Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (6) vs Notre Dame Hounds (4) U15
Pacific Coast opened the scoring early as Koen Nicholas (1G, 1A) struck 1:47 into the first, but Notre Dame answered with a pair of late power play goals from Jacob Peters (1G) and Aleksi Houle‑Lewis (2G) to take a 2–1 lead after one. The second period swung wildly as Luke Bowes (1G, 1A) tied it 54 seconds in and Gus Steeves (1G, 3A) restored the PCHA lead before a shorthanded marker from Philo Armstrong (1G) briefly pulled the Hounds level. Brayden Castelsky (1G, 1A) responded on the power play and, after Houle‑Lewis tied it again on the man advantage, Austin Murray (1G, 2A) capped a four‑goal frame to send Pacific Coast into the third up 5–4. PCHA controlled the final period, outshooting Notre Dame 17–5 and adding insurance through Nolan Riley (1G) at 8:35, locking down a 6–4 win behind Dylan Van Wieren’s 26‑save performance (26/30) while Cole Kuzyk (38/44) made 38 stops in the loss.
Delta Hockey Academy Black (4/SO) vs BWC Academy (3) U15
Delta Black grabbed the early edge when Bentley Gillis (2G) opened the scoring at 15:35 of the first, and Stefano Trentalance (1G) doubled the lead early in the second before BWC answered through Nolan Gallagher (1G). The game flipped in the third as BWC struck twice with a power play marker from Mars Zhang (1G) and a go‑ahead goal from Alex Iaichkin (1G, 1A), but Gillis tied it with 3:29 left to force overtime. After a scoreless extra frame, the shootout decided it, with Gillis and Trentalance converting for Delta while Adriano Ciccone scored the lone BWC marker as Delta Black took a 4–3 win. Holter Karpiak (33/36) made 33 saves in the victory, while William Houle (40/43) stopped 40 in the loss.
Selwyn House School (7/SO) vs Fort Erie International Academy (6) East U17 Prep
Selwyn House looked ready to run away with it early as Jake Holman (1G) opened the scoring and then the team built a 3–0 lead by 6:58 of the second, but Fort Erie refused to go quietly, clawing back with two late goals to make it a game heading into the third. The final frame turned into pure chaos: Aadi Patel (1G) restored the Selwyn House cushion, Isaac Huberman (1G, 1A) added a power play marker, and Matheo Lazanis (1G) pushed the lead to 6–2, only for Fort Erie to erupt with four goals in a frantic 12‑minute stretch, Jayden Goolab (1G), Elisei Melikian (1G, 1A), Ilia Sokurenko (1G, 1A) and finally Emerick Girard (1G, 2A) completing the comeback to force overtime. After a breathless but scoreless extra frame, the shootout decided it, with Kieran Larsen and Patel converting for Selwyn while Evan Un Yi (41/47) shut the door to secure a wild 7–6 win.
Bourget College (3) vs Bishop’s College School (5) East U18 Prep
Bishop’s came out flying on home ice as Dominic Schnarr (1G) opened the scoring before his teammates piled on two more in the first, including a power play strike from Liam Boisclair (1G) and a Luca Stasi (1G, 1A) finish to take early control, though Xavier Martin (1G) briefly pulled Bourget level. The second period tightened but BCS still found the key moment, with Bastien Michaud (1G, 1A) converting on the man advantage before Antoine Grenier (1G) answered late on a Bourget power play to keep it close. Any hopes of a comeback were dented 52 seconds into the third when Taitt Dobbin (1G) scored on a penalty shot to restore a two‑goal cushion, and while Keifer Pion‑Robin (1G, 1A) added a shorthanded marker in the dying seconds, Bishop’s never let the lead slip as they closed out a 5–3 win. Timofey Williams (28/31) steadied things in net for BCS, while Samuel Pitcher (34/39) made 34 saves in the loss.
Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (4) vs Prairie Hockey Academy (1) U15
Coeur d’Alene needed one push to break open a tight, penalty‑filled game, and it came from the players who’ve been driving their offense all season. Blake Legler (1G) opened the scoring early in the second before Prairie briefly answered on the power play, but Reed Witham (1G, 1A), already sitting on a 50‑point season, restored the lead minutes later, a reminder of how central he’s become to CDA’s transition game. From there CDA’s top line took over late: Jagger Clark (1G, 2A), who continues to build on his 40‑goal campaign, buried the empty‑net dagger at 18:52, and TJ Podollan (1G, 2A) added another with one second left to hit the 30‑goal mark on the year. Prairie never found a rhythm at even strength, and Bo Toperosky (25/26) turned aside 25 shots to secure a 4–1 win for CDA, who leaned once again on the firepower of a top trio that’s been among the league’s most productive all season.
Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy (5) vs North Shore Warriors (8) U15
North Shore came in desperate to build on just their sixth win of the season, and they played like a team trying to prove their record doesn’t match their talent, outgunning Wenatchee 8–5 behind a statement night from their top scorers. Wenatchee actually struck first on a power play through Kaden Wright (1G, 1A), but once the Warriors settled in, their big names took over: Abel Lindsay (1G, 1A) tied it on the man advantage, Langdon Moore (1G, 1A) gave NSW the lead late in the first, and from there the floodgates opened. Max Darlow (3G, 2A), already one of the lone bright spots in a tough season, delivered a hat‑trick and five‑point performance, while Cody Simmons (2G, 3A) matched him stride for stride with a five‑point night of his own. Wenatchee kept punching back with goals from Caden Bailey (1G, 1A), Connor Stump (1G) and Canyon Toombs (1G), but every surge was met with another North Shore answer, including two power play goals in the third as the Warriors’ special teams finally looked like a strength. Sawyer Shepard (1G, 1A) and Moore added insurance, and despite a late Wenatchee marker from Carson Stefani (1G), NSW closed out one of their most complete offensive outings of the year.
OHA Edmonton (1) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (4) U17 Prep
Northern Alberta came in looking to snap a three‑game skid, and they played like a group intent on resetting their season, jumping on OHA Edmonton early with two goals in 34 seconds as Nash Weyland (2G) and Seth Kshyk (1G, 1A) set the tone. Weyland added a power play marker in the second to stretch the lead, and by the time Kayton Reinders (1G) made it 4–0 midway through the third, the NAX had fully imposed their structure on a game that had been wide open early. OHA Edmonton couldn’t generate the same push they’ve shown over the past month despite 36 shots, finally breaking through only in the final minute when Hudson Blair (1G) buried his 11th of the year. Dawson Sheehan (35/36) was sharp throughout for NAX, while Adrien Brochu (36/40) kept OHA in it as long as he could in a 4–1 NAX win that felt like a much‑needed course correction for a team trying to climb back above .500.
Delta Hockey Academy Black (3) vs Delta Hockey Academy Green (7) Female U18 Prep
Delta Green came in riding a five‑game win streak and looking every bit like a group pushing toward the top of the division, and they showed exactly why with a 7–3 win. Delta Black actually struck first just 22 seconds in through Lucy Williams (1G), who continues to be their most reliable finisher, but Delta Green answered with three in the opening frame, Cameryn Shiels (2G), Abigail Jung (1G, 1A) and then Adie Schneider (1G, 3A), whose 41‑point season has become one of the most complete offensive campaigns in the league. After a scoreless second, DHA Green broke the game open in the third as Haley Waugh (2G) scored twice in a three‑minute span, Emma Biros (1G, 1A) added her 10th of the year, and Shiels capped the night with her 13th to put things out of reach. DHA Black pushed late and were rewarded with a goal from Kinleigh Blane (1G), but Ella Dunham‑Fox (25/28) held firm while Saysha Brace (36/43) faced a relentless 43‑shot barrage.
BWC Academy (3) vs St. George’s School (4/OT) U15 Prep
BWC looked poised for another win against St. George’s after jumping out to a 3–0 lead on goals from Ethan Kartadinata (1G), Kristian Lima (1G) and Hayden Carpenter (1G), continuing the strong form that had them riding a three‑game win streak and outscoring opponents 15–3 over their last three outings. But St. George’s, who came in fresh off a confidence‑building win and boasting one of the league’s most dangerous top lines, clawed their way back with a late second‑period strike from Theo Wesik (1G) before flipping the game in the third. Jayden Ni (1G, 2A), already sitting on a 45‑point season, buried his 24th just 58 seconds into the frame, and Matteo Gambetti (1G, 1A) tied it moments later as SGS seized all the momentum. Overtime felt inevitable from there, and it was John Main (1G) who completed the comeback at 4:56 of the extra frame, finishing off a feed from Luca Rogers (2A) to give St. George’s a 4–3 win. Cohen Wood (23/26) shut the door after the first period, while Jordan Bigelow (20/24) held strong under a late surge in a game that swung sharply from BWC control to an SGS rally that showcased why both teams sit near the top of the division.
Calgary International Hockey (5) Academy vs Edge School (2) U15 Prep
Calgary International came in rolling with a 9‑1 stretch in their last ten and wasted no time asserting themselves again, striking 97 seconds in through Kale Okubo (1G) before Jake Gerstenbuhler (3G) completely took over the middle frame, scoring three straight to hit 11 goals on the season. Edge briefly pushed back with a second‑period equalizer from Cruz Schwabe (1G) and a late third‑period marker by Cade Mazurski (1G), but they never found sustained pressure, generating just 18 shots against a CIHA team that’s tightened defensively over the past month. Bennett Pattison (1G, 1A) sealed it with an empty‑netter, while Ty Tunke (16/18) delivered another calm, efficient performance in a 5–2 win that extends Calgary’s surge and hands Edge their fourth straight loss.
North Shore Warriors (3) vs Yale Hockey Academy (12) U15 Prep
Yale Hockey Academy U15 Prep turned their trip to North Shore into a full‑scale showcase, rolling to a 12–3 win in a game that will be remembered far less for the score and far more for Parker McMillan’s place in history. The YHA forward didn’t just drive the offense, he rewrote the U15 Prep record book, piling up points 142, 143, 144 and 145 to pass the standing all‑time scoring mark of 144. His fingerprints were everywhere as Yale blitzed to a 5–0 lead inside nine minutes, with Marcus Phillips (4G, 1A) completing a first‑period hat trick and the power play humming at 4‑for‑4. The second period became a clinic: McMillan, Teagan Dernisky (1G, 3A), Carter Di Stefano (2G, 1A) and Jacob White (2G, 2A) all struck as Yale stretched the lead to 11–1. Even as the Warriors found a pair late, Yale’s control never wavered, and McMillan’s record‑breaking afternoon added a layer of significance to a dominant performance from a group already riding a 14‑game heater and looking every bit like the division’s standard‑bearer.
OHA Edmonton (10) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (0) Female U18 Prep
OHA Edmonton came in looking to rebound after a rare loss to Edge, and they responded with the kind of emphatic, wire‑to‑wire performance that’s defined their 22‑1‑1 season, overwhelming Northern Alberta Xtreme 10–0 behind a 60‑shot barrage and a showcase from their top producers. Riley Cooper (1G), already past the 50‑point mark, opened the scoring before Svana Sveinbjornson (2G, 3A) took over the first period, and the second frame turned into a full‑scale avalanche as OHA struck six times, including goals from Elena Chisholm (1G, 3A), Makenzie Levesque (1G), Cora Rydel (1G), Mercedes Dunbar (1G) and Ryann Chimera (2G, 1A), who continues to climb toward a 50‑assist season. By the time Chimera added her second late in the third and Kyla Pappas (1G) closed it out in the final minute, OHA had completely smothered NAX, holding them to just 17 shots while Emma Skolney (17/17) earned a calm shutout behind a team that controlled every inch of the ice. For NAX, it was another tough chapter in a season-long struggle, while OHA looked every bit like the powerhouse they’ve been all year.
Yale Hockey Academy (2) vs Delta Hockey Academy White (0) U15
Yale tightened continue to climb up the rankings in the U15 division with a composed 2–0 win over Delta White, leaning on a 40‑shot performance that never really allowed the game to drift. Emmett Rumbold (1G), who continues to push toward a 30‑goal season, opened the scoring late in the first off a feed from Brady Barrett (1A) and Matthew Tang (1A), and from there Yale simply squeezed the life out of the game, controlling possession and denying Delta any sustained looks. The insurance marker came midway through the third when Gavin Bruinsma (1G) buried his 11th of the year off a setup from Sebastien Sibley (1A). Mason Baptiste (17/17) earned a calm shutout behind a team that gave up almost nothing, while Logan Wagner (38/40) kept Delta competitive despite the shot disparity. For Yale, it’s another win in a stretch where they’ve looked every bit like a contender.
Okanagan Hockey Academy (2) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (3/SO) U17 Prep
Okanagan Hockey Academy and RINK Kelowna played one of those tight, territorial U17 Prep games where every mistake felt magnified, and in the end, it was RHA Kelowna’s poise in the shootout that sealed a 3–2 win. OHA came in riding a three‑game heater and struck just 20 seconds in, Jaxson Bartsch (1G) jumped on a loose puck and buried his ninth of the year to set the tone. But RINK Kelowna, winners of six of their last seven, slowly tightened the screws. Their power play broke through midway through the second when Cole Hamakawa (1G) tied it, and after OHA briefly reclaimed the lead on Beckham Taggart’s (1G) seventh of the season, Kaius Millan (1G) answered right back to knot things 2–2. From there it became a goaltending duel: Tyson Kuiack was excellent (29/31), but Dylan Mingo (46/48) was spectacular, turning aside 46 of 48 shots to drag RHA Kelowna into overtime and then the shootout. In the skills competition, RINK Kelowna leaned on Baden Glithero and Alexander Sharman who both scored, while OHA was shut out giving Kelowna the edge.
North Shore Warriors (0) vs Delta Hockey Academy (6) U17 Prep
The same victor had prevailed in both previous games between the North Shore Warriors and Delta Hockey Academy’s U17 Prep teams, with Delta’s 10-1 win followed up by a more modest 6-4 win in their second head-to-head clash. Delta returned to action with a commanding win over North Shore on the back of four second-period goals, one of which marking Medicine Hat Tigers prospect Casey Pearson’s (1G, 1A) twentieth goal of the season. The implication of DHA’s 6-0 win might be that Delta’s goaltender dealt with a reduced workload, but on Friday, that wasn’t the case between the Warriors and DHA. Jack Utsunomiya made 32 saves on 32 shots to earn his first shutout of the season, with the Penticton Vees prospect having won seven of his last eight games, bringing his save percentage to a dazzling .957 in ten starts this year.
RINK Hockey Kelowna (0) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (4) U15 Prep
Regional Rivals RINK Hockey Kelowna vs Okanagan Hockey Academy played their first of two head-to-head clashes of February on Friday, with the season series tied at one after they swapped wins in back-to-back early October clashes. The first two minutes of the game provided OHA with two key pillars to build the rest of their performance on Friday around, with Cohen Short (2G, 1A) and Lux Naka scoring 60 seconds apart. Leading by two within a mere 120 seconds of the game’s start, the focus of proceedings for OHA became shutting down any chance at an RHAK response. OHA’s penalty kill shone by killing off all four of RINK Kelowna’s power plays in the game. When RHAK would break through the OHA stronghold to generate grade ‘A’ scoring chances, the last line of OHA defence made the ultimate impact. Goaltender Oakley Speckman made 40 saves on 40 shots for the shutout, providing the WHL Draft prospect with his eighth win this season, and delivering OHA three wins in three games to start February.
Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (4) vs St. George’s School (2) U18 Prep
Pacific Coast Hockey Academy rolled into Friday’s game against St. George’s School keen on returning strong following a set of four high-intensity games over at the CSSHL’s East/West Challenge. Their St. George’s School opponent had lost both of their two games while home from the East/West competition out east, marking a disappointing follow-up to SGS winning all three of the games they’d played in January. PCHA looked sharper, but St. George’s looked the fresher of the two squads, making the entirety of the game evenly matched between the Vancouver Islanders and the SGS squad playing out of UBC. Jayan Sinha gave St. George’s the lead through twenty minutes, but in the second, a pair of PCHA power plays struck to flip the game around. Roman Lavery scored a pair of goals to bring his point streak up to eight games, with Lavery having now scored 11 goals and 7 assists in the eight games he’s played since the start of December. Jason Gao was able to level the score for St. George’s before the second period’s conclusion, but come the third, PCHA broke through once more, with Treytin Frizzell’s second goal of the season and first since the end of October giving the Sea Devils their lead back.
STAR Hockey Academy (1) vs OHA Edmonton (18) U15
The Kyle Stuart Memorial and Alumni Arenas at Edge School in Calgary host U15 squads from throughout the CSSHL this weekend, and while results varied throughout the day’s matchups, OHA Edmonton’s win over STAR was amongst the largest margins of victory we’re likely to see this weekend. OHAE hit the ground running by taking a 3-0 lead before the first period was even half over, and unfortunately for STAR, that OHAE pace wouldn’t really fall off. Max Holland (3G, 2A) and Ben Miller (4G, 2A) both pitched in with hat-tricks, and Atticus Armstrong (2G, 5A) posted seven points in an 18-1 OHA Edmonton win, extending the OHAE U15 squad’s winning streak to twelve games.
OHA Edmonton (3) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (5) U18 Prep
OHA Edmonton and Northern Alberta Xtreme’s U18 Prep squads played three previous times this season, with OHAE winning the last two, most recently on January 9, thanks to Cam Hoose’s 27 stops in the 3-1 win. OHAE led 2-0 through one and managed to stretch their lead to 3-1 in the second, but down a pair, NAX started a resurgence that cut out the OHAE lead within minutes. After Teagan Bouchard made it a one-goal game, Wenatchee Wild prospect Kalen Miles scored once to tie and again minutes later to give NAX a 4-3 lead before the conclusion of the second period. Northern Alberta’s third period might have been their best of the game, stifling OHAE and holding them to just eight shots in the process. Matthew Coyle (26/29) made all eight saves asked of him in the third and stopped 18 of 19 in the final forty minutes of play to push his NAX team over the finish line to a 5-3 win.
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (2) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (11) U15
The battle of the RINK Hockey Academy U15 squads looked like a contest of contrasts heading in, with RHAW Winnipeg’s dominance at the top of the U15 standings not likely to be under threat from their organizational opposite. It looked like Kelowna might provide an unexpected upset off the top of the contest, with Sidney Mock (1G, 1A) giving RHAK the first lead of the game. RHAW tied the game at one, but through twenty minutes, the 1-1 score wasn’t something RHAK would be disappointed with. The contests’ closeness wouldn’t last long beyond the first intermission, though, with Jax Fellner (3G) scoring the first of what would eventually be a hat-trick performance just 38 seconds before Ryan Koenig (1G, 1A) gave RHAW their first two-goal lead of the day. Yuto Agapito (2G, 1A), Max Manaigre (2G), and Brantley Church (2G, 2A) pitched in with a pair apiece from there, and RHAW wouldn’t stop their offensive push from the start of the second period onwards. RHAW potted ten in the last two periods to win 11-2.
Edge School (2) vs Notre Dame Hounds (0) U17
Edge School’s U17 squad had a pair of blowout wins over the Northern Alberta Xtreme, interrupted with NAX besting them 2-1 in the second of the three games last weekend, with that loss stifling what would currently be a ten-game winning streak for Edge. They still came in having won nine of their last ten, but through the first 50 minutes of the game, couldn’t get their offensive wheels off the ground. Positive pushback from the Notre Dame Hounds made the task at hand for the Mountaineers a significant challenge, especially taking into account the performance of Hudson Pooler (40/42) in the Hounds’ crease. Pooler, though, couldn’t build a literal brick wall in the net, and Edge School broke through in the third. Curtis Troeger and Brik McCord Cooper scored less than five minutes apart in the back half of the third, and while Edge School found themselves under less defensive stress than their opponents, Mountaineers goaltender Emerson Popil still stopped all 23 shots he faced to earn the shutout win in the 2-0 result.
Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (0) vs Yale Hockey Academy (4) U17 Prep
Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy travel north with both its U17 Prep and U18 Prep squads this weekend, with both teams taking on their opposite numbers from Yale Hockey Academy at the Summit Centre in Abbotsford on Friday. The two games started with the clash of the U17 groups, and the game unfolded in a way you’d expect when involving a Yale squad that had won eight of their previous nine coming in. YHA didn’t give Coeur d’Alene much of a chance to do the offensive damage needed, with the Lions stifling their opposition’s attack consistently, thanks in part to Coby Kidwell (22/22) calmly and reliably manning the YHA crease. Nicholas Voinea (1G, 1A) scored the only goal of the first period, and from there, Matthew Zaitchikov (3G, 1A) took over. His hat-trick now brings his 2026 totals to eight goals and nine assists in ten games since the start of the new year, helping the Lions to the 4-0 win.
Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (2) vs Yale Hockey Academy (4) U18 Prep
The U17 Prep and U18 Prep squads of Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy and Yale Hockey Academy both squared off against one another on Friday. Both the pair of U17 squads and U18 squads will play again on Saturday, an opportunity to bounceback Coeur d’Alene must be hungry for following both teams’ Friday clashes with Yale. In contrast to the U17 Prep squads’ game, CDA spent stretches of the U18 Prep game as the better team, at one point turning the game around to lead. Seth Castronuovo (1G, 1A) scored 44 seconds in to give the Lions a lead, but from there, Coeur d’Alene managed to spin the game in their favour. Sal Costa’s second-period goal had CDA in front for less than three minutes, though, and Tanner Massey scored on the power play to square things up. With less than three-quarters of the tied third-period remaining, Yale took a five-minute major that presented CDA the chance to snatch a late lead. That chance, however, wasn’t taken, and Yale’s successful PK quickly led to another offensive foray that saw the Lions retake the lead, this time through Alex Ostrovskyy’s go-ahead marker. YHA goaltender Jason Ho (31/33) shut the door from there, and Ostrovskyy hit the empty-net for his second of the game to help Yale over the finish line.
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (5) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (1) Female U18 Prep
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna’s group of Female U18 Prep players have been unbeatable in their six games previous against local rivals Okanagan Hockey Academy, winning by a double-digit margin in their most recent game on February 7. Despite the RHAK dominance, OHA took an unexpected lead, scoring on an early powerplay through Audrina Freeman. That lead, however, lasted all of nine seconds. Sienna Dammann scored for the second consecutive game to immediately pull RHAK back to level ground, and while the game would remain at 1-1 for a little longer than 1-0, RHAK didn’t need too much time to establish a lead they wouldn’t surrender. Alida Korte picked up her obligatory goal, now giving the RHAK star 12 goals and 13 assists in 13 games since the beginning of November. Brynn Rice (1G, 1A), Emersyn Allan, and Raeya Mackie also picked up goals for RHAK in what ended as an assured win.
St. George’s School (1) vs Calgary International Hockey Academy (7) U15
St. George’s School and Calgary International Hockey Academy’s U15 squads had only squared off once previous to Friday this season, with the two teams embarking on a thriller at the last U15 showcase in Abbotsford back in November. Alan Qiu scored the overtime winner to lead SGS to the win in that game and would factor in early in this one, providing the primary assist to Asher Jin’s icebreaker. St. George’s led 1-0 for about three minutes, but CIHA’s powerplay eventually broke through with a Kirin Chan goal, squaring things at one. The tying marker provided CIHA with a jumping-off point, and they’d get two more before the first period’s conclusion to establish a comfortable lead. CIHA grabbed seven goals from seven different goal scorers overall, scoring another on the powerplay in the third through Lucas Beaudin, who snapped a rare three-game scoring skid. Jaxon Dalziel (1G, 1A) scored the goal that ended as the game’s winner in CIHA’s mammoth victory over an SGS side that had bested them in their only previous encounter.
Okanagan Hockey Academy (4) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (5) U15
A red-hot start to 2026 for the Northern Alberta Xtreme began to dissipate after NAX had picked up their fourth-straight win, losing three of four since their streak was snapped nearly three weeks prior to their Friday night clash with OHA. It looked like NAX’s game for the first 45 minutes of it. Mason Zimmer (2G) and Kendon Peacock (1G, 1A) did their usual damage en route to NAX, establishing a 4-0 lead with less than 15 minutes to go. The perceived comfort of NAX’s remaining quarter of an hour was quickly dashed by OHA emerging from their hole swinging. Levi Leitner pulled them back into the game before Cruz Rasmussen (2G, 1A) scored on the powerplay to make it 4-2. Zimmer scored again for NAX, but OHA scored two more to send the game into the final 94 seconds at 5-4 Northern Alberta. Jace Hilliard (22/26) had a difficult third period for NAX, but in the dying seconds, Hilliard did enough to prevent OHA from tying the game.
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (7) vs Notre Dame Hounds (2) U18 Prep
The slump-snapping U18 Prep win for the Notre Dame back on January 10th has unfortunately been followed up six losses heading towards this weekend’s Friday night clash with RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg who themselves hit the ground running in the first period. RHAW outshot Notre Dame 15-7 in the first and scored thrice, leading 3-0 through one, and completely did enough from there to shut down their provincial rivals. RHAW’s special teams shone through, grabbing a powerplay goal from Atticus Cruz (1G, 1A) and shorthanded goals from Keegan Bragnalo and Spencer Kuntz (1G, 1A). Notre Dame never really let RHAW off the hook, consistently fighting back, but even as good as the Hounds’ pressure was at times, RHAW’s Ryler Gates stopped 34 of Notre Dame’s 36 shots to lead his team to the win.
Edge School (6) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy (2) U17 Prep
A 3-1 win over South Alberta Hockey Academy’s U17 Prep squad back on January 17 gave Edge School, which came in the midst of their five wins in their last six games. SAHA looked for a bounce-back to win the second of four head-to-head clashes between the two teams this season, with South Alberta hosting Edge School on both Friday and Saturday nights this weekend. The first of two went the way of the Mountaineers, with Luke McGuire (3G) doing the necessary damage needed for Edge School all on his own. Edge School’s McGuire scored a goal in each period for the hat-trick and was aided by three assists apiece from Malcolm McLeod and Kye Taggart, performances aided by Delano Pockar making 32 saves on 34 shots in the Edge School crease.
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (4) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (6) U17
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg and the Northern Alberta Xtreme’s U17 squads play two different sets of a three-game weekend series this season, with NAX’s first three games of the U17 season coming in the form of three games on the road at the RINK Training Centre in Winnipeg. NAX won two of those three games and headed into the second weekend of February hoping to bounce back from losing two of three to Edge School between February 6-8. RHAW jumped to 1-0 and 2-1 leads, but in the second period, NAX’s offence exploded in the second period. It took less than nine minutes for NAX to score five goals, two coming from Reed Fellows (2G, 1A), leading to a sudden 6-2 Northern Alberta lead. RHAW fought back with two in the third, ultimately in vain, with NAX’s second-period dominance leading them to a 6-4 win.
North Shore Warriors (1) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (7) U17
Okanagan Hockey Academy’s U17 team had been hard to beat all season long, with North Shore tested twice by OHA this weekend, playing a rematch on Saturday. The two teams’ first battle on Friday was unfortunately not much of a contest. OHA led 1-0 after a stagnant first period, but come the second, Okanagan’s offence exploded. Three quick goals gave OHA a 4-0 lead, and with that damage done, OHA would twist the knife in the third and score three more. Cohen Short and Nathan Marques scored two goals apiece, with Cole Schellenberg and Dreyden Rayburn providing three assists of their own in a game that saw OHA outshoot North Shore 39-18 and win 7-1.
