Campbell added to OHA coaching staff

Okanagan Hockey Group (OHG) Vice-President Dixon Ward announced today that Jessica Campbell has been named an Assistant Coach with the Female Prep team and a Skating and Development Coach at the Okanagan Hockey Academy (OHA) in Penticton.

Campbell, 26, is a former Canadian National Team member having won a silver medal at the 2015 IIHF Women’s World Hockey Championship in Sweden. She twice represented Canada at the Women’s World Under-18 Championship, winning a silver medal in 2009 and a gold medal in 2010, where she was also named the tournament MVP.

“Having Jessica join our coaching staff strengthens our overall program on the female side,” said Ward. “She brings a wealth of playing experience having played on the international, professional and collegiate stage and she possesses strong leadership skills, which is evident by her being named team captain at the National Team and NCAA levels.”

The Rocanville, Sask. product was a student athlete at Cornell University from 2010-2014 where she recorded 100 points (46-54-100) in 131 games. After graduating with a 3.83 GPA and a Bachelor of Science, Campbell turned pro and played three seasons in the CWHL with the Calgary Inferno, winning the Clarkson Cup in 2016, while also being named the 2017 CWHL Humanitarian of the Year.

“I am excited to join OHA to share my passion for power skating, knowledge as a coach and playing experiences in the game,” said Campbell. “I am eager to step into a development role to teach, mentor and support all the student-athletes as they aspire for greatness both on and off the ice. I am grateful for this new chapter and looking forward to helping OHA help their student athletes reach new heights in life, school and hockey.”
