GAME DAY RECAP: February 12-15, 2024

Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (3) vs North Shore Warriors (2) U17 Prep

A single first period goal by Eli Fareria gave CDA a 1-0 lead after 20. Jackson Rendall extended the lead just 21 seconds into the second with a power play marker. Alen Ryzhkov got North Shore on the board 2:23 later, beating Jr Peebles (39/41) for his third of the season. But Elijah Plunkett scored the eventual game winning goal just 35 seconds later, finding the back of the net for the fourth time this season. Ryzhkov would make things interesting as he brought his team within one midway through the game but they were unable to find an equaliser. Beckham Brossard (35/38) was in net for the loss. 

Okanagan Hockey Academy Black (9) vs Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy Navy (1) U17 Prep

Ben Fragle (3G, 2A) recorded a hat-trick and Landon Nagle (1G, 3A) added three assists as OHA Black defeated CDA Navy 9-1. Keele Deuling (1G, 2A), Marcus Domhof (1G, 2A), Maxx Parfitt (1G, 2A) and William Pattison (2A) all had two assists and Charlie Peppinck (27/28) made 27 saves for the win. Jackson Rendall scored the lone goal for CDA Navy in the loss. 

Okanagan Hockey Academy Black (4) vs Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy Navy (5/OT) U17 Prep

After a scoreless first Eli Fareria opened the scoring for CDA Navy 7:58 into the second. Blake Riley quickly tied the game with Maxx Parfitt (2G, 1A) scoring 16 seconds later, and Aneil Dhesi 2:02 after that. CJ Watson (2G, 1A) halted the OHA Black run with a shorthanded tally, his third goal of the season. Jay Nooney tied the game 13:52 into the final period before Parfitt restored the OHA Black lead. CDA Navy looked like they were headed to another defeat before Watson scored with 46 seconds remaining to tie the game and force OT where Owen Bambrick’s (1G, 2A) 13th of the season gave CDA Navy their first win of the year. 

Okanagan Hockey Academy Black (2) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (3) Female U18 Prep

After a scoreless first Rebecca Macfarlane (1G, 1A) scored her third goal of the season late in the second to give OHA Black a 1-0 lead. Maddy Niesh (1G, 1A) tied the game early in the third and Anna Kapocsi put OHA ahead midway through the final period. Raina Chala tied the game shortly after with a power play goal, her first goal of the season. But Brooklyn Blomquist scored with 17 seconds left as OHA completed the third period comeback for a 3-2 win over OHA Black. Jorja Moore (29/31) and Mya Lesage (35/38) were in net for their respective teams. 

RHA Winnipeg (5) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (4) U17 Prep

Pilot Mound led 3-0 after 20 as defensemen Carson Carels (3G, 1A) and Benson Hirst (1G, 1A) found the back of the net. Carter Haney (1G, 2A) got RHA Winnipeg on the board early in the second and Aiden Jacobson (3G) scored twice in a span of 1:13 to tie the game. Carels closed out the second by completing the hat-trick with a power play goal, restoring the PMHA lead. But RHA Winnipeg scored twice in the final 5:43 as Hayden Shtykalo tied the game and Jacobson completed a hat-trick of his own as RHA Winnipeg came from behind to win 5-4. Peyton Shore (31/35) made 31 saves in net for the win. 

Indigenous Sports Academy (2) vs Notre Dame (5) U17 Prep

Dane Gillis (27/29) and Seth Goodstriker (25/30) kept clean sheets in the first period before Jaiden Kulynych got ISA on the board 10:18 into the second. Ryan Kowalsky (2G) and Reid White (2G) scored 1:04 apart as Notre Dame pulled ahead. Courage Steinhauer-George briefly tied the game before Kowalsky scored the eventual game winner with 37 seconds left in the second. Brodie Steeves and White scored third period goals to put the game out of reach and secure a Notre Dame win. Ryder Gilroy (3A) had three assists for Notre Dame. 

Edge School (3) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (8) U15

NAX outshot Edge 55-26 en route to an 8-3 win Thursday. Easton Arndt (2G), Teagen Bouchard (2G, 1A) and Brady Ondrus (2G) scored twice while Gurshan Singh (4A) and Will Kelts (3A) led NAX in the assist department. Luke Huska (1G, 1A), Jacob Kuntz (1G, 1A) and Easton Perzylo (1G, 2A) scored for Edge in the loss. 

Edge School Maroon (5) vs OHA Edmonton Black (2) U17 Prep

Keegan de Sa (1G, 2A) scored on the power play and Eric Wagman (2G) added a goal 1:12 later as Edge Maroon grabbed a 2-0 first period lead. Noa Halat scored 59 seconds into the second and Jeff Niehaus and Wagman added goals as Edge Maroon held a 5-0 advantage 30:17 into the game. Casen Vadori scored a power play goal minutes later to get OHA Edmonton Black on the board. Logan Penston scored shorthanded for OHA Edmonton Black late in the third but it was a consolation goal in what ended as a 5-2 Edge Maroon win. Brooke Davis (32/34) made 32 saves for her 10th win of the season. 

OHA Edmonton (3) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (5) U15 Prep

Gavin Harrison (2G, 1A) scored his 11th goal of the season as NAX led 1-0 after 20. Walker Filewich tied the game but Memphis Adeniken (1G, 2A) responded for NAX 17 seconds later. A late second period goal by Tyson Chrunik and early third period goal by Liam Reed (1G, 1A) put OHA Edmonton ahead 3-2. Aiden Poulin tied the game with 4:08 left to play, Tyrie Ehrenberg (1G, 1A) scored the go ahead, shorthanded goal 56 seconds later, and Harrison added an empty net goal with 47 seconds left as NAX came from behind in dramatic fashion. 

Delta Hockey Academy Green (11) vs North Shore Warriors (3) U15 Prep

Maxum Pyatt (3G) recorded a hat-trick while Luke Anderson and Ryder Dunn (4A) led the way with four points each as Delta Green defeated North Shore 11-3. Peter Banicevic (1G, 1A), Nash Dickson and Casey Pearson scored for North Shore, who fired 22 shots at Blake Clark (19/22) in the loss. Caden Leibel (2G, 1A) chipped in with two goals for Delta Green. 

Notre Dame Red (3) vs Prairie Hockey Academy Blue (6) U17 Prep

Carson Hiebert found the back of the net for the 10th time this season as Notre Dame Red led after 20. Asher Watson (1G, 2A), Caleb Debruyne (1G, 1A) and Brady Vipond (1G, 1A) countered with second period goals as PHA Blue took control heading into the third. Brodyn Pladson (1G, 1A) scored just nine seconds into the third to bring Notre Dame Red within one before Hubert Larose (1G, 1A) and Riley Robert responded for PHA Blue. Ben Bugeaud (1G, 1A) struck 28 seconds later for Notre Dame Red but it was all for nothing as Cohen Hayes (1G, 1A) put the game to bed with a power play goal. Riley Brown (15/18) faced just 18 shots in net for the win.
