The Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) Annual General Meeting took place in Montreal, QC May 31-June 2, 2022.
Representatives from all 26 CSSHL member programs, including the recently added Indigenous Sports Academy, gathered for three days to discuss a number of topics regarding the upcoming 2022/23 season.
Day one saw full membership approval granted to RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna, South Alberta Hockey Academy, and West Van Academy, along with the approval of budgets and several bylaws, policies or procedures.
Following a West Division specific meeting on the second day, the entire league reconvened in the afternoon, renewing agreements with InStat, HONE Athletics, and the Aimability Education Series.
Andy Oakes (Chairperson), Ryan Cyr (Treasurer), and Ian Gallagher (Director at Large West) were all re-elected for two more years to the CSSHL Executive Committee. They will join Jason Stewart (Vice-Chairperson), Jason Kerswill (Secretary), and Andre Savage (Governor at Large East).
The last day was spent scheduling ‘Ranked’ and regional showcase dates and locations, as well as completing flex game schedules at all divisions.
The Eastern Division will see teams playing 18 regular season games, including 5 showcases with the first one taking place in Cornwall, ON September 30 – October 2, 2022.
The new updated Western divisional structure will see a decrease in regional area flex games, and an increase in Ranked Showcases. These Ranked Showcases will provide all teams, at all divisions, the opportunity to play competitive ‘like-on-like’ competition, allowing our student-athletes the opportunity to develop and grow against equal talent.
The first Ranked Showcase of the 2022/23 season will see teams ranked based on their 2021/22 playoff results. All future showcases rankings will then be determined based on the results of the previous showcase. At the conclusion of each showcase, teams will be re-seeded, with teams moving up or down a ‘bracket’, based on their results within the showcase.
The 2022/23 Western Division season will start the weekend of September 23, 2022.
