GAME DAY RECAP: February 26, 2023

Okanagan Hockey Ontario U18 (2) vs Ontario Hockey Academy Prep (3) Eastern U18

James Legler opened the scoring for Ontario Hockey Academy, Zachary Larocque scored his seventh of the season and Marius Ottesen picked up the game winning goal for the Mavericks. Mavrick Boucher and Rhys Hausz added solo tallies for Okanagan Hockey Ontario in the loss.

Okanagan Hockey Academy (3) vs Notre Dame (5) U16 Prep

Kade McIvor, Carter Ellsworth and Jack Elliot had a goal and an assist each for Notre Dame, while Pherson Loehndorf and Jacob Elliot added solo tallies. Ben Chornomydz turned aside 31 shots to register the win between the pipes for the Hounds, his ninth win of the season.

Edge School (3) vs Prairie Hockey Academy (2)  U17 Prep

Owen Mastroianni scored his 18th goal of the season, Leim Smith converted on the powerplay for Edge School and Tyler Deakos’ 17th of the year held up as the game-winner. Lukas Borne scored on the powerplay and Cole King scored in the third period to make things interesting late for Prairie Hockey Academy, but Edge School would hold on for the win.

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (6) vs OHA Edmonton (7) U16 Prep

Noah Kelly and Kaden Wilkins both scored a pair of goals for OHA Edmonton, while Nicholas Rowney and Cale Chimera notched a goal and two assists each. Eastyn Dimond had a goal and an assist to round it out, while Peter Williams added three assists. Jed Lake had five points for Pacific Coast Hockey Academy, with two goals and three assists in the loss.

Delta Hockey Academy Black (3) vs Shawnigan Lake School (7) U15 Prep

Eric Wagman had a hat-trick plus one, with four goals in the game for Shawnigan Lake School, while Nigel Alberts had a goal and two assists and Eli McKamey added four helpers. Chace Smith and Sullivan Bryan scored solo tallies for Shawnigan Lake School to round out the scoring. Liam Ryan made 38 saves to pick up the win between the pipes.

Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (0) vs Notre Dame (5) U17 Prep

Russell Newman turned aside all 31 shots he faced in net to record the shutout win for Notre Dame. Taye Shukin had a goal and two assists, Jack Thorne and Bowman Klippenstein had a goal and an assist each, while Kalan Dickie and Riley Mitchell added solo tallies in the game.

Okanagan Hockey Academy (0) vs Delta Hockey Academy (5) U17 Prep

Grayson Salmon had a goal and two assists for Delta Hockey Academy, while Dane Pyatt and Jovan Sandhu added a goal and a helper each. Phillipp Nuss and Kris Ramos added solo tallies to round out the scoring. Mathias Hasselmann turned aside 23 shots to earn the shutout and his 13th win of the season for Delta. 

Edge School (3) vs RHA Kelowna (5) U16 Prep

Luca Cupello had a five-point performance for RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna, scoring two goals and adding three assists. Riley Pederson had a goal and an assist, while Teghan Mullin and Alex Collin added solo tallies for RHAK. Tyler Auger notched two tallies for Edge School in the loss.

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (2) vs Shawnigan Lake School (3) U17 Prep

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy had a two-goal lead after goals from Nick Scott and Anson Speirs, but Shawnigan Lake School would respond. Eliot Compton scored his 20th of the season, Brendyn Van Oene notched his 28th and Chase Kittleson picked up the game-winner with his 14th of the season for Shawnigan Lake School. 

Delta Hockey Academy (2) vs RHA Winnipeg (4) U16 Prep

RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg earned their 32nd win of the season with a win over Delta Hockey Academy. Carson Legault scored twice, Sage Dela Cruz had a goal and an assist, and Hudson Brehaut added a solo marker for RHAW. Dalton Toma had a goal and an assist, and Nicholas Campbell scored his 14th of the season for Delta Hockey Academy.

North Shore Warriors (1) vs BWC Academy (11) U15 Prep

BWC Academy hit double digits on the scoreboard against the North Shore Warriors on Sunday. Oleksii (Alex) Zhekov had a hat-trick, Ty Bonkwoski and Kai Anderson each had a goal and three assists, while Jonathan Lee and Jake Banicevic had two goals apiece. Jeevin Sandhu turned aside 15 of 16 shots to pick up the win between the pipes.

Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (5) vs Notre Dame (2) U15 Prep

Sam Carnegie and Liam Chartrand scored first and second period goals as PMHA led 2-0 heading into the third. Louis James Prystupa and Cater Hudyma would score less than three minutes apart to tie the game early in the third but Ryder Lilly, Hank Thompson (1G, 1A) and Carson Carels (1G, 2A) would respond for PMHA to give them a 5-2 win. 

Yale Hockey Academy (2) vs RHA Kelowna (5) U17 Prep

Backed by four goals in a span of seven minutes in the first period RHA Kelowna defeated Yale 5-2. Noah Marshall (1G, 1A) and Levi Benson would score for Yale in the second but a Toby Simpkins goal 46 seconds into the third would kill any chance of a Yale comeback. Brayden Holberton (1G, 2A) led all skaters with three points while Brayden Rotach (2G) added two goals in the win. Jovin Manhas (33/35) made 33 saves to earn the win. 

BWC Academy (2) vs Prairie Hockey Academy (3/SO) U16 Prep

Shaenen Long and Jackson Folliott would trade first period goals and a scoreless second would see the game enter the third tied 1-1. Mateo Prexler would give BWC Academy their second lead of the game 36 seconds into the third before Asher Watson tied the game with 6:430 remaining. Kale Gorski (35/37) and Noah Sinagowitz (37/39) would keep the game tied at 2-2 after five minutes of overtime and eight rounds of shooters before Kyler Anderson finally broke through to give PHA the 3-2 win. 

RHA Kelowna (4) vs Yale Hockey Academy (8) U15

Seth Castronuovo (4G) scored four times, Shaun Hildebrandt (2G, 1A) added two goals of his own and Matteo Di Stefano (3A) added three assists as Yale beat RHA Kelowna 8-4. It would take Yale just 15 seconds to grab the lead, who was backed by a 33 save performance from Aiden Lazazzera (33/37). Defenceman Ronin Martin(2G) scored twice for RHA Kelowna in the loss. 

Delta Hockey Academy Green (4) vs RHA Kelowna (5/SO) U15 Prep

Milan Mrsic scored shorthanded as Delta Green led 1-0 after 20. The second period saw Cage Smith score once and Cruz Waltze (3G) twice as RHA Kelowna led 3-1 after 40. Max Malinousky and Waltze would trade goals before Lukas Lima (2G) scored twice to tie the game and force OT. After five minutes of overtime a shootout was required where Brody Gillespie scored the only goal and Steele Bass (23/27) stopped all three Delta Green shooters. 

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (2) vs Shawnigan Lake School (5) U18 Prep

Wyatt Blace and Ethan Andrews scored 1:08 apart as PCHA held a 2-0 lead approaching the end of the first. Jonatan Raatikainen (1G, 2A) would get Shawnigan on the board with a late first period power play goal and after a scoreless second Josh Polak, Emmery Golchert, Rocco Tavernese, and George Stavrianeas would all score in the third as Shawnigan overcame a two goal deficit to earn the 5-2 win. 

Okanagan Hockey Academy (7) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (1) U15 Prep

Kadyn O’Brien (2G, 1A), Mathis Preston (3A), Liam Ruck (2G, 1A) and Markus Ruck (1G, 2A) all recorded three point games as OHA defeated PCHA 7-1. Holden Duggan would get PCHA on the board just 11 seconds into the third but Liam Ruck responded just 10 seconds later to halt any idea of a PCHA comeback. Logan Alexei Booth (33/40) made 33 saves in the loss. 

RHA Kelowna (2) vs Yale Hockey Academy (4) U18 Prep

Shea Busch and Steven Foster (1G, 1A) scored first period goals as Yale led 2-0 after 20. Callum Stone would score the lone second period goal and John Franceschetti would tie the game midway through the third. However, it was all for nothing as Savin Virk (1G, 1A) and Nate Mayes would score 33 seconds apart in the dying moments to give Yale a 4-2 victory. 

St. George’s School (2) vs Yale Hockey Academy (9) U15 Prep

Defenseman Ben MacBeath (2G, 3A) and forwards Jayden Oleskiw (2G, 1A) and Brayden Ryan-Mackay (2G, 2A) all scored twice as Yale beat St. George’s 9-2. Jonathan Bitonti (3A) and Koray Bozkaya (2A) each added multi assist games while Aiden Eskit (19/21) chipped in with 19 saves. Sam Auld and Harshaan Kaila scored for St. George’s in the loss.
