GAME DAY RECAP: February 12, 2023

Edge School (1) vs RHA Winnipeg (9) U16 Prep

RHA Winnipeg outshot Edge 54-22 in a 9-1 win Sunday morning. Remy Hlady (2G, 4A) and Connor Bear (2G, 3A) led all skaters with six and five points respectively. Hudson Brehaut (2G, 1A) and Carson Legault (1G, 2A) had three point games in the win. Evan Plewes scored the lone Edge goal. 

Prairie Hockey Academy (2) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (11) U15 Prep

PMHA fired 81 shots at Britton Scharf (70/81) as they defeated PHA 11-2. Liam Chartrand (3G, 2A) recorded a hattrick while Luke Adam (2G, 1A), Forrest Karlson (2G) and Jack Perrier (2G) all scored twice. Carson Carels (4A) had four assists and Dwight Sawatzky (3A) chipped in with three. Boone Bender and Cohen Hayes scored for PHA in the loss. 

International Hockey Academy (12) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (1) U18 Prep

IHA outshot PMHA 72-28 as they skated to a 12-1 victory Sunday morning. Braxton Thornton (4G) scored four times while Gavin Garland (2G, 3A) had five points in the win to top all skaters. Reid Ashcroft (3A) and Justice Loewen (3A) each had three assists while Braeden Veldhuizen (2G, 2A) recorded four points. Justin Shih scored the lone PMHA goal. 

RHA Winnipeg U18 (1) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy U18 (0) Female U18 Prep

Jules Stokes second goal of the season would be the eventual game winner as RHA Winnipeg shutout SAHA 1-0. Katelyn Dorsch (23/23) made 23 saves to record the shutout victory while Devyn Amundson (22/23) let in just one goal in the loss. 

OHA Edmonton (1) vs Notre Dame (9) U16 Prep

Cole Sherstan opened the scoring for OHA Edmonton 1:43 into the game but Notre Dame would go on to score nine unanswered in the win. Koby Bossaer (4G) led the way with four points while Jase McNichol (1G, 2A) and Nick Wytrychowski (1G, 2A) each had three point games. Grady Peterson (24/25) made 24 saves to earn the win. 

RHA Winnipeg (1) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (2) U15 Prep

Maddox Rose (1G, 1A) opened the scoring with just one second remaining to give NAX a 1-0 lead. After a scoreless second Brek Liske (1G, 1A) would score on the power play 5:19 into the third. Koy Funk would score his 19th goal of the season midway through the third but Taylor Raynard (13/14) would shut the door the rest of the way to secure an NAX victory. 

Notre Dame (5) vs OHA Edmonton(3) U17 Prep

Benson Fox (3G) scored twice in the first period as Notre Dame led 2-0 after 20. Max Stanton (1G, 1A) would get OHA Edmonton on the board 1:24 into the second but Fox would complete the hattrick just over a minute later. A short handed Keanan Pearman goal midway through the second would bring OHA Edmonton within one heading into the third. Hunter Yee (1G, 1A) would tie the game on the power play early in the second before Kalan Dickie (1G, 2A) re-gave Notre Dame the lead. Logan Gee (1G, 1A) would add a goal with just two seconds remaining to put the game out of reach. 

Northern Alberta Xtreme (5) vs Notre Dame (3) U18 Prep

Notre Dame would lead 2-0 heading into the second thanks to goals from Nick Karczmiarz (1G, 1A) and Ryan Zabchuk. Landon Hanson (1G, 1A) and Bret Hymers (1G, 1A) would tie the game in the second before Charles Lamoureux (1G, 2A) re-gave Notre Dame the lead. Walker Overwater (2G) would tie the game heading into the final 20 with his ninth goal of the season. Hunter Dingman would give NAX their first lead with 2:03 remaining and an Overwater empty net goal with 14 seconds left secured the NAX win. 

BWC Academy (0) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (3) U16 Prep

Conner Nicolson (20/20) would make 20 saves to earn his third shutout of the season in a 3-0 OHA victory. Neither team could find the back of the net in the first before Tucker Robertson (2G) broke through 2:10 into the second. Simon Cecconi would add another second period goal before Robertson put the game out of reach 4:56 into the third. Noah Sinagowitz (21/24) made 21 stops in the loss. 

Shawnigan Lake School U18 (1) vs RHA Kelowna U18 (2) Female U18 Prep

Callie Rice scored her fifth goal of the season as RHA Kelowna led 1-0 after 20. Emelia McDermid would extend the lead midway through the second with a power play goal. Arnica Bulmer would get Shawnigan on the board with 21 seconds left in the second but they were unable to beat Madison Bowtell (20/21) again to find the tying goal. Lauren Mackay (54/56) made 54 saves in the loss. 

Notre Dame (2) vs Edge School (8) U15 Prep

Zach Olsen (1G, 3A) and Cruz Pavao (3G, 1A) paced the Edge offence with four points each in a 8-2 win Sunday. Owen Cooper (3A) and Nate Yellowaga (3A) would chip in with three points each and Carsten Leyerzapf (7/9) was called on to make just seven saves in the win. Ethan Suhr (40/48) faced 48 shots in the loss. 

Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (2) vs Indigenous Sports Academy (5) U17 Prep

Tayvian Delorme (1G, 2A) would open the scoring for ISA just 59 seconds into the game. Rachlan Hay (2G) would respond for PMHA just two minutes later to tie in but Daine Thomas gave ISA the lead heading into the second. Hay would score 33 seconds into the second as the two teams entered the third tied 2-2. Jaidden Kulynych (1G, 1A) would score midway through the third and Sage Roberts would score three minutes later as ISA jumped out to a 4-2 advantage. Deylan Watson would score with 21 seconds remaining to clinch the ISA victory. 

St. Mary’s Academy U18 (2) vs Edge School U18 (5) Female U18 Prep

Jordan Blouin (2G) and Kate Chuback traded first period goals as the second started with the two teams tied at 1-1. Makayla Watson would score 2:08 into the second before Abby Brigg (1G, 1A) once again tied the game midway through the second. But Jennifer Keller would respond for Edge just minutes later and Jordyn Rivett found the back of the net in the closing minutes of the second. Blouin would add a third period goal to put the game out of striking distance and secure an Edge victory. 

St. George’s School (5) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (1) U15

Aaron Castro would open the scoring midway through the first as St. George’s held onto a 1-0 lead heading into the third. Isgaan Sharma would extend the deficit early in the third before Griffin Hoy got OHA on the scoresheet. But Byron Chin (2G) would respond for St. George’s just 19 seconds later and he would add another goal three minutes later. Josh Gravistin (1G, 2A) would score an empty net goal with 2:38 remaining to clinch the 5-1 St. George’s victory.  

Delta Hockey Academy (4) vs Yale Hockey Academy (9) U18 Prep

Yale scored the game’s first six goals of the game including four in a span of 51 seconds as they defeated Delta 9-4. Ben Kindel (4G, 2A) scored four goals, Evan Smith (2G) and Savin Virk (2G, 1A) each added two, and Shea Busch (3A) and Nolan Viesner (3A) recorded three assists in the win. Malakai Zwiers (44/48) made 44 stops in the win.  

Okanagan Hockey Academy U17 (0) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme U18 (5)Female U18 Prep

Erika Lind (18/18) made 18 saves for her third shutout of the season as NAX defeated OHA U17 5-0. Maria Ayre (1G, 2A) led all skaters with three points and  Molly Hamilton (1G, 1A) and Gracyn MacKay (2A) recorded multi-point games, 

Pilot Mound Hockey Academy U18 (1) vs Delta Hockey Academy U17 (2) Female U18 Prep

Reika Iwami opened the scoring in the second period after a scoreless first. Sofie Thompson would tie the game early in the third but Payton Finnie would respond for Delta 10 minutes later to give them a 2-1 win over PMHA. Alix Walchuk (17/18) and Anika Moroz (35/37) were in net for their respective teams. 

Okanagan Hockey Academy U18 (2/OT) vs Delta Hockey Academy U18 (1) Female U18 Prep

Maisie Cope (14/16) and Farah Walker (19/20) kept the game scoreless heading into the second period. Molly Cole would score her seventh goal of the season midway through the second as Delta led 1-0 after 40. Makena Lloyd-Howe would tie the game on the power play midway through the third and Hanna Perrier would score the overtime winner just 25 seconds into the extra period.
