BWC alum Welsh commits to Long Island University

Former Canadian Sport School Hockey League student athlete Nolan Welsh has committed to attend and place NCAA hockey at Long Island University.

Welsh, 20, attended the BWC Academy from 2014 to 2016, where he competed on their U16 Prep and U18 Prep team.

During the 2015-16 season, the Burnaby, B.C. product recorded 34 points (15-19-34) in 36 games at the U18 Prep level, while also adding nine points (3-6-9) in three post-season contests. The previous season, Welsh tallied 28 points (9-19-28) in 30 games in the U16 Prep Division.

The 5-foot-10 forward has spent the past four seasons in the BCHL with the Prince George Spruce Kings and Victoria Grizzlies. In 199 career BCHL games, Welsh registered 83 points (22-61-83). He was a member of the 2019 BCHL championship Spruce Kings squad.

Long Island University is the newest NCAA Division I program and will begin play in 2020-21.
