GAME DAY RECAP: December 3, 2022

BWC Academy (0) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (6) U15

Jaggar John had a hat-trick, scoring three goals and adding an assist for a four-point game for Northern Alberta Xtreme. Madden Woo scored his first goal of the season on the powerplay, Thayne Wasyluk scored his sixth goal, while Ivan Wowk tallied his first to round out the scoring. Cam Hoose made 21-saves to record the shutout win for NAX.

North Shore Warriors (0) vs OHA Edmonton (8) U15

Tyson Chrunik scored twice, Ewan Gillis and Nickson Cox had a goal and two assists each, while Nate McDonald had a goal and added a helper. Barrett Fogolin, Noah Stone and Rhys Clayton added solo tallies for OHA Edmonton. Oliver Bryks stopped all 22-shots he faced to record the shutout for OHAE. 

Prairie Hockey Academy (3) vs OHA Edmonton (2) U16 Prep

Asher Watson opened the scoring for Prairie Hockey Academy, Carson Kraft extended the lead with his first goal of the season and Riley Robert scored to make it 3-0 PHA after two periods of play. OHA Edmonton made things interesting late in the third period with goals from Koen Gauthier on the powerplay and Kaden Wilkins following that. Connor Millsap shut the door the rest of the way, making 34-saves to record the decision between the pipes for Prairie Hockey Academy. 

RHA Kelowna (0) vs Yale Hockey Academy (4) U15

Seth Castronuovo  scored two goals in the first period for Yale Hockey Academy, his 14th and 15th of the season. Maxx Trites notched his fourth of the season and Sloan Harder added a shorthanded goal to make it 4-0 for YHA. Aiden Lazazzera stopped all 19-shots he faced to register the shutout.

St. George’s School (1)  vs Delta Hockey Academy (2) U15

Delta Hockey Academy earned their 8th win of the season in a close contest against St. George’s School. Alexander Laing and Kishan Saggu had a goal and an assist each for Delta, while Matthew Wong made 31-saves to record the win between the pipes. Josh Gravistin scored the lone goal for St. George’s school, his first of the season.

CIH Academy U18 (2) vs Bourget College U18 (10) Eastern U18

Bourget College fired 61 shots on the CIH Academy net in the game, hitting double digits on the scoreboard. Santiago Gosselin had a four-point game for Bourget College, with a goal and three assists, Marc-Antione Ropel had three assists, while Gavin McLenaghan had a hat-trick. CIH Academy had goals from Lukas Plank and Iserhoff Wynston, but Bourget goaltender Kristian Lefsrud-Coombs turned aside 30 of 32 shots he faced for the win.

Shawnigan Lake School (5) vs Delta Hockey Academy Black (3) U15 Prep

The game was tied 2-2 after the first period of play. Colby Monette opened the scoring in the first minute for Delta Hockey Academy Black, and Jordan Nguyen extended the lead with his eighth goal of the season. Eli McKamey responded for Shawnigan Lake School with his 14th goal of the season on the powerplay, followed up by a short-handed marker from McCallister Mugford to tie the game. Sullivan Bryan gave Shawnigan Lake the lead in the second period, with a second powerplay goal from McKamey padding the lead. Nguyen would score a short-handed goal to make things close for Delta, but Nigel Alberts scored on the powerplay for Shawnigan Lake School in the third period to put the game out of reach.

Notre Dame (4) vs Edge School (2) U16 Prep

Notre Dame scored three times in the third period to double up Edge School on Saturday. Will St. James scored to give Notre Dame the lead in the first period, but the game was tied heading into the third. Pherson Loehndorf, Liam Tattuinee and Calvin Gustafson all scored for Notre Dame in the final frame to make the difference in the game. Lincoln Martin scored both goals for Edge in the game. 

Okanagan Hockey Academy (4) vs Edge School (7) U15

Mirco Dufour had a big game for Edge School, registering a hat-trick with three goals, while adding an assist in the win. Luke Jamieson and Nathan Cole each had a goal and two assists for Edge, while Kingston Sauter picked up a goal and an assist and Kyle Oakenfold scored a solo tally. Zephyr Harms scored two goals in the game for Okanagan Hockey Academy, both on the powerplay. 

Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (0) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy (15) U18 Prep

South Alberta Hockey Academy sent 64 shots on goal against Pilot Mound Hockey Academy as every skater registered a point in the game. Leading the way, Matthew Paranych had two goals and two assists, Brett Calhoon and Noah Dziver had a goal and three assists, while Gavin McKenna had a hat-trick for SAHA. Owen Petipas picked up the win in net, making 10 saves to record the shutout. 

North Shore Warriors (1) vs St. George’s School (10) U15 Prep

Eli Barrett (3G, 2A) and Harshaan Kaila (1G, 4A) led all skaters with five points in a 10-1 win. Sam Auld (1G, 3A) recorded four points while Brock Cripps (3A) and Kanjyu Gojsic (1G, 2A) each tallied four points. Marcus Voth scored the lone North Shore goal.

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (0) vs Delta Hockey Academy Green (14) U15 Prep

Nathaniel Danielson (2G, 6A), Nickolas Kovich (6A), Ryan Lin (3G, 2A) and Ben Schmidt (4G, 1A) led the offence for Delta Green as they each tallied at least five points in a 14-0 win. Delta Green improved to 9-4-1 with the win. 

Edge School (3) vs OHA Edmonton (1) U17 Prep

Owen Cooper (1G, 1A) and William Paterson scored first period goals for Edge as they held a 2-0 advantage after 20. After a scoreless second, Ben Binder-Nord would find the back of the net early in the third to extend the Edge lead. Hunter Yee would score his 11th goal of the season with 5:19 remaining, ending Jungsoo Park’s (31/32) shutout hopes. Logan Sawatzky (40/43) made 40 saves in the loss.  

Delta Hockey Academy (5) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (1) U16 Prep

Francesco Ruffolo opened the scoring 5:57 in for PCHA but Aidan Ansell responded for Delta 20 seconds later, starting a run of five unanswered goals. Kyle Mayenburg (1G, 1A) and Dalton Toma (2G, 1A) would score in the second, while Toma and Nicholas Campbell added goals late in the third. Shay McViker (16/17) made 16 saves in the win. 

Northern Alberta Xtreme (1) vs Edge School (2) U18 Prep

Bowen Grycan opened the scoring late in the first as NAX held a 1-0 lead after 20. Carter Klippenstein would tie the game on the powerplay late in the second, and Maxim Shushkov would score midway through the third to give Edge the lead, and eventual 2-1 win. Noah Davis (27/28) made 27 saves for the win, while Vaughn Kaliel (36/38) was credited with the loss. 

Notre Dame (6) vs International Hockey Academy (4) U18 Prep

Max Sullivan (3G) scored 38 seconds in and again 5 minutes later as IHA grabbed a 2-0 lead after 20. Ryan Zabchuk (2G) and Ivan Kulagin (1G, 1A) each scored in the second for Notre Dame as the two teams entered the third tied at 2-2. Zabchuk, Rhys Osicki, and Eric Mullen (1G, 2A) would score three straight for Notre Dame to kick-off the third, before Sullivan would bring IHA back within two. However, Alexis Hilaire-Pinot would score just 17 later to give Notre Dame a 6-3 advantage. Arad Badamachi-Zadeh would score a late consolation goal for IHA. 

Yale Hockey Academy (2) vs RHA Kelowna (5) U15 Prep

RHA Kelowna held a 2-0 lead after 20 thanks to goals from Cage Smith (1G, 1A) and Keaton Verhoeff (1G, 2A). Koray Bozkaya and Brayden Ryan-Mackay would even the score in the second, but Brody Gillespie (1G, 1A) would re-give RHA Kelowna the lead late in the period. Theo Salikhov would extend the deficit in the third, and Maddox Gandha (1G, 1A) would score an empty net goal with 13 seconds remaining. Calder Barry (29/31) was in net for RHA Kelowna in the win. 

BWC Academy (4) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (5/OT) U15 Prep

Kai Anderson opened the scoring for BWC Academy but it was OHA who led 2-1 after 20 thanks to goals from Markus Ruck (2G, 2A) and Mathis Preston (3G, 1A). Ty Bonkowski, Javien Mann and Logan Lepinski (1G, 1A) would score three unanswered for BWC Academy in the second before Ruck brought OHA back within one. Preston would score the lone third period goal to tie the game and force OT, before scoring just 24 seconds into the extra frame to complete the hattrick and give OHA the 5-4 win. 

Indigenous Sports Academy (2) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (7) U17 Prep

Jack Smith (2G), Liam Chartrand (2G) and Ryder Stimson (1G, 2A) would give PMHA a 3-0 advantage after 20. ISA would cut into the deficit early in the second with goals from Stajyn Laird and Caige Sarr, but Sam Takahaski (1G, 2A) and Smith would respond for PMHA. Jack Perrier and Chartrand would add third period tallies for Pilot Mound, and Piet Mierau (24/26) would stop 24 shots for the win. 

Delta Hockey Academy (3) vs Shawnigan Lake School (1) U17 Prep

Kris Ramos would score his first of the season and Daegun Chong would score his second as Delta grabbed a 2-0 lead. Easton Sangris would respond late in the second for Shawnigan with his first goal of the 2022/23 campaign. In a continued story of firsts, Nash Holmes would score his first this season as Delta would extend the lead and hold on for a 3-1 win. 

Okanagan Hockey Academy (1) vs BWC Academy (4) U17 Prep

After a scoreless first Brett Peebles scored 47 seconds into the second period. Ashton Beriana (3G) would extend the BWC Academy lead late in the same period. Beriana would score again 1:44 into the first, before David Hoy finally broke through for OHA, beating Nathan Kam (27/28) 5:18 into the third. Beriana would complete the hattrick with an empty net goal with 1:26 left to play. 

Prairie Hockey Academy (3) vs RHA Winnipeg (0) U18 Prep

Liam Ernst (31/31) would make 31 saves to earn his third shutout of the season as Prairie defeated RHA Winnipeg 3-0. Ernst and Burke Hood (32/35) would keep the game in search of its first goal until 2:15 into the second when Austin Wentz found the back of the net. Caleb Lepitre would score midway through the second, and Ian George would add another for Prairie with a little over 10 minutes remaining in the third. 

Shawnigan Lake School (3) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (1) U18 Prep

Bryce Minten (1G, 1A) scored 51 seconds in as Shawnigan gained an early lead. Hunter Sellers would score the lone OHA goal with 18 seconds remaining in the first to tie the game. Conor Ryan (2G) would score the lone second and third period goals as Shawnigan skated to a 3-1 victory. Charles-Edouard Legros (27/28) made 27 saves in the win, while Nathan Preston (25/28) was in net for the loss. 

Delta Hockey Academy (6) vs North Shore Warriors (0) U18 Prep

Chase Harrington (2G, 1A) scored twice, Linden Burrett (2A), Jakob Oreskovic (2A), and Rajun Parmar (2A) each recorded two assists, and Zachary Pantelakis (1G, 1A) tallied a goal and an assist as Delta defeated North Shore 6-0. Noah Stenvig (31/31) made 31 saves for his first shutout of the season. Oliver Read (50/56) made 50 stops in the loss. 

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (0) vs BWC Academy (7) U18 Prep

Aidan Fischer (22/2) made 22 saves as he recorded his second shutout of the 2022/23 season. Seven different skaters found the back of the net for BWC Academy as Quinn Abbott, Adam Boatter, Nate Crema (1G, 1A), Michael Gallant, Koji Gibson, Carter Lundie, and Liam Payne (1G, 1A) all found the back of the net against PCHA. Ty Coupland (2A), Quinten Harvie (2A), and Peyton Mithmuangneau (3A) all recorded multiple assists in the win.
