CSSHL Welcomes Rothesay Netherwood School

The Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) has announced that its Governors have granted approval for Rothesay Netherwood School (RNS) to operate as a new member program in the 2025-26 season.

The addition of Rothesay Netherwood School brings the league to a total of 38 member programs and 130 teams across Canada and the USA.

“We are pleased to join the CSSHL for the 2025/26 hockey season and to help grow the CSSHL brand in Eastern Canada,” said Jeff Lewis, RNS Director of Hockey Operations, Head Coach Boys Prep Hockey, and Assistant Athletic Director. “RNS has maintained relationships with several CSSHL member schools for the past 12 years, making our participation in this league a logical transition. We look forward to competing against other top U18 Prep programs in Eastern Canada while continuing to provide our student-athletes with exposure to CHL and CJHL leagues.”

Rothesay Netherwood School is a co-ed boarding and day school for Grades 6 to 12 located in Rothesay, NB.

Although hockey has been a part of the RNS experience since the school was founded in 1877, it was in 2007/2008, after winning back-to-back NBIAA Championships, that the RNS Riverhawks made a full commitment to establish a Prep Hockey program and compete against other North American Prep Schools and U18AAA programs. In 2016/2017, RNS won the PSHF League. In 2018, the team joined the MPHL, winning championships in that league in 2023 and 2025.

“The CSSHL is excited to add Rothesay Netherwood School as we continue to expand and grow our league across North America,” said CSSHL COO Kevin Goodwin. “The long-standing history of this academic institution and its commitment to education aligns with our mission statement to be National leaders in education-based hockey.”

The new addition brings the Eastern Division to a total of 23 teams and 15 member programs.
