Canadian Sport School Hockey League:
Six CSSHL alums named to Canada’s National Men’s Summer Under-18 Team

Hockey Canada today announced the 22-man roster that will represent Canada at the 2019 Hlinka Gretzky Cup in Breclav, Czech Republic and Piestany, Slovakia, Aug. 5-10.

Among the 22 players named to the roster include six Canadian Sport School Hockey League alums.

Forwards Justin Sourdif (Surrey, B.C.), Connor McClennon (Wainwright, Alta.), Jake Neighbours (Airdrie, Alta.), Seth Jarvis (Winnipeg, Man.), along with defenceman Kaiden Guhle (Sherwood Park, Alta.) and goaltender Dylan Garand (Victoria, B.C.) were all named to the roster.

Sourdif, 17, attended the Delta Hockey Academy from 2015 to 2017. During the 2015-16 season, he led the CSSHL’s Bantam Varsity Division in goals, assists and points on his way to being named MVP and also winning the league championship. Sourdif currently plays for the Vancouver Giants.

McClennon, 17, attended the Pursuit of Excellence from 2015 to 2017 and the Northern Alberta Xtreme during the 2017-18 season. During the 2016-17 season, he led the CSSHL’s Bantam Prep Division in goals, assists and points, while also being named MVP and winning the league championship. McClennon would also win the CSSHL’s Midget Prep Division Championship in 2018. He currently plays for the Winnipeg ICE.

Neighbours, 17, attended the Pursuit of Excellence during the 2016-17 season, where he was part of the 2017 CSSHL Bantam Prep Division Championship team. He currently plays for the Edmonton Oil Kings.

Jarvis, 17, attended the Rink Hockey Academy from 2016 to 2018. In 68 career CSSHL games, he netted 128 points (76-52-128). Jarvis currently plays for the Portland Winterhawks.

Guhle, 17, attended OHA Edmonton from 2016 to 2018. He was named the Top Defenceman in the CSSHL’s Bantam Prep Division during the 2016-17 season, as well as the Top Defenceman and Freshman of the Year in the CSSHL’s Midget Prep Division during the 2017-18 season. Guhle currently plays for the Prince Albert Raiders.

Garand, 17, attended the Delta Hockey Academy from 2016 to 2018. During the 2016-17 season, he led the CSSHL’s Bantam Prep Division in goals-against average and save-percentage. Garand is currently playing for the Kamloops Blazers.

Canada begins its quest for gold on Monday, August 5 against Finland. All games will be broadcast on TSN.
