Blazers sign West Van student athlete Minten

The Kamloops Blazers have signed Canadian Sport School Hockey League student athlete Fraser Minten to a Western Hockey League Standard Player Agreement.

Minten, 15, has attended the West Van Academy the past three seasons and currently is playing on their Midget Prep team, where he has netted 39 points (24-25-39) in 23 games this season.

The Vancouver, BC product recorded 65 points (15-50-65) in 29 games with the West Van Academy Bantam Prep team during the 2018-19 season, along with four points (3-1-4) in four games at the 2019 BDO CSSHL Championships. Minten also appeared in six Elite 15 Division games last season, adding four goals and one assist.

“The experiences I’ve had in Kamloops have been incredible and joining the Blazers seems like the best decision for me,” said Minten. “It’s a world class hockey club, from the organization, to the staff, to the facilities and the way the players handle themselves. I’m looking forward to pursuing my hockey dreams in Kamloops.”

The Blazers selected the six-foot forward in the fourth round, 72nd overall, at the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft.

Minten appeared in 26 games with the West Van Academy Bantam Varsity team during the 2017-18 season, collecting 38 points (9-29-38), while adding five points (1-4-5) in four games at the 2018 BDO CSSHL Championships.
