GAME DAY RECAP: February 19-20, 2023

International Hockey Academy (4) vs Prairie Hockey Academy (6) U17 Prep

Aidan Vallance and Gage Nagel each scored twice for Prairie Hockey Academy, while both Avery Johnson and Austin Wentz added a goal and two assists each. Johnson’s 15th of the season, scored on the powerplay, held up as the game-winner. Michiel Leenders tallied twice and added two helpers for International Hockey Academy in the loss.

Okanagan Hockey Academy (3) vs Delta Hockey Academy (5) U17 Prep

The score was tied 3-3 midway through the third period when Phillips Nuss scored his second goal of the contest for Delta Hockey Academy, which held up as the game-winner, and added an empty-net goal late in the game to complete the hat-trick. Chris Kilduff scored twice for Okanagan Hockey Academy in the contest.

St. Mary’s Academy U18 (4) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy U18 (6) Female U18 Prep

Brooklynne Painter scored twice for South Alberta Hockey Academy, including the game winning goal, while Norah Andronyk added a goal and an assist. Charlotte Buffie had a three-point game with a goal and two assists for St. Mary’s Hockey Academy in the loss. Devyn Amundson made 16 saves to record the win between the pipes for SAHA.

Okanagan Hockey Academy (7) vs St. George’s School (4) U15 Prep

Tyson Schamehorn had a four-point game with a goal and three assists for Okanagan Hockey Academy, Mathis Preston scored twice and added a helper, while Kaydn O’Brien scored a goal and two assists in the game. Lucas Benn scored two goals and Harshaan Kaila had three points with a goal and two assists in the loss. 

Okanagan Hockey Academy (2) vs Delta Hockey Academy (5) U18 Prep

Bennett Miller had a four-point performance for Delta Hockey Academy, scoring two goals and adding two assists, Derek Thurston had a goal and a helper, while Brogan Mcneil and Bryan Kim picked up solo tallies to round out the scoring for Delta. Brendan Gee made 25 saves to pick up his 10th win of the season.

Yale Hockey Academy (3) vs BWC Academy (4/SO) U18 Prep

Extra time was required to determine a winner in this one. Luke Cozens, Nolan Viesner and Chase Valliant scored for Yale Hockey Academy who took a two-goal lead into the third period. Nate Crema scored a shorthanded goal in the game and picked up his second of the game in the final frame, while Ryder McIntosh scored the tying goal to force overtime. OT solved nothing, but in the shootout, Koji Gibson scored the only goal to win it for BWC Academy.

Delta Hockey Academy U18 (3) vs RHA Kelowna U18 Female (4/OT) U18 Prep

RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (24-1-1-1) picked up their 24th win of the season with an overtime win over Delta Hockey Academy. Callie Rice had a goal and an assist, while Kaitlyn Mallette and Rayden Spearman picked up solo tallies. Gracie Graham notched her 11th goal of the season in overtime to win it for RHAK. 

Northern Alberta Xtreme (5/OT) vs OHA Edmonton (4) U15

Harry Mattern had a four-point night, with a goal and three assists and Jackson Tetreault scored the game-winner in overtime, while adding two assists for Northern Alberta Xtreme. Yihwan Joon lit the lamp twice for OHA Edmonton in the loss.

Northern Alberta Xtreme U18 (2) vs Edge School U18 (3) Female U18 Prep

Jennifer Keller scored her 15th of the season for Edge School on the powerplay, Shannon Pearson picked up her 16th, while Jordan Blouin tallied the game winner. Keyana Bert and Maria Ayre (PP) scored for Northern Alberta Xtreme. Megs Thiessen earned her 12th win of the season with a 28 save performance. 

Prairie Hockey Academy (9) vs Notre Dame (1) U18 Prep

Ty Pratte registered four assists for Prairie Hockey Academy, while Kacey Russel and Bryson Aikens both scored twice and added an assist in the game. Devun Olfert notched two goals and Adam Belzil had three points with a goal and two helpers. Liam Ernst recorded the win with 19 saves between the pipes for PHA.

Delta Hockey Academy Black (3) vs BWC Academy (2) U15 Prep

After a scoreless first Kai Anderson found the back of the net in the second as BWC Academy led 1-0 heading into the third. Delta Black would finally break through in the third as Anthony Drover (1G, 1A), Colby Monette and Waylon Gardipy (1G, 1A) all scored. Logan Lepinski (1G, 1A) would score a power play goal for BWC Academy with 11 seconds left but it was too little too late as Delta Black held on for a 3-2 win. 

BWC Academy (2) vs St. George’s School (4 )U18 Prep

Peyton Mithmuangneua (1G, 1A) and Connor Pankratz (1G, 1A) traded first period goals and Jared Chin and Liam Payne traded second period markers as the two teams entered the third tied 2-2. In the third Luka Shcherbyna and Zach Zapanta would score for St. George’s as they would defeat BWC Academy 4-2. Jaiden Sharma (24/26) made 24 saves in the win. 

BWC Academy (3) vs North Shore Warriors (4/SO) U16 Prep

After a scoreless first BWC Academy led 2-0 heading into the third thanks to goals from Keiran Wilkie (1G, 1A) and Aidan Mark (1G, 1A). Nathan Tomcheck (1G, 1A) would extend the advantage 3:05 into the third before Nic Collins got NSW on the board 1:55 later, kick-starting a comeback. Joshua Moussodji and Christopher Mah would score late third period goals as North Shore forced an eventual shootout where Lucas Jakubec would score the only goal to give his team a 4-3 win.
