Delta White Student-Athletes Raising Money for Cancer Research

Delta Hockey Academy student-athletes Grayson Sears and Max Fryer have done a lemonade stand with other friends from Peace Arch Elementary in White Rock for three years. The proceeds are always donated to the Terry Fox Run at their school. Every year they collected more than the year prior (over $1500.00 in 3 years)

This year, Max and Grayson decided to continue with the lemonade stand after Grayson’s sister, Caitlyn, was diagnosed with Leukemia. The duo asked Delta White teammate Reidar Stava to help them. This time they involved the community with social media posts and the White Rock RCMP, Surrey Police Service and Surrey Fire Department all came by with lights and sirens and donated. This drew the community out and once Grayson explained why he was passionate about donating money for pediatric research, the community responded with a large amount of money donated in a short four hours.

The boys went to make their donation to BCCHF on their pro-d day October 24th. The foundation gave them a tour of the hospital.  They were able to meet the pet therapy dogs and learn about a variety of different needs the hospital has and a lot of the different services the hospital offers to children in BC and the Yukon. They also learned about volunteer opportunities for teenagers locally through BCCHF including the RBC Race for the Kids 2025 | Vancouver, British Columbia | The Running Directory Canada which I am sure they will all be volunteering at in June 2026!
