GAME DAY RECAP: February 2-3, 2023

Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (1) vs International Hockey Academy (5) U18 Prep

Lance Insko opened the scoring 4:50 into the first as CDA held a 1-0 lead but IHA would rally for five straight to claim a 5-1 victory. Gavin Garland (2G) scored twice while Calan Blondeau (3A) led all skaters with three assists. Rio Kroeker (15/16) made 15 saves in the win. Ben Delisi (40/45) was in net for CDA in the loss.  

Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (5) vs North Shore Warriors (7) U18 Prep

A high scoring first period saw each team score three goals as the game entered the second tied 3-3. Wake Purdy (3G) would score three unanswered in the second as North Shore led 6-3 heading into the third. Tyler Fairbairn would get one back for PMHA just 52 seconds into the third and Joshua Gulden (1G, 1A) would bring PMHA within one midway through the frame. Jordan Young would extend the lead for North Shore just minutes later, clinching a 7-5 win. 

International Hockey Academy (3) vs RHA Kelowna (6) U17 Prep

Ryker Rougeau (2G, 1A) and Brayden Rotach (2G, 2A) scored first period goals as RHA Kelowna jumped out to a 2-0 lead. Kesar Deol would score 37 seconds into the second and Luca Dufour would tie the game just a minute and a half later. Rougeau and Logan Anderson (1G, 1A) would respond for RHA Kelowna as they again led by two heading into the third. Ayaan Vira (1G, 1A) would score midway through the frame to cut the deficit to one but goals from Toby Simpkins (1G, 1A) and Rotach would secure a RHA Kelowna victory. 

Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (3) vs Indigenous Sports Academy (4/OT) U17 Prep

Brody Asuchak and Jesse Arendt scored in the first period to give Coeur d’Alene an early 2-0 lead. Indigenous Sports Academy answered with three-straight goals to take the lead, scored by Courage Steinhauer-George (PP), Deylan Watson (PP) and Dreydon Bear, but it took just 20-seconds for CDA to tie the game in the third period. Riley Nadell notched his third of the season to tie the game, which would require extra time to determine a winner. In OT, Watson scored his second of the game to win it for ISA.

BWC Academy (5) vs Edge School (4) U17 Prep

After two scoreless periods the floodgates opened as both teams combined for nine goals in the third period. Matthew Sutherland scored 15 seconds into the frame for BWC Academy to get the scoring started, while Liam Loughery’s marker in the final minute of the game proved to be the game-winner. Logan Murray scored twice for Edge School, registering his 10th and 11th goals of the season.

Wenatchee Wild 18U (2) vs St. George’s School (6) U18 Prep

It was a close contest after the first period, with both teams tallying twice. Logan Nagle scored a pair of goals for Wenatchee in the frame, while Ben Sutton and Simon Ward answered for St. George’s. It was all Saints from there on out. Benn Sutton scored twice, Jesse Fader added a goal and an assist and Zach Zapanta tallied his 10th to round it out. 

RHA Winnipeg (3) vs RHA Kelowna (0) U18 Prep

Avery Laliberte scored in the first period, Peyton Pieczko added to the lead on a powerplay in the second and Jackson Kostiuk finished off the scoring in the third period for RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg. Ethan Simcoe picked up his ninth win of the season and third shutout with a 45-save performance between the pipes for RHAW.

Notre Dame (0) vs RHA Kelowna (11) U15 Prep

RINK Hockey Academy hit double-digits on the scoreboard, firing 74 shots on net while limiting Notre Dame to just seven total shots in the game. Joe Iginla registered a hat-trick, Benjamin Bowtell had a goal and three assists, while Cruz Waltze and Giorgos Pantelas added two goals and an assist each in the game. Steele Bass picked up his eighth win in a row and second shutout of the season between the pipes for RHAK. 

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (8/OT) vs Notre Dame (7) U17 Prep

It was a high-scoring affair in this one, with 15 goals scored in total and overtime was required to determine a winner. Defencemen led the charge offensively for both teams in this one. Michael Konechny had a five-point game with two goals and three assists for Pacific Coast Hockey Academy while, on the other side, Carter Graw scored twice and added two helpers for Notre Dame. PCHA was trailing by two goals late in the game but managed to force OT, when Nick Scott lit the lamp two times to tie the game. Both goals came in the final two minutes of the third period. Parker MacDougall completed the comeback, scoring 49-seconds into the extra frame to win it for PCHA. 

International Hockey Academy (4) vs Shawnigan Lake School (5) U17 Prep

Shawnigan Lake School had the lead twice in the game and International Hockey Academy tied the game twice in a close contest that went the distance to determine a winner. Eliot Compton and Chase Kittleson had a goal and two assists each for Shawnigan Lake School while Ayaan Vira and Michiel Leenders added a goal and assist respectively for International Hockey Academy. Tied after regulation, extra time was needed and eventually a shootout, where Conall Hill scored the lone goal to win it for Shawnigan Lake School.

Prairie Hockey Academy (1) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (13)  U15 Prep

Okanagan Hockey Academy fired 76 shots on the Prairie Hockey Academy net in the game. Markus Ruck had a seven-point game with two goals and five assists, Liam Ruck had a hat-trick and added three assists, Keegan Bailey scored and picked up five helpers, while Mathis Preston and Tyson Schamehorn scored two goals and two assists each for OHA.  Parker Parrish made 12 saves to pick up the win between the pipes.

OHA Edmonton (3/OT) vs St. George’s School (2) U17 Prep

Reese Hicks and Madox Fisher both scored powerplay goals to give OHA Edmonton the lead, but Amadeo Sim and Minsuk Hou responded in the third period for St. George’s School to tie the game. Overtime would be needed and in the extra frame Hunter Yee notched his 17th goal of the season to win it for OHAE.

Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (3) vs OHA Edmonton (7) U18 Prep

Julien Maze had a four-point game with two goals and two assists for OHA Edmonton, while Gursimar Mann and Landen McFadden both scored a goal and added two helpers in the game. Luke Roberts made 32 saves to register his sixth win of the season between the pipes for OHA Edmonton.

RHA Kelowna (6) vs Wenatchee Wild 16 (4) U17 Prep

Ryker Rougeau, Ryan Richardson, Logan Flint and Jackson Roberts all scored a goal and an assist in the contest for RHA Kelowna, while Jake Skogstad and Torin Thickson added three assists each. Kelsen Podworny and Brayden Holberton scored solo tallies to round it out. Gabriel Eckdahl led the offence for Wenatchee, scoring twice in the loss.

North Shore Warriors (1) vs International Hockey Academy (7) U18 Prep

Max Sullican had a four-point game with a pair of goals and two helpers, Ty McKay scored twice and added an assist, Mitchell Patrick had a goal and an assist, while Devon Winder and Calan Blondeau picked up a goal each for International Hockey Academy. Brenner Fyfe made 27 saves for his seventh win of the season between the pipes.

St. George’s School (1) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (5) U15 Prep

Knox Bendera scored twice for Northern Alberta Xtreme, Jacob Harkness had a goal and an assist, while Tucker Tullikopf and Nolan Stewart scored solo tallies for NAX. Jacob Schwartz scored the lone goal for St. George’s School, as Parker Snell remains undefeated in net, turning aside 23 of 24 shots to earn his 12th-straight win.

Okanagan Hockey Academy (2) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (9) U17 Prep

Northern Alberta Xtreme improved to 26-1-0 on the season, firing 68 shots on goal against Okanagan Hockey Academy in the game. Lukas Kaplan led the way with two goals and an assist, as Eric Giesbrecht, Jack Toogood and Jaxen Gauchier each had three-point efforts, with a goal and two helpers each. Charlie Grant and Hudson Closson lit the lamp for Okanagan Hockey Academy in the loss.

Prairie Hockey Academy (2) vs Yale Hockey Academy (6) U17 Prep

Lucas Biros and Levi Benson both picked up four points for Yale Hockey Academy. Biros had a hat-trick, with three goals and an assist while Benson scored and added three helpers. Ilija Majkic scored his 15th goal of the season and added an assist, as well. Both goals scored by Prairie Hockey Academy came via the powerplay with goals from Mikale Budz and Austin Wentz. 

Shawnigan Lake School (3) vs RHA Winnipeg (8) U15 Prep

After a scoreless first Koy Funk (1G, 1A) and Max Dowse scored for RHA Winnipeg in the first 2:31 of the second period. Eli McKamey (2G) would get Shawnigan on the board just two minutes later before Zach Lansard (1G, 2A), Shea Rollason (1G, 1A), Daniel DeGagne (2G), and Daxon Yerex (1G, 1A) responded for RHA Winnipeg. Eric Wagman would score a late second period goal for Shawnigan and McKamey would score midway through the third but Maddox Malmquist (1G, 2A) and DeGagne would put the game out of reach in the third. 

Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (0) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (14) U18 Prep

Hunter Sellers (3G, 4A) recorded a hattrick and led all skaters with seven points while Logan Goodwin (4A) and Presley Kerner (2G, 4A) each had four assists. Sharky Nowek (9/9) made just nine saves to record the shutout. 

Delta Hockey Academy (8) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (1) U17 Prep

Jack Ferguson, Isa Guram (1G, 1A) and Cole Brown scored first period goals as Delta jumped out to a 3-0 advantage. Damian Kravcak (1G, 1A) would build off the lead in the second but a Beau Murray tally would bring the game back within three heading into the third. The third period would see Delta double their goal total as Nash Holmes (1G, 1A), Jackson DeGraves (1G, 2A), Caden Cail (1G, 1A) and Phillipp Nuss (1G, 1A) all found the back of the net. 

Delta Hockey Academy (3) vs Edge School (9) U18 Prep

Edge outshot Delta 59-14 in a 9-3 win Friday. Keets Fawcett (2G, 3A) and Cash Koch (4A) led the Edge offence with five and four points respectively. Hayden Harsanyi (1G, 1A) and Luke Lawford (1G, 1A) each had a goal and an assist in the win. Derek Thurston (2A) paced the Delta offence with two points. Noah Stenvig (50/59) made 50 saves in the loss. 

Okanagan Hockey Academy U18 (9) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy U17 (0) Female U18 Prep

Julia Duke (4G, 1A) scored four goals and added an assist to lead the OHA U18 team to a 9-0 win. Kismet Dogan (2A) and Sienna Vieira (2A) each had two assists while Farah Walker (9/9) made just nine saves to record the shutout. 

Delta Hockey Academy Green (4) vs Edge School (5/OT) U15 Prep

Ryan Lin (1G, 1A) scored once and Lukas Lima (2G) twice as Delta led 3-0 after 20. The second period would be a reverse image as Brendan Rudolph (2G, 1A) scored twice and Ryan Boyce (1G, 1A) once for Edge as they tied the game. But a Joshua Lee goal just two minutes later saw the Delta lead restored. Chris Wright would tie the game late in the third and AJ Tarnowski (1G, 1A) would score on the powerplay in overtime to give Edge the win. 

RHA Kelowna (1) vs OHA Edmonton (6) U15

Noah Stone scored just 1:32 into the game but Ronin Martin would respond for RHA Kelowna 57 seconds later. That was as close as they would get as OHA Edmonton would score five unanswered with Kenneth Petaulassie (1G, 1A) scoring in the first and Rhys Clayton (1G, 1A), Jihwan Kim (2G) and Luca Vadori finding the back of the net in the third. Cole Chorostkowski (28/29) made 28 saves in the win. 

BWC Academy (4) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (1) U16 Prep

Cooper Stockdale opened the scoring on the powerplay 4:36 into the game but Cadel Gourlay responded for PCHA just 23 seconds later. Another 25 seconds after that Mateo Prexler regave BWC Academy the lead with his third of the season. Shaenen Long gave BWC Academy an insurance marker in the second and Brandon Burns (1G, 1A) seeled the deal in the third with another powerplay goal. Noah Sinagowitz (24/25) made 24 saves in the win. 

Notre Dame (1) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (6) U18 Prep

Noah Kosick (4A) tallied four assists, Carson Lesiuk (2G, 1A) scored twice and Ryan Parker (24/25) made 24 saves as PCHA defeated Notre Dame 6-1. Rowan Guest (1G, 2A) and Landon Mackie (1G, 1A) each chipped in with multi-point games in the win. Ryan Zabchuk scored the lone Notre Dame goal. 

Yale Hockey Academy (7) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (1) U18 Prep

Backed by a four goal first period that included three powerplay goals, Yale defeated NAX 7-1. Grant Reid (2G) scored twice while Justin Ivanusec (2A), Cohen Massey (2A), and Chase Valliant (1G, 2A) each had two assists in the game. Walker Overwater scored the lone NAX goal in the second period as Ethan Eskit (38/39) stopped 38 shots to earn the win. 

North Shore Warriors (2) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (12) U15

OHA outshot North Shore 62-12 in a 12-2 win Friday. Caiden Osiowy-Mah (3G, 1A) recorded a hattrick and Kolton Denich (2G, 4A) and Griffin Hoy (1G, 4A) each added four assists. Sean Murphy and Chase Vossenaar scored the goals for North Shore in the loss. 

St. George’s School (2) vs Edge School (10) U15

Edge raced out to a 6-0 lead after 20 and didn’t look back as they defeated St. George’s 10-2. Declan Cardiff (2G), Mirco Dufour (2G, 1A) and Kyle Oakenfold (2G, 2A) all scored twice while Nathan Cole (2A) and Seamus Dillon (1G, 2A) each added two assists. Alexander Allen (1G, 1A) and Jonathan Beraldin (1G, 1A) played a part in both St. George’s goals. 

North Shore Warriors (0) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (4) U16 Prep

Conner Nicolson (20/20) stopped all 20 shots he faced as he earned his second shutout of the 2022/23 season. Defenceman Ruben Stone (2G) scored twice, Taj Roberts (2A) added two assists and Jacob Davidson and Bradley Schmidt (1G, 1A) scored the other OHA goals as they defeated North Shore 4-0. Nicklaus Kotai (41/44) made 41 stops in the loss. 

Edge School (3) vs RHA Winnipeg (2) U16 Prep

Edge School (11-11-1) handed RHA Winnipeg (27-1-1) their first regulation loss of the season with a 3-2 victory. Jeff Niehaus and Lincoln Martin scored in the first as Edge led 2-0 after 20. The game would enter the third tied 2-2 thanks to goals by Wyatt Stinton and Hudson Brehaut for RHA Winnipeg. Scott Sandilands would score on the powerplay with 3:13 remaining to give Edge the upset victory. Brooke Davis (62/64) made a whopping 62 saves in net for the win while Brant Catellier (33/36) was in net for RHA Winnipeg. 

Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (2) vs Yale Hockey Academy (11) U15 Prep

The first period ended tied at 1-1 but it was all Yale after that as they would score 10 goals in the remaining two periods to grab an 11-2 win. Jacob Dumansky (2G, 1A), Logan Martin (2G, 1A), Ryker Swanson (2G, 1A), and Jayden Oleskiw (2G, 2A) all scored twice in the win. Colby Callan (3A) and Ben MacBeath (3A) each added three assists. 

South Alberta Hockey Academy (2) vs BWC Academy (7) U18 Prep

Carter Lundie (3G, 1A) and Brogan Pilgaard-Kennedy (3A) paced the BWC Academy offence in a 7-2 win over SAHA. Aidan Fischer (23/25) made 23 saves and Brody Lindal (2A) and Ryder Mcintosh (2A) each tallied two assists in the win. Josiah Jackson (2G) scored both SAHA goals in the loss. 

Prairie Hockey Academy (3) vs Shawnigan Lake School (2)U18 Prep

After a scoreless first Josh Polak scored the lone second period goal to give Shawnigan a 1-0 advantage heading into the third. Ty Pratte (1G, 1A) would tie the game early in the third and Ryder Rommelaere (1G, 1A) would give Prairie the lead five minutes later. George Stavrianeas would tie the game 51 seconds later but a late goal from Matty Healey would give PHA a 3-2 win. Liam Ernst (28/30) made 28 saves in the win. 

Edge School U18 (2) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy U18 (4) Female U18 Prep

Tea Pearce (2G, 1A) scored her 13th goal of the season as SAHA led 1-0 after 20. Makayla Watson (2G) got Edge on the board midway through the second but SAHA still led heading into the third thanks to a Kendal Davidson goal. Pearce would extend the lead 4:43 into the third before Watson scored a minute later to bring Edge back within one. But an empty net goal from Ryan Harvey-Zenk would secure the SAHA win. 

Yale Hockey Academy (0) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (4) U15

Cam Hoose (25/25) made 25 saves to earn his fourth shutout of the season as NAX defeated Yale 4-0. Thayne Wasyluk, Jaggar John (1G, 1A), Reid Soper and Kyle Denis (1G, 1A) scored the NAX goals and Memphis Adeniken (3A) tallied three points. Aiden Lazazzera (33/36) made 33 saves in the loss. 

Delta Hockey Academy (2) vs BWC Academy (6) U15

Ryan Fox (2G), Daniel Taylor, and Connor Liu (1G, 2A) all scored in the final five and a half minutes of the first as BWC Academy grabbed a 3-0 lead. Alexander Laing and Beckett Matlock would score 49 seconds apart to get Delta within one but Kayden Pratt would extend the BWC Academy lead to two heading into the third. Riley Sytsma (1G, 1A) and Fox would add third period goals and Cash Christie (28/30) would make 28 saves.
