Banff names Vossen Head Coach of Midget Prep

The Banff Hockey Academy is thrilled to announce that Evan Vossen has been appointed the new Head Coach for the Midget Prep team.

Evan is a McGill University graduate having played five seasons while earning a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Industrial Relations.

Evan captained the McGill Redmen in his final two seasons and led the Redmen to a National Championship in 2012. Following his university career, Evan played three years of professional hockey in the ECHL and CHL.

Evan followed his playing career with coaching the LaRonge Ice Wolves in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League for the past three years.

Evan brings a wealth of experience mixing school and hockey while playing at one of the premiere universities in the world.  When asked about his new position, Evan commented:

“It is with great enthusiasm that I join the coaching team at the Banff Hockey Academy.  As the Head Coach of the Midget Prep Team, I am honored to be a part of a strong and established hockey program, as well as work with young men aspiring to advance to the next level. As a graduate of McGill University, I experienced the student-athlete life at the highest level, and understand the responsibility that comes with it.

Winning the CIS National Championship remains a pivotal moment in my hockey life. Returning to the championship game after losing the year prior took hard work, resilience and determination. As Team Captain of the McGill University men’s team, I developed leadership qualities while promoting a culture of success and camaraderie among my teammates. The mindset and work ethic required to achieve these goals resonates in my coaching philosophy today. “

Evan comes to Banff Hockey Academy with his wife Rachel and their 5 month old daughter, Alexis.
