GAME DAY RECAP: October 4, 2025

Ontario Hockey Academy Mavericks (2) vs King’s Edgehill School (1) East U18 Prep

The Ontario Hockey Academy Mavericks’ first weekend of the season is already two-thirds done, and if you told them they’d have split their first two games, it wouldn’t be bad news. The Friday loss to Fairmont Hockey in the review view mirror as they prepare to face King’s Edgehill School, who, after having won two of their first three games, have dropped three straight coming into Saturday. The two teams played a razor-thin game, especially through forty minutes. Deep into the third period, Quinton Kakabat scored for OHAM on the powerplay, with Liam Boone quickly tying the game for KES. With the game pushing into the final third, there remained nothing to separate the two sides. Manuel Beaudoin popped up with his first career CSSHL goal, giving the Mavericks the lead with less than seven minutes to go. Adam Voracek remained extremely busy for OHAM, making 38 saves on 39 shots, including 14 in the third period alone, to help lead the Mavericks to a 2-1 victory.

Mount Academy (1) vs Lower Canada College (12) East U17 Prep

Lower Canada College’s domination of their Saturday matchup with Mount Academy was evident just by observing the slanted shots on goal numbers. Through sixty minutes of play, LCC peppered the Mount net with just one shy of 80 shots, while conversely, Mount couldn’t even reach 20. LCC scored five in the first period alone, and ultimately gave Mount no chance to build anything in this contest. Massive contributions from the hat-trick hero Mario Lapenna (3G, 3A), Alex Gervasi (2G, 4A), and Harry Miller (2G, 2A) led the offensive explosion, and by the time forty minutes had come and gone, expecting any more of the game to be a contest was futile. LCC ended up winning 12-1, giving their skaters a total of 29 points combined.

Okanagan Hockey Ontario (4) vs Stanstead College (9) East U17 Prep

A Lower Canada College squad who have looked red-hot to start rolled through Stanstead College 7-3 on Friday, with Stanstead playing Okanagan Hockey Ontario in search of a bounce-back on Saturday. While Stanstead’s U17 Prep squad hadn’t started their season until this weekend, OHO had five games under their belt heading into Saturday, winning three and dropping two in September. Both of the first two periods were played in razor-tight fashion; A total of six Stanstead penalties in the first two periods alone presented OHO with numerous power-play opportunities, but at 5 on 5, Stanstead made the easy breakthrough. Shane-Alexandre Dubé (4G) scored twice in the first two periods, and while Thomas Garland mustered a response in the form of a power-play goal for OHO, the game headed into the third period with Stanstead ahead by 2. Stanstead fired 29 shots on goal through forty minutes, but in the final twenty, they hit the OHO net with a staggering 27. Dubé scored twice more in the third, helping bring Caleb Ivers and Vincent Chevrier to three assists each on the night. In the span of less than 74 seconds in the third, Stanstead scored four, and although OHO did get strong performances from players like Easton Choffe (2G, 1A), the overwhelming amount of offence coming from Stanstead nullified any pushback OHO could muster.

Edge School (1) vs Calgary International Hockey Academy (6) U18 Prep

Edge School’s U18 Prep squad had about as opposite a start to their season as they would have preferred. Both Edge and the Calgary International Hockey Academy kicked off the U18 Prep seasons on Saturday, and from the drop of the puck, one team was significantly more ready than the other. An early first-period goal turned into a two-goal lead for CIHA, and for Edge, the first period couldn’t end early enough. All in all, huge offensive performances from Calum Giese (2G, 1A), James Matheos (1G, 1A), and Marcus Vo (1G, 1A) led CIHA into the first intermission with a 5-0 lead. After having been rolled over in the first period, Edge School’s U18 Prep team came out of the gates incredibly determined to mount a pushback. They played an excellent second period, outshooting CIHA 18-4, but all in all, a five-goal deficit is going to be an impossible mountain to climb. Grayson Bauer managed to score one in the second period for Edge, but it was nullified in the third through an Aedan McCarry (1G, 1A) goal for CIHA. While the 6-1 scoreline suggests a blowout, Edge School outplayed CIHA after the first period. Braxton Gibson in the CIHA net had to make 42 saves on the 43 shots he faced, a performance worthy of a victory of any kind.

RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (6) vs Edge School (2) Female U18 Prep

RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna’s start has been good, allowing merely two goals in two victories to start their season. Edge School’s Female U18 Prep team are already on their third game of the weekend, having triumphed over hosts Shawnigan Lake in overtime and Thursday and being blanked by DHA Green on Friday. With two strong squads, it was the star power of RHA Kelowna that shone through this game. Their usual suspects provided consistent offensive pressure throughout, with Kennedy Sisson (2G, 1A), Hayley McDonald (2G, 2A), and Jillian McLaughlin (1G, 2A) continuing what’s been red-hot seasons for all three of them. For Edge, Abigail Lee has been one of their most consistent players to this point of the season, but her goal and assist couldn’t help bring her squad close to the dominant RHA Kelowna performance. Both teams play once more tomorrow to wrap up their weekend showcase.

Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (5) vs Notre Dame Hounds (2) U18 Prep

Getting shut out in the first game of the season is never preferable; you go into your second game of the season not only in search of your first win, but also your first goal. PMHA lost 6-0 Friday night against Prairie Hockey Academy, while the Notre Dame Hounds’ season opener brought them PMHA on Saturday. Notre Dame played very, very well throughout, pushing PMHA’s defences to the brink. Ultimately, however, it wasn’t necessarily PMHA to find the offensive response, but Knox Burton specifically. Burtons cored twice to give PMHA the lead early in the second, but Henrik Holt and Bende Szongoth scored to tie things up for Notre Dame. However, the response came from a similar source to the crippling blows delivered by Pilot Mound earlier on. Knox Burton not only completed his hat-trick, but went further, scoring his fourth goal in the third period to extend the lead to 4-2. PMHA added a fifth, winning 5-2, led by Burton’s four goals and goaltender Adam Courchesne’s 31 saves on 33 shots.

Fort Erie International Academy (1) vs Bishop’s College School (9) East U17 Prep

Fort Erie International Academy won their first two games in the Eastern U17 Prep division, defeating Okanagan Hockey Ontario twice, before following it up with a Friday night loss, blanked 3-0 by Mount Academy. Bishop’s College School had played once thus far, shutting out Ontario Hockey Academy 2-0 in game one. After twenty minutes, the game remained tied, but come the second period, Bishop’s College blew the game open. A 4-1 lead through two periods proved to be only the beginning of Bishop’s offensive domination, with five third-period goals eventually giving Bishop’s a 9-1 victory. Grady Cohen (2G, 1A), Dominik Bickos (1G, 2A), Jan Hanzlik (1G, 1A), and Thomas Roy (1G, 1A) led the way with big performances, and despite the lopsided margin of victory, Jayden Perron still stood tall with 25 saves in the BCS net.

Delta Hockey Academy Black (5) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (2) Female U18 Prep

Delta Hockey Academy Black’s Female U18 Prep team had a red-hot start to the season, but their two September wins only predated Friday night’s 6-2 loss against Balmoral Hall. Pilot Mound, likewise, found themselves on the wrong side of a Balmoral Hall defeat, and thanks to Friday’s loss at the hands of OHA Black, they came into Saturday’s game without anything in the win column. DHA Black controlled the bulk of the game and generated significantly more offence, but at every turn in the early stages, PMHA had an answer for everything. Lucy Williams scored for Delta, while Bella Ferguson tied it for PMHA; Kinleigh Blane gave Delta the lead, but Rory Perrin (1G, 1A) tied things up again. The turning point in the game came just shy of the halfway point of the second, with PMHA on the power play, pushing for the opportunity to take their first lead of the game. However, it wasn’t Pilot Mound, but DHA Black who struck on the special teams opportunity. Lucy Williams’ second goal of the game, short-handed, gave Delta the lead, and as is often the case after surrendering a goal shorthanded, PMHA had any momentum sucked out of them. Williams would score again to complete her hat-trick early in the third period, and with Nevaeh Brankovic extending the lead further, Delta Black secured a 5-2 win.

Bishop’s College School (7) vs Okanagan Hockey Ontario (0) East U18 Prep

Pierre-Elie Biley (56/63) would stand on his head in the opening frame of Saturday’s Featured Game, making 19-saves in the first alone to keep OHO alive early. However, the offensive firepower of Bishop’s College would come to life in the second, scoring five times. Jan Vladar (2G, 1A) would open the scoring with a booming wrister down the right hand side. Zach Jockers would later net his first of the season on a breakaway before Taitt Dobbin (1G, 1A) scored shorthanded. Masanori Black labeled one for the back of the net on the powerplay off a sweet dish from Vladar. Maddox Sebastian would close the second off with his first goal of the campaign. In the third, Dominic Schnarr and Vladar would add another pair to Bishop’s tally, cementing a 7-0 victory. Egor Oganesyan (19/19) recorded his second shutout of the season, his first with Bishop’s U18 Prep squad.

Indigenous Sports Academy (2) vs Calgary International Hockey Academy (12) U17 Prep

Indigenous Sports Academy’s U17 Prep season started in difficult fashion, dropping their first contest of the season 6-0 against Edge School on Friday. Calgary International Hockey Academy hadn’t yet started their U17 Prep season to date, with ISA their first opponent thus far. ISA kept the scoreline respectable early, escaping the first period down 3-1 despite being outshot 26-8. Staying in the game didn’t last very long for ISA, unfortunately, as the second period came, and CIHA blew the floodgates open. They scored five in the second period and four more in the third, and while ISA forced one goal into the back of the net in the process, CIHA prevailed 12-2. Among CIHA’s top performers were Max Mullen, who scored a hat-trick, and Ryder Young, who scored two goals and two assists in the game. In fact, only one skater for CIHA was held without a point in their big victory.

South Alberta Hockey Academy (4) vs OHA Edmonton (2) U18 Prep

An overtime heartbreaker Friday night for OHA Edmonton’s U18 Prep team only had one consolation; they’d have the opportunity for revenge on Saturday. OHAE led through the first twenty minutes of the game, with Brayden Tucker (1G, 1A) setting up Michael Kaplan on the power play to give OHAE the 2-1 lead through one. SAHA, however, took the game over from there. They outshot OHAE 16-9 in the second and 23-11 in the third, rallying from a goal down in the last half of the game. Karter Kurpjuweit’s second of the game tied it, with Kutcher Aquila and Brennan Finke following suit for SAHA. After what’s now been back-to-back hard losses, Calgary International Hockey Academy lies in wait for OHAE’s U18 Prep squad on Sunday.

Okanagan Hockey Academy (2) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (4) Female U18 Prep

RHA Winnipeg took on the tall task of taking on the hosts of the Female U18 Prep showcase in their opening game, but it was a task they’d handle nicely, winning 5-2. Okanagan Hockey Academy, yet to earn a victory on the season, put up a valiant effort, but ultimately went behind early without much of a chance at coming back. RHAW scored three in the first and led by four through two, with the superstars on their team ultimately making the difference in this game. Rowyn Street scored two goals and two assists, and three points each coming from Ava Hrubeniuk (2G, 1A) and Sydney Stibbard (1G, 2A), helping RHA Winnipeg to their fourth straight victory to start the season.

Edge School (1) vs Notre Dame Hounds (4) U17

Edge School’s red-hot start to the U17 season saw them mow over OHA Edmonton and Prairie Hockey Academy heading into Saturday, while Notre Dame came in having yet to get their season underway. Notre Dame and Edge played a mostly scoreless first period, but in the span of 90 seconds at the end of the period, the Hounds woulda drive. After Peter Forbes (1G, 1A) and Paul Abrametz (1G, 1A) scored quick-fire goals, Abrametz’s coming shorthanded, Notre Dame wouldn’t let the lead slip. Edge got a goal back shorthanded, but down by one was the closest Notre Dame would let their opponents get back. Lukas Lundgren and Gento Ishiyama (1G, 1A) scored to seal the deal for the Hounds, further made possible by Hudson Pooler. Pooler made 33 saves on 34 shots, surrendering only a second-period shorthanded goal to Curtis Troeger, helping Notre Dame to the 4-1 win.

Ulysse Academie (12) vs Mount Academy (1) East U18 Prep

After a big loss to Stanstead College in their season opener, Ulysse Academie’s U18 Prep team bounced back with 5-2 and 5-3 wins over Ontario Hockey Academy. Four games into Mount Academy’s season, they were still in search of their first victory, and unfortunately for them, early indications were that their winless streak would continue. Ulysse scored five in the first period alone, ostensibly putting the game out of Mount Academy’s reach within the first 20 minutes. Ulysse got huge performances from a handful of their top players, including two goals apiece from Justin Belanger, Nicolas Dube, Jordan Rancourt, and Vincent Gosselin (2G, 2A), as well as four points from Xavier Dechesneau (1G, 3A) led Ulysse to what ended up being an emphatic 12-1 victory.

Delta Hockey Academy Green (6) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy (1) Female U18 Prep

Delta Hockey Academy Green have started their Female U18 Prep season nearly as perfectly as they could have, with three wins over four games, all coming in dominant fashion. South Alberta Hockey Academy had played two razor-thin games going into Saturday’s clash with DHA Green, having triumphed over Balmoral in a shootout before falling 4-2 at the hands of RHA Kelowna on Friday. Unfortunately for SAHA, the momentum-fuelled train that is currently DHA Green gave SAHA no chance. Another big night from Adie Schneider (2G, 1A) and Gabriella Lee (3A) led the way for DHAG, and while the 6-1 scoreline would suggest a blowout, Delta’s goaltender remained busy, with Ella Dunham-Fox making 29 saves on 30 shots for the victory.

Ontario Hockey Academy (5) vs Fort Erie International Academy (2) East U18 Prep

There was a crystal clear swing in momentum in this hockey game. Fort Erie International Academy, in the first half of the game, outduelled Ontario Hockey Academy. They had more chances and led 2-1 through Christophe Gagne’s goal and assist. However, the real swing in momentum came while FEI still remained in the lead. Up by a goal late in the first, Fort Erie had puck possession in the defensive zone, with a delayed penalty being called against OHA. However, disaster struck for Fort Erie, as instead of looking ahead to their impending power play, the entire team had to turn around and watch as an errant backwards pass from the FEI defenceman in the neutral zone glided all the way into the now-vacated Fort Erie net. FEI even managed to re-take their lead, but ultimately, the mistake had kept OHA in the game and kept the life in their legs. Jordan King, Mathis-Cael Aurelius, and two third-period goals from Nathaniel Noah (2G, 1A) helped OHA turn around the deficit, eventually adding four of their goals to the self-inflicted one with which they’d been credited, and won the game 5-2.

Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (0) vs Calgary International Hockey Academy (11) U15 Prep

Calgary International Hockey Academy proved one thing and left another unanswered in their three September games; they could score, but could they keep the puck out of their own net? They’d scored 19 goals through three games, but lost all three, 9-7 to Edge School, before 8-6 and 7-6 against OHA Edmonton. This made the task come Saturday clear; put the puck in the back of the net without paying the price of defensive deficiencies. Unfortunately for Pilot Mound, their U15 Prep team only played three games in September, losing big in all three, and conceding 26 goals in the process. PMHA looked to tighten up defensively, while CIHA looked to keep their defensive-zone game tight and still score goals. One team achieved their desired task, with things for CIHA going near-perfect to what the plans would have been. CIHA scored three in the first, four in the second, and four in the third, posting eleven goals. The best part from Calgary’s perspective, though? They did it without allowing PMHA to score once, with Alexandre Montembeault’s 20 saves enough for the shutout. CIHA got three-point nights out of George Matheos (2G, 1A), Kai Dingwall (2G, 1A), Ryder Lefaivre (1G, 3A), and Hansoul Kim (1G, 2A) to help them to their first win of the season.

OHA Edmonton (7) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (8/OT) U15 Prep

Even the most outlandish predictions for OHA Edmonton and Northern Alberta Xtreme’s U15 Prep game on Saturday night game on Saturday night couldn’t have possibly overestimated the amount of offence that was on display. The six goals in the first period alone proved that, with three OHA Edmonton goals responded to in kind by three straight NAX goals. In fact, the entire game was one team’s performance mirroring another; OHAE led 3-0 before NAX tied it 3-3. NAX outscored OHAE 3-1 in the second to take a 6-4 lead into the third, but, wouldn’t you know it! OHA Edmonton outscored NAX 3-1 in the third to force overtime. Someone needed to be the hero, and the hero came from Northern Alberta. Liam Bordt had scored two goals in the second period, and 56 seconds into overtime, he won it for NAX, giving them the victory in an 8-7 overtime thriller by completing his hat-trick.

Edge School (5/OT) vs OHA Edmonton (4) U17 Prep

Edge School’s U17 Prep team started their year in a positive way on Friday, winning 6-0 against Indigenous Hockey Academy in preparation for OHA Edmonton. OHA Edmonton’s game Saturday was their first all year, and as is the case often with young teams with limited experience playing together, sporadic and unpredictable. After a near-scoreless first period, Ryder Johnson gave Edge the lead with merely two seconds to go in the first, and from there, a wild second period commenced. OHA Edmonton and Edge School traded goals back and forth, and by the time the second intermission came around, the game was tied 4-4, with neither team at any point in the game able to string together back-to-back goals without their opponent finding a response. An intense yet ultimately scoreless third period came and went, with the game appropriately heading to overtime to decide things. OHA Edmonton forced Delano Pockar to make two stops in overtime, and with his team going back the other way, it was his last two of the game. Malcolm McLeod fed Jacob Kuntz (1G, 1A), who made no mistake on the finish, winning a thriller 5-4 in overtime for Edge School.

Shawnigan Lake School (6) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (8) U17 Prep

Imagine a see-saw if a see-saw did more damage every time it went up and down. Shawnigan Lake School and RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna’s game was back-and-forth, but not in a manner that saw the two teams trade individual goals; rather, both teams traded clumps of offensive domination. Shawnigan led 4-0 into the second period, making good of their long spell of momentum, but from there, RHA Kelowna grabbed the torch. Much in the same way that SLS filled the net with goals while they had the wind in their sails, RHA Kelowna scored five in an 11-minute span in the second period, to suddenly lead through two periods after having previously trailed by four. Shawnigan managed to tie the game twice in the third period, but Mason Alexander’s go-ahead goal to give RHA Kelowna a 7-6 lead was the one Shawnigan couldn’t come back from. RHAK added another goal late for good measure, prevailing 8-6 in a game they once trailed by four.

Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (0) vs Prairie Hockey Academy (5) U17 Prep

Prairie Hockey Academy continues to strike hot in the U17 Prep division with their bountiful offence. Kohen Peers (2G) got the game started after Luke Ratzlaff (31/31) made a splits save at the other end of the ice. Peers buried his second of the game off a tic-tac-toe play to put Prairie up by two while Nixon Friesen  buried one in front off a spin pass from Bryden Wagner . Come the third, Prairie would keep pouring on the offense. Jacob Glen would make no mistake on a breakaway, placing one perfectly over the glove of Yuki Kido (43/48) shorthanded. Owen Grassick (1G, 2A) would polish off the game with a gorgeous shot to cement this one at 5-0. Ratzlaff made 31-saves for his second shutout of the season, remaining perfect in the two games he’s played so far this year.

Okanagan Hockey Academy Black (0) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (6) Female U18 Prep

The Northern Alberta Xtreme were able to find their groove offensively against OHA Black, racking up six goals through sixty minutes of play. Addison Cunningham (2G, 1A) led the charge with two goals and an assist, including the GWG in the first. Christina Terzariol (1G, 1A) scored on a magnificent move to her backhand to open the scoring in the third while Sabrina Di Fonzo scored from her stomach on a second effort in tight. Hannah Pope (17/17) registered the shutout for NAX, helping them clinch their first win of the season.

Okanagan Hockey Academy (4) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (3) U15 Prep

Will Tidsbury’s stick remains hot this season, picking up his sixth in the midst of opening the scoring for RHA Kelowna. RINK nearly brought that lead into the intermission but a late snipe from Levi Thiessen knotted this game up at 1-1 before the ice clean. Parks Orton would restore RHA Kelowna’s lead early in the middle frame but once again a quick response from OHA would tie this back up thanks to a shorthanded strike from Jace Williams. OHA would go on to take the lead after 2012-born forward Mason Leibel netted his third of the campaign. Ben Tyssen would rally back for RHA Kelowna in the final minutes of the period but another late tally from OHA would restore their newfound lead. Rhys Parker would make a dash up the ice before being slipped a pass from Landon Ruck (2A). Parker made a strong move to his forehand before sliding home the eventual game winner. Oakley Speckman (35/38) would stop all 17-shots against in the third period, backing OHA to their third win of the season.

CIH Academy (1) vs Kuper Academy (10) East U17 Prep

Kuper Academy continues to make the scorekeeper’s lives difficult as they popped off for another double-digit goal scoring effort over CIH Academy. Defenseman Michael Raposo (3G, 1A) would lead the charge with a hat-trick from the blueline while Gianfranco Capparrelli (2G, 1A) also netted himself a pair. Thomas Issa (1G, 1A) scored his 10th of the season off a strong individual effort. James Barker (20/21) picked up the win in goal as Kuper Academy improves to 5-0-0-0 on the season.

Calgary International Hockey Academy (6) vs Notre Dame Hounds (1) U15

A four goal first from Calgary IHA paved the way for an eventual 6-1 victory over Notre Dame. Gavin Worobey’s (1G, 1A) powerplay marker would etch itself as the game winner while Ryder Davis supplied the insurance later in the frame. Philo Armstrong would score the lone goal for the Hounds on an in tight snipe in the second. Mason Filipchuk (12/13) provided 12-saves in the win while Sammy Brushett (49/55) made 49-saves in the loss.

Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (5) vs Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy (1) U17 Prep

Camden Masterson would spot Gavin Memmot for the one-timer to give CDA the lead through the opening twenty. CDA would continue their offensive streak in the second as Preston Dalebout (2G) netted a pair and Mattox McCauley found twine. Landon Ostrander would break CDA’s shutout hopes but Eli Bonilla would put away a wrister after dancing by a Wenatchee defender to restore their four goal lead. Liam Rogers (29/30) picked up the win between the pipes, making 29-saves in the process.

North Shore Warriors (3) vs Balmoral Hall School (6) Female U18 Prep

Balmoral Hall’s offence continues to click as it struck for three in the first period alone. The deadly duo of Payton Henwood and Kate Chuback (2G) netted the opening pair while Matylda Stepien netted her third of the campaign on a solo effort. Brannagh Rae would score on the powerplay to open the scoring in the second for Balmoral but North Shore’s Chloe Burgher would secure her own on the man advantage to put the Warriors on the scoresheet. Chuback would rip home her second of the night before the end of the frame to restore Balmoral’s four goal lead. North Shore’s powerplay was consistent entering the third, scoring back-to-back to bring this game back to within two. Elise Miller (1G, 2A) and Castilla Rubin would be the beneficiaries on the powerplays. North Shore would continue to press but a late EN from Reika Iwami put this game to bed. Mimi Ferreira (18/21) was in goal for Balmoral, recording her third win of the 2025/26 season.

Fairmont Hockey (0) vs Stanstead College (4) East U18 Prep

In a heavyweight showdown, Stanstead would reign supreme with a tremendous effort in each zone. Finnish forward Juuso Mustonen would open the scoring only 69-seconds into play, capturing his fourth of the year. Cory Logan and Matej Doboš would score a pair late in the frame, further extending Stanstead’s lead. Fairmont would see their fair share of chances and powerplays in the second, but the only goal to come out of the period was shorthanded by Stanstead. Tanner Hayden would polish off a sweet tic-tac-toe play with Dimitri Pavlov (2A) and Charles Généreux. Stanstead would wrap things up in the third, holding Fairmont off the scoresheet. Andrew Shimon (43/43) would play hero in goal, racking up 43-saves for the shutout.

Okanagan Hockey Academy (5) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (3) U17

OHA’s offence came flying out the gates in the first period with goals from Tyler Donaldson (2G)  and Thomas Biggerstaff. However, that two goal lead would diminish in the second as Collin Brennan-Lomeli and Theron Rome brought this match back to even terms. OHA would stick to their game plan and quickly restore their two goal lead with another coming off the stick of Donaldson while Nathan Marques (2G) and Hudson Wicharuk (2A) connected on a button hook play behind PCHA’s net. Hudson Elke (1G, 1A) would cut OHA’s advantage down to one with a powerplay marker in the third, but Marques would wrap this event up with an empty netter in the final minutes of play.

RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (5) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy (2) U15 Prep

Marko Malbasa scored his first goal of the season off a SAHA turnover, blasting one past the blocker side of Patrick Curtis (41/46). Despite the strong start, SAHA would take control in the latter half of the first as Kovann Chisholm buried his fifth of the season on a loose play in front and Nelson Sonna Soufo polished off a tic-tac-toe effort with Carter Jarvis and Rowan Oddie. RHA Winnipeg would find their footing again in the second with an early marker from Aiden Christie. Jack Arseniuk would later restore the lead on the powerplay with a wicked wrister, labeling one top right for his first of the campaign. Andren Paulsen and Wyatt Sydenham would bury an extra two for RHA Winnipeg in the third, securing a 5-2 victory over SAHA. Haize Brightnose (27/29) continues to impress in goal, steering aside 27-shots in the RHA Winnipeg victory.

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (1) vs Delta Hockey Academy (11) U15 Prep

Delta Hockey Academy had the hot hand tonight, potting 11-goals in a blowout victory over PCHA. Colby Walker (2G, 3A) and Ronan Gow (2G, 3A) each secured five-points each with a pair of goals while shifty defender Eli Vickers (2G, 2A) snatched four-points with two goals. Mazen Green (1G, 2A) would not hold back against his former program, securing three-points himself. Braydon Lindsay scored the lone goal for PCHA quickly off a faceoff. Jace Zemanek (17/18) made 17-saves in Delta’s third win of the season in league play.

Northern Alberta Xtreme (6) vs OHA Edmonton (7) U17

A back-and-forth affair between bitter rivals NAX and OHA Edmonton was highlighted by a six-point performance by Caysin Bruno-Morin (4G, 2A). The Edmonton, AB native scored a pair in the first period, leaving OHA Edmonton up by two before the ice clean and later finished off the natural hat-trick, opening the scoring in the third. NAX would spring to life offensively with three unanswered goals in the middle frame, capped off by a nifty passing play between Holter Lefthand (1G, 1A) and Linkoln Philpotts, keeping their chemistry strong after their Top 10 goal earlier this season. OHA Edmonton would find their spark again in the third after Nolan Ryan (1G, 3A) ignited the scoring. Bruno-Morin would add his fourth later in the frame which would go on to stand as the game winner after Ethan Candlish (1G, 1A) scored in the final minute to bring things back to a one goal game.

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (2) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (5) U17 Prep

A pair of early powerplay goals was the spark OHA needed to pull away from PCHA as Grady Monsen (1G, 1A) and Bennett Wheatley generated on the man advantage. Cooper Giarraputo would tag on a third before the end of the frame for OHA. Late into the second, Penticton Vees prospect Gage Mark (1G, 1A) would blast one five hole to further extend OHA’s lead to 4-0. Portland Winterhawks prospect Cameron Young-Thompson would put PCHA on the scoresheet, driving the net hard before placing one shortside. PCHA would fall just short in the third as Luke Edgehouse (1G, 1A) and his booming shot made this game 5-1. Nathan Green added a late powerplay goal for PCHA but it was too little too late. Maddox Slater (30/32) made 30-saves in the win, backing OHA to victory in their home opener.

Delta Hockey Academy (4) vs Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (2) U17

Late goals from Delta’s Peyton May (1G, 1A) and CDA’s Wesley Padilla would keep this game from being scoreless through the first period. Delta would catch a groove in the second as Graeme Burke buried his team leading eighth goal of the season. Jack Triance would strike 25-seconds later, giving Delta a two goal advantage. Blake Celski would score a fluke goal off a dump in later in the second, but a third period goal off the draw by Saajun Aujla kept Delta’s two goal lead intact, spearheading them to victory over CDA.

However, a last ditch effort from Yehor Pyshalko (2G, 2A) would force this game into overtime. Selwyn would maintain possession for a majority of the extra frame, but after a bobble in the neutral zone, Mykyta Staskevych would spring himself on a breakaway where he would make no mistake, roofing one backhand to polish off the late comeback for OHA!
