The Calgary Flames have signed Seattle Thunderbirds forward Lucas Ciona to an NHL Entry Level Contract.
Selected by the Flames in the sixth round, 173rd overall at the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, Ciona currently leads the Thunderbirds with 17 points in 9 Western Hockey League (WHL) games. Now in his fourth WHL season with Seattle, Ciona has recorded 78 points in 141 WHL games after being selected in the second round, 32nd overall at the 2018 WHL Draft.
Prior to his time in the WHL, Ciona spent two seasons in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) with the Northern Alberta Xtreme. The Edmonton, AB product joined NAX in 2017/18, finishing with 48 points in 30 U15 Prep games. The following season he would add 27 points in 29 regular season games, and an additional 8 points in 5 playoff games as he helped the NAX U18 Prep team to their second straight CSSHL U18 Prep League Championship.
