BWC Academy Capture First U18 Prep Western Championship

BWC Academy captured their first Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) U18 Prep Western Championship .

After finishing in third place during the regular season, BWC Academy would square off with second place Edge School.

Nico Grabas (1G,2A) would open the scoring just 45 seconds into the game to give BWC Academy the early advantage. Cameron Sytsma would add to this lead 4:04 into the first, but Carter Oakenfold would score just 24 seconds later to cut the lead to 2-1.

BWC Academy would quickly strike back, getting goals from Ryden Evers and Diego Buttazzoni (1G,1A) less that two minutes apart.

Down 4-1 after 20, Edge School would strike first in the second when Keifer Miller beat Charlie Tritt (30/33) 31 seconds into the middle frame. But BWC Academy would once again have a response as Carson Wetsch would slam one home past Noah Davis (17/22) to give his team a 5-2 lead heading into the final frame.

Down three and with time running out, Edge School pulled their goalie with five minutes remaining. Luca Primerano (1G,2A) would send home an empty netter to give BWC Academy a comfortable 6-2 lead with 3:36 remaining in the game, but an Ayden Peters goal with 2:20 left would put BWC Academy back on their heels for the final minutes. A solid defensive effort in the final moments would see BWC Academy crowned as champions, defeating Edge School 6-3.
