ballooning further, but St. George’s relentless offense, proved too much to handle. Discipline and puck control allowed St. George’s to dominate possession, turning their scoring opportunities into a decisive road victory.

Edge School (4) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (2) U17

Edge School U17 rallied from an early deficit to beat Okanagan Hockey Academy 4–2 in a fast-paced showdown. Okanagan opened the scoring with Grayson Holmes (1G) on the power play, but Edge quickly responded as Brik McCord Cooper (1G, 2A) tied the game. Easton Armstrong (1G, 1A) gave Edge the lead in the second, and Kyden Bartole (1G, 2A) extended it in the third before Devin Kian Shape (1G) added an insurance goal. Cole Schellenberg (1G, 1A) and Nathan Marques (2A) kept Okanagan in striking distance, but strong goaltending from Chase Miles (38/40) and solid defensive support sealed the win.

Notre Dame Hounds (1) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (6) U18 Prep

RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg dominated Notre Dame Hounds 6–1 at home in a high-energy clash, jumping out to a quick lead with Maximilian Koppel (1G) and Sam Grunewald (2G) lighting the scoreboard in the first. RINK Winnipeg’s depth and crisp passing continued as Spencer Kuntz (1G, 1A) and Easton Pitz (1G, 1A) added insurance goals in the second, while Athens Shingoose (1G, 3A) orchestrated multiple scoring plays. Notre Dame’s lone response came from Bende Szongoth (1G), assisted by Mason Miller (1A) and Lewis Brown (1A), but strong goaltending from Ryler Gates (32/33) and relentless offense from RHA Winnipeg kept the Hounds at bay.

STAR Hockey Academy (0) vs BWC Academy (17) U15

BWC Academy U15 dominated from the opening faceoff, dismantling STAR Hockey Academy U15 in a 17–0 offensive onslaught. Owen Chapman was unstoppable, tallying six goals, while Alex Iaichkin (3G, 3A) and Mars Zhang (2G, 5A) showcased lethal chemistry, consistently finding seams in STAR’s defense. BWC’s precision passing and relentless pressure overwhelmed STAR’s Zachary Kolar, who faced a staggering 90 shots, while the visitors’ power play units made STAR’s penalty kill look helpless. Despite STAR’s best efforts to keep the game competitive, BWC’s depth, speed, and puck control left no room for a comeback, turning the contest into a masterclass of scoring efficiency and team dominance.

Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy (4) vs North Shore Warriors (14) U17

In a high-scoring clash, the North Shore Warriors overwhelmed Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy , 14–4. The Warriors struck early and often, with Liam Newby (4G, 2A) and Grayson Hunter (2G, 2A) leading the charge, while Arjun Gill (5A) orchestrated the play from the blue line with precision passing. Wenatchee’s Kailani Nichols (2G) and Micah Bottamini (1G, 1A) provided sparks for the Wild, but North Shore’s depth proved unstoppable, with contributions from Jaehe Shin, Matthew Mills, and Henry Lockhart ensuring a constant barrage on Aidan McKiernan in net. Wenatchee managed to keep the game competitive in flashes, yet North Shore’s dominant puck possession and clinical finishing turned the contest into a commanding showcase of their scoring depth.

North Shore Warriors (7) vs Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy (4) U18 Prep

An 8-0 loss in the first game of 2026 was far from an ideal start for the North Shore Warriors U18 Prep’s new calendar year, but in the following contest, they battled to the end for a 3-2 win in Wenatchee. Sunday marked the second of back-to-back between the two squads, one that presented North Shore the chance to leave their first loss well in the rearview mirror. An explosion of second-period offence in the first half of the middle frame blew the game wide open, and at multiple points, Wenatchee led and eventually snatched a North Shore lead away. Six goals in less than a seven-minute stretch saw North Shore escape the chaos with a 4-3 lead, and once they’d fully established that lead, they were able to see out the rest of the game. Landon Kelly’s (2G, 2A) four points ultimately led North Shore to victory.

South Alberta Hockey Academy (3) vs Edge School (1) U18 Prep

The second of back-to-back clashes between the South Alberta Hockey Academy and Edge School’s U18 Prep teams presented Edge with the opportunity to avenge Saturday’s 5-3 loss. Sunday wasn’t an inferior Edge effort, but ultimately, Edge ran into another superb goaltender. Yesterday, Hunter Zawislak earned SAHA the win over Edge, and on Sunday, Cash Christie replicated his strong performance. Christie stopped 26 of 27 in Sunday’s game for SAHA, and with Christie’s play as a strong foundation, SAHA’s special teams won them the game. The South Alberta penalty kill successfully survived each of Edge School’s six power-play chances. Even more crucially, SAHA scored twice on the powerplay, in the first through Ty Hynes and in the third through Kutcher Aquila. Aquila’s third-period goal with less than five minutes to play was the difference, with a SAHA empty-netter capping off South Alberta’s 3-1 win.

STAR Hockey Academy (3) vs North Shore Warriors (7) U15 Prep

STAR Hockey Academy’s U15 Prep squad had just one more chance to earn its first win of the 2026 calendar year, with Saturday’s 5-1 loss at BWC’s hands a disappointing start to the new year. STAR’s visit to North Shore on Sunday pegged them against a Warriors team coming off an emphatic 9-1 win over PCHA on Friday. North Shore’s first seven and a half minutes on Sunday indicated a team keen on a similarly dominant win. Will Thompson (2G, 2A) and Quinn Herman (2G, 1A) each scored in the first period, and neither would be done there, combining for seven points in this game alone. North Shore led 3-0 within the first eight minutes en route to the 7-3 win.

Delta Hockey Academy White (2) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (1) U15

The Delta Hockey Academy White U15 team had an excellent start to their weekend, with Sunday the opportunity to complete a perfect three straight wins to start 2026. DHAW beat North Shore 7-2 on Friday and beat PCHA 5-1 on Saturday prior to Sunday’s second-straight clash with PCHA. In the same way DHAW did to PCHA on Saturday, Delta heavily outshot their opponent on Sunday. Unlike Saturday, though, PCHA goaltender Sawyer Elke (38/40) seemingly popped up in DHAW’s way whenever they had a chance to take the lead. Austin Murray and Mason Hostyn traded first-period goals, locking the game at 1-1 heading into the back half of the third period. Off an offensive zone draw with under five to play, Delta worked the puck to the left side for Sajan Chatha (1G, 1A) to wire one past Elke and in to give RHAW a 2-1 lead they’d hold until the end of the game.

Bishop’s College School (5) vs Stanstead College (2) East U18 Prep

Stanstead bested Bishop’s College School 7-5 on Saturday in a thrilling back-and-forth clash, the first of two straight games between the two teams. BCS’ Tyler Fuicelli (24/26) came into Saturday’s game in relief, but played an incredible game from start to finish. Two goals from Luca Stasi, one at the end of the first and one at the start of the second, sent Bishop’s en route to victory, as once they took the two-goal lead, Stanstead couldn’t catch back up. Fuicelli’s saves and Stasi’s goals stood as the difference in Bishop’s 5-2 win.

St. George’s School (0) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (5) U17 Prep

Two players stood out from the rest in Sunday’s U17 Prep clash between St. George’s School and Okanagan Hockey Academy, and ultimately, those two players made the game-deciding impact. Maddox Slater (19/19) won now his second consecutive game in the form of a 19-save shutout to continue a stellar season. In fact, Slater’s last game also yielded him a shutout win, but alongside him on Sunday, OHA’s defenceman Luke Edgehouse did all the damage his team needed to do offensively. Edgehouse scored the first two goals of the game in the second period before striking again less than two minutes into the third. Edgehouse would add an assist to his hat-trick to help extend OHA’s lead further, eventually ending in a 5-0 scoreline.

BWC Academy (2) vs Yale Hockey Academy (7) U15 Prep

Yale Hockey Academy enter 2026 looking to retain their status as the unstoppable team in the U15 Prep division, with their last (and only) loss coming back in October.  Top guns Parker McMillan (1G, 2A) and Teagan Dernisky (1G, 2A) remain miles above the rest in U15 Prep scoring this season, and for Yale on Sunday, nothing about their run of form changed. That pair didn’t do all the damage on their own, though, with their three-point performances matching those of Connor Baines (2G, 1A) and Tyson Wolanski (1G, 2A), with defenceman Jacson Bradbeer (5A) leading all skaters with five points. Yale posted six in the second period alone en route to a thumping 7-2 win.

OHA Edmonton (3) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (4/SO) U17

RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna’s weekend had the upswing of winning on Friday, countered by the disappointing loss at the hands of Prairie Hockey Academy on Saturday. With four losses in five games, RHAK’s Sunday clash with OHAE was crucial in swinging momentum back in their favour heading into the back half of January. RHAK led 2-1 through two, but come the third, OHAE’s top gun came out firing. Tucker Porter (2G) started January with a rare pair of goalless games, with Porter only failing to record a point in two straight games once this season. He’d return to the scoresheet in an emphatic manner, scoring in the third period to tie the game and eventually put OHAE into the lead. RHAK fought back from the third-period deficit, though, with Otis Jacques producing the equalizer. Jacques wasn’t done there, though, with him scoring the first of the shootout for RHAK. Griffin Prairie Chicken (38/41) stopped two of OHAE’s three, and Noam Colapinto’s goal helped RHAK over the finish line.

Northern Alberta Xtreme (5) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (3) U17

The Northern Alberta Xtreme’s last chance at picking up a victory on their opening weekend of 2026 was Sunday against PCHA, following Friday and Saturday losses. Despite NAX outplaying PCHA the majority of the game, PCHA held a 3-2 lead heading into the second half of the third period. Maximus Scheffer (2G) had a pair, with his Sea Devils squad holding the lead until a slashing penalty to Nathan Hodgins sent NAX to a crucial power play. Holter Lefthand scored on the powerplay and less than three minutes later, Kaiden Chartrand (2G, 1A) scored his second of the game. With NAX in the lead in the final three minutes, they’d hold on, eventually winning 5-3.

Calgary International Hockey Academy (5) vs Edge School (1) U15

Prior to Sunday’s clash with Edge School, Calgary International Hockey Academy’s Hudson Bennefield hadn’t recorded a point in his last six games. The whole of the CIHA squad had been suffering for goals, losing 2-0 and 3-0 in their last two matches of 2025 before 6-1 on Wednesday night to open 2026. Sunday, however, served as a statement bounce-back for CIHA’s U15 squad. Bennefield led the way, with the young forward opening the scoring with the only goal of the first and extending it further in the second. Mick Mantrop, Lucas Beaudin, and Max Raymond also picked up goals for CIHA, and Vincent Arsenault stopped 26 of 27 to win the game.

Delta Hockey Academy Black (5) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (1) U15

Delta Hockey Academy Black’s 2026 started with a 5-1 win over Okanagan Hockey Academy on Friday, only a precursor to a 10-2 win over RHA Kelowna on Saturday. Come Sunday, it looked like OHA might be able to sway the game in the opposite direction. Kristian Bowen scored first to put OHA in front, but the lead didn’t last,, and DHAB’s top scorers flipped the game in their favour. Zach Giles (2G), Bentley Gillis (1G, 2A), Stefano Trentalance (2A), and Minseo Song (2A) combined for three goals and nine points between them to grab control of the game, and while he didn’t have a massive workload, Holter Karpiak (15/16) made the saves required of him to earn the win.

RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (2) vs Delta Hockey Academy (4) U17 Prep

Delta Hockey Academy’s U17 Prep squad looked to begin 2026 in the same winning form in which they ended 2025, finishing the calendar year with five straight victories, scoring 26 goals over those five games. It didn’t take long for that Delta offence to start firing in this one, with Christian Sum scoring less than two minutes in, and Delta’s offence pushing until they’d take a 4-0 lead. Casey Pearson (1G, 2A) and Nicolas Peach (1G, 2A) led the way with a goal and three points apiece, and while RHA Kelowna’s third-period pushback was admirable, they’d only get within two as Delta held on for the victory.

Calgary International Hockey Academy (6) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (3) U18 Prep

Calgary International Hockey Academy’s U18 Prep team defeated the Northern Alberta Xtreme 6-4 on Saturday, with Sunday being NAX’s opportunity to hit CIHA back. However, CIHA’s offence had managed to score five or more goals in three of the last four games. NAX led 1-0 and 2-1 at different points of the game, but eventually, that potent CIHA offence broke through. They’d score five of the last six goals in the game, led by two points apiece from Declan Cardiff (2G), Marcus Vo (1G, 1A), Aedan McCarry (2), and Reeve Waugh (2A). NAX’s pushback was limited to just three, with CIHA scoring another six goals, remaining a perfect two-for-two in the U18 Prep division in 2026.
